I've tested dozens of fitness trackers, but I'd still snap up this Oura Ring Prime Day deal in a heartbeat
When you buy the Oura Ring 4, you get a sleek smart ring that tracks your sleep, heart rate, and readiness, plus period predictions if you want them.
The most affordable Oura Ring 4 deal right now is the black version, which still looks sleek and has the same thin, comfortable design. Other colors like gold or silver are also available but the price can vary.
I've tested the original Oura Ring and appreciated how it offers a much gentler and less obtrusive way to track fitness and health compared to some of the more hardcore sports tracking watches out there. So when my colleague Kate Kozuch tested the Oura Ring 4 and called it 'the new gold standard for smart rings", I knew I had to keep an eye out for it going on sale.
She highlights in her review of the ring its all-titanium design and recessed sensors that make it comfortable enough to wear day and night. Kate also points out the expanded size range and multiple finishes that help you find the right fit.
One important thing to know is that the Oura membership, which costs $5.99 a month, unlocks the full range of insights, including daily readiness scores, sleep and stress tracking, and period predictions. But with this Prime Day deal, the $52 savings on the black Oura Ring 4 could cover nearly nine months of membership.

OpenAI CFO Sees Firm Selling AI Infrastructure Service in Future
OpenAI is considering eventually helping other businesses tap into the data centers and physical infrastructure needed for artificial intelligence, potentially creating a new revenue line that could offset some of the ChatGPT maker's immense costs. The service would be loosely inspired by the success Inc. found renting out its spare cloud computing capacity to companies, OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar said in an interview Wednesday. OpenAI is not 'actively looking' at such an effort today because it's focused on securing computing capacity for its own operations, she said. But 'I do think about it as a business down the line, for sure,' Friar said.

Amazon now sells used Hertz rental cars
Hertz has announced that it will start selling used cars from its rental business on Amazon Autos. The company's pre-owned vehicles are now available in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and Seattle, according to a new page on Hertz's website, with 'more locations coming soon.' The Verge was unable to find any live Hertz vehicle listings at the time of writing. CNBC reports that customers living within 75 miles of the four launch cities can start browsing on Amazon Autos 'as soon as Wednesday' and that Hertz is planning to expand its operation to 45 locations across the US, bringing availability more in line with the wider list of Amazon Autos locations. 'Now you can conveniently shop our maintained-from-day-one vehicles on the online marketplace of - well - just about everything else,' Hertz says on its website. 'Just shop at Amazon Autos and pick up at your local Hertz Car Sales location within 3 days.' Amazon launched its Autos business in December last year, initially limited to selling new and 'certified pre-owned' Hyundai vehicles via a partnership with the Korean automaker's dealers in several states. Previously, customers could browse car showrooms and compare prices on Amazon but not actually buy a car. That changed last year when several Hyundai dealers started to list models for sale on the site. Hertz is the first rental fleet partnership for Amazon Autos, and will offer used vehicles from a wider variety of brands, including Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet, and Nissan. Jeff Bezos' mom's death spotlights Lewy body dementia symptoms and risks
Jacklyn "Jackie" Gise Bezos, the mother of Jeff Bezos, died last week at 78 after battling Lewy body dementia (LBD). The Amazon founder announced Jacklyn Bezos' death on Instagram, remembering her as a young mother who "pounced on the job of loving me with ferocity." "She always gave so much more than she ever asked for," he wrote in the caption. Jackie Bezos was diagnosed with LBD in 2020, according to her son, who noted that she "battled with the same dignity and courage that's shaped every aspect of her life." Jeff Bezos detailed that after a "long fight" with the neurological disorder, his mother passed away surrounded by "so many of us who loved her." "We were all so lucky to be in her life," he said. "I hold her safe in my heart forever." The National Institute on Aging (NIA) describes LBD as a "complex and challenging" progressive brain disorder. Abnormal protein deposits called Lewy bodies affect chemicals in the brain, which can lead to problems with thinking, movement, behavior, mood and other functions. Early LBD symptoms can include changes in mood, vision and body functions like heart rate and digestion, the NIA and Mayo Clinic have reported. It can also cause sleep issues, such as disorders like insomnia and restless leg syndrome. Cognitive symptoms of LBD can include changes in thinking abilities, drowsiness, attention issues and visual hallucinations, the above sources stated. LBD patients may also experience changes in mood and behavior like depression, anxiety, agitation, delusions or paranoia. These symptoms can often be confused with Alzheimer's disease. Physical symptoms can include slowness, muscle rigidity or stiffness, shuffling while walking, tremors or shaking, balance problems, stooped posture, loss of coordination, smaller handwriting, reduced facial expression, difficulty swallowing and a weak voice, Cleveland Clinic listed. Other miscellaneous symptoms may occur, such as blood pressure complications, difficulty regulating body temperature, fainting, frequent falls, constipation, urinary incontinence and poor sense of smell. LBD mostly affects people over the age of 50 and slightly impacts men more than women. Those with a family history of LBD or Parkinson's disease are at a greater risk, according to Mayo Clinic. The condition can occur alone or along with other brain disorders, as people with Lewy bodies in the brain can also have the "plaques and tangles" associated with Alzheimer's, the above source reports. As LBD is a progressive disease, symptoms will begin slowly and worsen over time, spanning an average of five to seven years from diagnosis to death — although the disease span can range from two to 20 years. People experiencing symptoms may visit a primary care doctor, who will most likely refer them to a neurologist for proper diagnosis, the NIA noted. Geriatric psychiatrists, neuropsychologists and geriatricians may also be able to diagnose the condition through testing and brain imaging. Although there is currently no cure for LBD, research is improving, according to the NIA, and some symptoms may respond to treatments. "Advances in science may one day lead to better diagnosis, improved care and new treatments," the NIA website states.
