SEREMBAN: The body of a Bangladeshi man was found floating in Sungai Muar near Kampung Kuala Gemas in Gemas on Sunday morning (June 29).
Tampin police chief Supt Amiruddien Sariman said police received a report on the discovery at 9.55am Sunday.
He said the 46-year-old labourer was previously reported missing after he was believed to have drowned while setting up a fishing net at a water pump area in Kampung Bangkahulu on Thursday.
"Investigations revealed the victim fell into the water and was swept away for about 13km. The body has been identified by the victim's next of kin," he said in a statement.
The body has been sent to the Tampin Hospital forensic department for a post-mortem. The case is being classified as sudden death. - Bernama

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 17-year-old girl has been killed and a 23-year-old man seriously injured after the motorcycle they were on skidded when its tyre burst near Seberang Jaya here. Seberang Perai Tengah police chief ACP Helmi Aris said they received a call at 9.47pm on Tuesday (July 22) regarding the incident at KM136.8 northbound of the North-South Expressway. "The pair were on their way from Juru to Sungai Dua when the back tyre burst, causing the motorcycle to skid. "The 23-year-old man suffered serious injuries and is being treated at Seberang Jaya Hospital (HSJ) while the 17-year-old pillion rider was confirmed dead at the scene," he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 23). He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and those with information regarding the incident are urged to contact investigating officer K. KUALA LUMPUR: A nineteen-month-old boy has died after he was supposedly mauled by dogs in Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Buloh here. Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said they received a report on the incident at 8.40am on Tuesday (July 22) from a Sungai Buloh Hospital emergency department medical officer. "The child was brought to the emergency zone unconscious and was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but there was no response. He was pronounced dead at 9.14am. "Initial checks revealed scratches and wounds on the victim's head and body," he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 23). He said investigations found that the child was brought to the hospital by his parents aged 31 and 29. "The couple had just returned from work at about 8.15am and found the door to their house open. They then discovered their son unconscious about 20m from the house, with several dogs near the body," he said. It is understood that the boy had been under the care of his uncle at the time and was believed to have been sleeping in the living room. The boy's body was sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital's forensic department for a post-mortem. The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. – Bernama
