Dubai Airports prepares to support 3,100 pilgrims for Hajj 2025

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Dubai Airports has launched an extensive operational plan at Dubai International (DXB) to facilitate the smooth departure and return of pilgrims participating in Hajj 2025. This initiative underscores the airport's commitment to providing a seamless and supportive airport experience during one of the busiest periods of the year.
This year, approximately 3,100 pilgrims are set to depart from DXB on 28 dedicated flights operated by Emirates, flydubai, Saudia, and flynas. The official delegation from the Government of Dubai will commence their journey on the first official Hajj flight from Terminal 3 on 1 June 2025.
To ensure a streamlined experience, Dubai Airports, in collaboration with the oneDXB community, including Dubai Police, General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs-Dubai (GDRFA), Dubai Customs, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, dnata, and airline partners, has implemented the following measures:
Dedicated check-in counters across Terminals 1, 2, and 3.
Prayer rooms and changing facilities in all terminals for Ihram preparation.
Multilingual Guest Experience Ambassadors and Hajj Committee support desks.
Designated baggage carousels for the secure handling of Zamzam water.
Pilgrims are advised to arrive at the airport at least four hours prior to departure and to carry all required travel documents, including passport, Emirates ID, Hajj permit, and vaccination certificate.
"These journeys are personal, profound, and often once in a lifetime," said Essa Al Shamsi, Senior Vice President of Terminal Operations at Dubai Airports. "Through the efforts of our people and the oneDXB community, we want to ensure every pilgrim departs with confidence and returns with ease."
The pilgrims are expected to return between 9 and 12 June. Preparations are in place to provide a warm welcome, coordinated baggage support, and a small token of appreciation upon arrival.
The Hajj season coincides with the summer travel peak and the Eid Al Adha holiday, during which DXB anticipates a significant increase in guest volumes. Dubai Airports remains committed to maintaining operational excellence and ensuring a smooth travel experience for all passengers during this period.

Saudi Arabia announced that the annual pilgrimage will begin on June 4 upon the sighting of the Dhul-Hijjah crescent year, the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat (Awqaf) approved a total of 6,228 UAE pilgrims for the 1446 AH / 2025 AD Hajj season, in accordance with the quota allocated by Saudi authorities. A significant 91% of the pilgrims are performing Hajj for the first time, while the rest include 'mahrams', companions, and supervisors from the UAE Hajj Affairs registration process for UAE residents was conducted between September 19 and 30, 2024, via the official Awqaf smart app and website. To be eligible, applicants had to be UAE citizens aged 12 or older and not have performed Hajj in the last five seasons. 'After settling in, they performed Umrah right away. Now, they're resting, attending educational sessions, and preparing mentally and spiritually for the days ahead.' Peaceful and Surreal Abdullah, a 34-year-old Emirati pilgrim who is performing Hajj for the first time described his experience in Makkah as 'surreal'.'I'm now spending as much time as I can praying and making du'a,' he said. 'The heat is tough, but the spirit here makes you forget the discomfort,' he told Aletihad. Aisha Al Hammadi, a 41-year-old teacher from Sharjah, noted the importance of both physical and spiritual readiness ahead of the pilgrimage. 'I started preparing months ago,' she told Aletihad. 'I attended workshops, listened to lectures online, and walked daily to build stamina. But the most important part was preparing my heart and making peace with people.'Hamda, 25, is attending the pilgrimage with her father, sister, and aunt. 'It feels so surreal seeing this many people gather in one spot to worship Allah,' she told Aletihad. 'Although the place is very packed, the peacefulness of these great days is overwhelming.' Hajj Guide Hajj packages from the UAE are priced between Dh27,000 and Dh55,000, depending on hotel category, duration of stay, and proximity to the holy sites, according to Heba Ahmad, an agent at a licensed tour operator in Abu Dhabi. These packages include flights, accommodation, local transportation, and logistical support.'Our team arrives a day or two early to make sure everything is in place,' Ahmad told Aletihad. 'We also have staff who accompany the groups throughout the pilgrimage.'Pilgrims are encouraged to register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' 'Twajudi' service to ensure easy communication and receive assistance in case of an emergency. Additionally, 62 supervisory personnel from the UAE Hajj Affairs Office are on the ground to oversee the delivery of top-quality services, adherence to health guidelines, and proper performance of religious rites.

Operations were suspended to the Syrian capital in 2012, and the return of services follow a comprehensive evaluation in conjunction with the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). The airline will initially start with three weekly services on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday, with plans to expand to four weekly flights from August 2 with an additional flight on Saturday. Emirates Dubai to Damascus flights Emirates will expand its Damascus services to daily operations, effective October 26. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, said: 'Emirates is pleased to restart operations to Damascus and support Syria's road ahead by providing better choice and connectivity, essential economic links for inwards investment as well as opening new trade lanes and global market access for the country. 'Re-establishing air travel and connectivity is also good news for our customers that make up the expansive Syrian diaspora across the Americas, Europe and the GCC, who are eager to fly back home and reconnect to their roots, and leverage their knowledge, skills, expertise and resources in ongoing development efforts. 'We would like to thank the Syrian authorities for their support in strengthening connectivity between Dubai and Damascus and look forward to boosting links to and from the country through our regularly scheduled operations.' Emirates' services to Damascus will operate with a 302-seater Boeing 777-200LR. The flights will open up new opportunities for travellers to conveniently connect to and from the airline's network of nearly 150 destinations and will support the UAE's efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and support Syrian aspirations to rebuild and attract foreign investment across key sectors such as energy, construction and agriculture. Emirates commenced services to Damascus in 1988, and prior to suspending operations in 2012 the airline carried more than 2.1m passengers in and out of Syria. The airline currently flies to 13 cities in the Middle East/GCC, serving the region with a total of 191 weekly flights.
