N'Golo Kante ‘set for shock transfer to compete in Club World Cup where he'll link up with former Chelsea team-mate'

N'GOLO KANTE is set to complete a shock move that will see him play in the Club World Cup, according to reports.
The revamped 32-team tournament gets underway on June 15 in the United States.

Kante, 34, currently plays for Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad.
But The Athletic claim he is going to be loaned to fellow Saudi giants Al-Hilal.
The French midfielder will agree a short-team contract that lasts as long as the Club World Cup.
Both teams are owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), meaning the deal should be straightforward.
They also own Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli and Premier League side Newcastle.
Al-Hilal are the only Saudi representative in the Club World Cup.
They are in Group H with Real Madrid, RB Salzburg and Pachuca.
The switch will see Kante link up with former Chelsea team-mate Kalidou Koulibaly.

Former Premier League stars Joao Cancelo, Ruben Neves and Aleksandar Mitrovic also play for Al-Hilal.
It comes after the club pushed hard to sign Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.
The Portuguese playmaker was offered a three-year tax-free contract worth £200million.
But Fernandes opted to turn it down as he wants to remain playing at the top level in Europe.

Can Estevao Willian play against Chelsea in Club World Cup?

Estevao Willian will have his final act as a Palmeiras player at the Club World Cup before making his blockbuster move to Chelsea. Last year, the Blues saw off interest from almost every elite club in Europe to secure the services of a player regarded as Brazil's most promising talent since Neymar. Chelsea paid an £29million which could eventually rise £57million – but it could all be worth every penny. Having turned 18 in April, Estevao is now permitted to make his move to London this summer. Before that, he will be part of the Palmeiras side competing in the revamped Club World Cup – a competition also featuring his new club. The competition is underway this weekend with Palmeiras in action against Portuguese giants Porto on Sunday night. Chelsea are then up and running on Monday evening, in action against Los Angeles FC. If both clubs enjoy successful campaigns out in the US, there is a good chance their paths will cross. Palmeiras have been placed in Group A of the competition alongside Al Ahly, Inter Miami and Porto. Chelsea meanwhile find themselves in Group D alongside ES Tunis, Los Angeles FC and Flamengo. There is a possibility Chelsea and Palmeiras can meet at the quarter-final stage of the Club World Cup. Should both progress as group winners or runners-up and beat their last 16 opponents, they are possible opponents for each other at the last eight stage. Those matches in question will take place on Friday 4 July in Philadelphia and Saturday 5 July in Atlanta. With Estevao registered for the Palmeiras squad, there would be nothing to stop him from lining up against the players he will be playing alongside side as early as next month. Estevao's agent Andre Cury said in April: 'Yes, he's arriving [at Chelsea] after the Club World Cup. He's a world-class player. Very good. A guy who's going to make history here.' New signings Liam Delap, Mamadou Sarr and Dario Essugo are in the Chelsea squad for the Club World Cup and will be joined by Estevao later in the summer when pre-season gets started. Chelsea routinely send their young stars out on loan, with Estevao's countryman Andrey Santos enjoying a superb campaign with Strasbourg last season. But the Brazil international is expected to be part of Enzo Maresca's first-team squad heading into the 2025-26 campaign. On top of a participation fee, clubs will receive prize money as follows: Group Stages : £1.5m for a win and £800,000 for a draw : £1.5m for a win and £800,000 for a draw Round of 16 : £5.8m : £5.8m Quarter-Final : £10.1m : £10.1m Semi-Final : £16.2m : £16.2m Runners-up : £23.2m : £23.2m Winner: £30.0m Estevao will be joined by another prodigious South American talent at Chelsea in Ecuador's Kendy Paez – although there are suggestions he may be shipped out to Strasbourg shortly after he touches down in London. More Trending Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel sees huge potential in both players who must be aware of the club's need to win trophies 'from the word go'. 'The important thing is to give them time, we shouldn't put pressure on them,' Mikel told Metro. 'Let them come into the club, bed them into the system and the way Maresca wants to play. There is always pressure at Chelsea, we win trophies. So they have to know that from the word go. But they are young players so you have to find a way to manage it. 'They will come good. If we can find a way to get the best out of them. If it happens straight away, fantastic, we are all happy. What I have seen from both of them, they are so exciting.' Ange Postecoglou lined up for managerial return... in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli, the Asian Champions League winners, are interested in Ange Postecoglou, should they make a change of manager for next season. Postecoglou was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur last week, as revealed by Telegraph Sport, but did not reveal his immediate plans in an emotional farewell statement to fans where he said they would be 'forever connected'. The Australian, 59, is expected to receive offers from clubs over the summer given his success at Spurs where he delivered the club's first trophy in 17 years. However, their Premier League form suffered in the pursuit of silverware. Al-Ahli are understood to be looking at Postecoglou as a potential target should highly rated German coach Matthias Jaissle leave. Jaissle led the club to an AFC Champions League Elite triumph in May when they defeated Kawasaki Frontale in a final featuring Ivan Toney, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez and Edouard Mendy. The young German coach, 37, has now been tipped to return to Europe. He was previously linked with the West Ham job before Graham Potter's appointment and more recently RB Leipzig in his homeland. His silverware this season came despite appearing under pressure at the start of the campaign when his team were struggling. Postecoglou has previously worked in Asia when he was at Yokohama F Marinos in Japan and won the J1 League prior to winning the title in Scotland with Celtic. He was sacked at Spurs exactly two years after his appointment, with the Australian delivering on his promise of winning a trophy in his second season when Manchester United were defeated in Bilbao. Spurs players paid tribute to Postecoglou following his sacking by chairman Daniel Levy, with captain Son Heung-min leading the way on social media. 'You paved the way despite the many obstacles that always existed and always will exist,' added Argentina centre-back Cristian Romero.
