A rainy end to month? After humid spell, intense showers set to lash Gurgaon

Time of India3 days ago
Gurgaon: After a dry spell, most parts of Haryana, including the city, are likely to see moderate to heavy showers on July 28 and 29, with the monsoon expected to shift south of Delhi and intensify over neighbouring regions.
According to IMD, rainfall activity is expected to be widespread across Gurgaon, Faridabad, and south Haryana areas, especially in the late evening and early morning hours.
"Weather models show that a low-pressure system currently active over north India will move towards northeast Rajasthan. This will likely trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Rajasthan and northern Madhya Pradesh. Delhi, which lies just north of this system, could also see spillover rain," an IMD official said.

IMD's forecast suggests the upcoming shift in the monsoon axis will pull in more moisture-laden winds into Delhi-NCR. Isolated heavy spells are expected on both July 28 and 29.
Meanwhile in Delhi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37.5 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature, however, stood at 28.8 degrees Celsius. On Monday, the maximum temperature is likely to go up to 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to be around 26-28 degrees Celsius.

Delhi Rain Turns Connaught Place Into ‘River View Gated Community'

Last Updated: A viral video captures the chaos in Connaught Place as heavy rains flood major streets in Delhi. Heavy rain lashed parts of Delhi on July 29, bringing life to a standstill in several parts of the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the rain is likely to continue for the next seven days, till August 3. As water gushed through the streets, several key areas of the capital, including Connaught Place and ITO, experienced severe waterlogging. The downpour not only flooded roads but also led to traffic snarls and long delays, making it difficult for commuters to move around the city. A video, which has now gone viral on social media, captured the intensity of the situation. Viral video shows flooded streets In the clip, a stretch in Connaught Place is completely submerged. Shops remain shut due to waterlogging. The clip was shared on X (formerly Twitter) on July 29. 'The NCR is the only place on the planet that can boast of two Venices side by side. Gurugram and Delhi. Well done folks. Great fillip to Brand India." Take a look at the video here: The NCR is the only place on the planet that can boast of two Venices side by side. Gurugram and Delhi. Well done folks. Great fillip to Brand India. — SUHEL SETH (@Suhelseth) July 29, 2025 The video has received over one lakh views so far and has triggered a flurry of reactions online. A user sarcastically called the area a 'River view gated community." Another commented, 'Sack the town planners, civil engineers, the administrators and give it to a private management company with Singaporean technical consultants, they will set it right in less than a year! Do it, if you want to live a civilised life in a city. We have serious cultural and behavioural issues which prevent us from doing quality work." Someone else added, 'Noida is much better despite heavy rain!" 'If this is the situation of Delhi and NCR region, imagine the situation in other parts of the country," another user said. 'Oh god. This is Connaught Place. What a shame," a shocked user wrote. With continuous rainfall, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued advisories asking people to follow alternate routes and avoid waterlogged zones. Commuters are being urged to check real-time updates before stepping out. Monsoon In India Delhi is not alone. Several other states are facing intense rainfall too. The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in Northeast India between July 28 and August 3. Rajasthan is also expected to witness intense showers. Parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Assam have reported more than 21 cm of rainfall in some areas. Authorities are on alert, especially in flood-prone and low-lying regions. First Published: July 30, 2025, 17:30 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. London Weather Forecast For India Vs England 5th Test: Will Rain Allow Full Game At The Oval?

Last Updated: IND Vs ENG 5th Test: Weather forecast and pitch report for the final match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England. India and England collide for the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at The Oval in London from Thursday (July 31). The Shubman Gill-led India fought back at Old Trafford to force a draw. The came out with a spirited and skillful performance after conceding 311-run lead and losing two wickets for nought at the start of their second innings. On a docile pitch, England posted 669 after having skittled out the visitors for 358. With an Indian win firmly out of the equation by that stage, it was about playing out five sessions on a deteriorating surface in Manchester for Gill's men to ensure they stay alive in the series. India started the decisive third innings on a disastrous note, losing opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharson without a run on the board. It appeared that the Test would be over inside four days. What followed, however, would go down as one of India's impressive batting performances to salvage a draw on foreign soil. Opener KL Rahul (90) and skipper Gill (103) led the fightback with a solid partnership that took India to stumps without another hiccup, before magnificent unbeaten centuries from allrounders Ravindra Jadeja (107*) and Washington Sundar (101*) secured parity for their side on the final afternoon. India would take immense confidence into the final Test, which they must win to level the series 2-2. The pitch at The Oval is renowned as a traditionally good surface for batting and recent county fixture at this venue saw teams rack up close to 1500 runs combined. The Oval has also seen big scores in first-class cricket in what has been a dry English summer. The average first-innings score on the ground stands at 343. However, the weather may have a direct influence on the strip. Gloomy skies with moist air and some afternoon showers are in the forecast for the start of the Test match on Thursday, followed by couple of cloudy days and then some showers for the final two days. The temperatures will range between 14 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of up to 13 km/hour and humidity around 88 per cent. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
