Samruddhi Mahamarg opening date: Top state leaders to attend inauguration Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, will attend the inauguration at Igatpuri. The final phase makes the Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg fully operational. This expressway is one of Maharashtra's largest infrastructure projects. Toll charge on travelling through Samruddhi Mahamarg is Rs 2.06 per KM levied for light motor vehicles and Rs 3.32 for light motor commercial vehicles, Rs 6.97 for heavy vehicles having two axles, Rs 7.60 for heavy vehicles with 3 axles, Rs 10.93 for heavy construction machinery, and Rs 13.30 for oversized vehicles having seven or more axles. Samruddhi Mahamarg Route: Nagpur to Thane in 8 hours This newly completed section crosses the Kasara Ghat, a challenging terrain, and is expected to make travel safer and faster. The time taken to travel between Igatpuri and Amane will now reduce from more than 90 minutes to about 30 to 40 minutes. The full journey from Nagpur to Thane will now take eight hours instead of 16. Live Events Before this final stretch, 625 km of the expressway—from Nagpur to Igatpuri—was already open. Completion was delayed due to the pending link between Amane and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Officials confirmed that the connection is now finished, making integration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and the national highway network possible. Access from Mumbai still limited for a year Although the expressway ends near Amane village, which is about 60 km from Mumbai, easy access for motorists in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region is not yet available. The Vadpe interchange—an important connector to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway—is still under construction and will take up to a year to complete. Until then, traffic from Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai must use a temporary access point near Shangrila Resort on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway, MSRDC officials said. Once completed, the Vadpe interchange will provide easier access from areas like Kalyan, Dombivli, Badlapur, Vasai, Virar, Panvel, and Navi Mumbai. Future plans for improved connectivity Plans are underway to add more interchanges, including connections from Badlapur and Kalyan, to improve overall access. Another key expansion is also in progress: the widening of the 21.6-km Mumbai-Nashik Highway stretch from Vadpe to Majiwada in Thane. This road, heavily used by commercial vehicles, will expand from four to eight lanes. The completed Samruddhi Mahamarg is expected to ease travel for Shirdi pilgrims from Mumbai and Thane, and help in faster transport of agricultural produce from the districts it passes through to the Mumbai region.

"#IStandWithKamalHaasan" trends as fans back actor amid 'Thug Life' Karnataka release row
Legendary Tamil actor has made the difficult choice not to release his highly anticipated pan-Indian gangster drama, 'Thug Life', in Karnataka on June 5. This decision follows a controversy over a statement he made regarding the origins of the Kannada language, which has led to protests and demands for an apology. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In a letter to the Kannada Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), Kamal Haasan explained his stance, stating that apologies are reserved for mistakes, not misunderstandings, and therefore he would not retract his comments. The decision to forego the Karnataka release is expected to cost 'Thug Life' and its makers, including Kamal Haasan and director , an estimated Rs 12 to 15 crore as per a OneIndia report. Despite this financial setback, Kamal Haasan has found considerable support from fans and movie enthusiasts, with the hashtag "#IStandWithKamalHaasan" trending widely on social media. Supporters argue that Kamal Haasan's statement was rooted in linguistic history and not intended as an insult to Kannada. Many shared that Tamil is considered one of the oldest living languages in the world and that languages like Kannada have historical and linguistic ties to Tamil. Some users shared excerpts from Tamil textbooks that support this view, that Kamal Haasan's comments were based on factual information. One X user wrote, "What @ikamalhaasan said is 100% RIGHT. Tamil is the oldest living language in the world. Languages like Kannada & others have roots linked to Tamil — that's linguistic history, not offense. Truth doesn't need an apology. History doesn't need permission." Another user's tweet reads, "Respecting Kannada sentiments is important, but Tamil's historical influence on Kannada is a fact, not an insult. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Kamal Haasan's intent was misunderstood; his refusal to apologize is principled, not arrogant. Let's foster dialogue, not division. #ThugLife #IstandWithKamalHaasan." While acknowledging the importance of respecting Kannada sentiments, many fans and movie lovers have rallied behind Kamal Haasan, praising his integrity and commitment to his beliefs. Despite the absence of a Karnataka release, 'Thug Life' is still expected to have a strong opening this weekend. The film, directed by Mani Ratnam also stars Silambarasan TR, , Abhirami, Sanya Malhotra, and others.

NEW DELHI: The Anti-Corruption Bureau has summoned Aam Aadmi Party ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain regarding allegations of a Rs 2,000 crore corruption scam in the construction of government school classrooms in New Delhi. The investigation follows a complaint by BJP leaders claiming inflated costs for semi-permanent classroom construction, with 34 contractors allegedly linked to AAP. The allegations are that the prevalent market rate by then was Rs five lakhs to complete a classroom structure," she added. The complaint details irregularities in constructing approximately 12,748 classrooms at a reported cost of Rs 2,892 crore. The awarded tenders showed a cost of Rs 24.86 lakh per classroom, despite similar structures typically costing around Rs five lakh in Delhi. The project allegedly involved 34 contractors, with most having reported connections to the AAP. ACB chief Madhur Verma noted that during verification, it was discovered that the Expenditure Finance Committee had determined in its 2015-16 meetings that the project should be completed by June 2016 within the sanctioned cost, without allowance for future cost escalations.
