Police still searching for youths that fled remand home

Police are still searching for a trio of young people who a ran away from a youth home in Auckland earlier this month.
Oranga Tamariki had been alerted by one of its contracted providers after the
group left a community based remand home
on 8 July.
Two of the young people were on remand, while the other was under a care and protection custody order.
Police have told RNZ they were still searching for the youths.
They said they were working with Oranga Tamariki as part of their investigation.
"For legal reasons we cannot release further information about these young people," police said.
Oranga Tamariki have been approached for comment.
They had previously described cases like this as concerning.

Woman hospitalised after alleged stabbing in Auckland's Māngere Bridge

Emergency services were called to the scene on Whanui Place just after 8am on Monday morning. A police spokesperson said officers were called to reports of a person being injured and on arrival a woman was found with stab wounds. She was taken to hospital in a serious condition, the spokesperson said. St John confirmed an ambulance and one rapid response vehicle went to Whanui Place. "One patient was assessed at the scene and transported to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition," it said. A reporter at the scene said Whanui Place had been cordoned off on Monday morning and there were ten police cars present on the street. The reporter could see a number of police officers and dogs at the scene. A man had been arrested at the scene, police said and an investigation into what happened was ongoing. 10-year-old killed in SH1 crash near Motutere

Photo: RNZ / Patrice Allen Police have released the name of a 10-year-old who died in a crash near Motutere earlier this month. Jax Tauroa-Wall died in the two-vehicle collision on the evening of 4 July. Police were called to the crash on State Highway 1, and said despite the best efforts of staff the child died at the scene. Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are continuing, police said.
