Who It's For: Skilled golfers looking for a compact, forged iron with added consistency and forgiveness.
What You Should Know: Callaway's Apex Ai 150 irons fill in a gap in the Apex family lineup, offering a precision-focused design that combines tour-inspired shaping with enhanced turf interaction and distance-retaining technology.
The Deep Dive: With the Apex Ai 150, Callaway is rounding out the Apex family by offering something that's been notably absent since the Apex Pro shifted direction last season: a true player's iron designed to serve better ball-strikers who want forged feel and compact shaping, but without completely giving up forgiveness or speed.
In recent years, Callaway has leaned heavily into artificial intelligence to develop its Smart Face technology, which now appears across the Apex Ai line. The Ai 200 irons were built for golfers who shoot in the 80s and who want a forged club with a bit of tech. The Ai 300 leaned more into game improvement territory with added size and forgiveness. The new Ai 150 slides in just to the better-player side of the 200 in terms of size, offset, sole width, and top-line thickness, targeting golfers who want control and consistency in a sleeker package.
But this isn't simply a shrunken Ai 200. Callaway based the Ai 150 on its Apex TCB irons — one of the most popular models on tour among its staff players — and then re-engineered the shape to be more playable for golfers who frequently shoot in the high 70s to low-80s. You'll still see the compact head, thin topline, and minimal offset that better players tend to prefer, but it's paired with more help across the face for when the strike isn't perfect.
In this case, however, the forgiveness does not come from an increased size, but rather from Callaway's Ai 10X Smart Face design, which helps retain ball speed and spin across a wider portion of the hitting area. Each of the clubs features a forged 1025 carbon steel body. The long irons have been made with 455 stainless steel cup faces for extra pop, while the scoring clubs feature faces made from 17-4 stainless steel.
Another subtle but important piece of the story is the Tri Sole design, which originated in Callaway's X Forged line and has since migrated to the rest of the family. It has a beveled leading edge that creates extra forward bounce, a level area, and then trailing edge relief to enhance turf interaction. The leading-edge relief and bounce help to reduce digging and allow for a cleaner entry and exit, giving players more confidence to be aggressive through impact.
The end result is a set that blends a modern better-player's distance iron and classic shaping in a way that feels purpose-built for strong amateurs, college players, or any golfer who demands precision ... but who appreciates a little extra help now and then.

Callaway 2025 irons: A complete guide to every model, from blades to game-improvement
From forged blades to titanium-faced irons, here's every Callaway 2025 iron and who should play them. Callaway's 2025 iron lineup is one of the broadest in recent memory, covering the full range, from tour-proven blades to multi-material distance machines. Whether you're a scratch player chasing trajectory control or a weekend golfer looking for more forgiveness and height, there's something here for you. While each iron head is purpose-built, a few technologies show up across multiple models. The Apex Pro, Apex CB, and Apex MB, for instance, all share a forged 1025 carbon steel construction and use a redesigned Dynamic Sole that promotes cleaner turf interaction. Several of the hollow-body designs — like the Apex Ai 200 and Ti-Fusion —incorporate Callaway's AI Smart Face architecture and internal tungsten weighting to enhance forgiveness and launch. The result is a comprehensive family of irons, each with a clear identity but plenty of shared DNA. Callaway Elyte Price: $185 per club Who it's for: Higher-handicap players looking for distance and forgiveness. What you need to know: There are four different versions of the Elyte irons — Elyte, Elyte X, Elyte HL and Elyte Max Fast — but all of them have faces crafted with the help of artificial intelligence to enhance launch, ball speed and consistency. Elyte X has a cavity-back design and larger size to increase stability and make this the most forgiving Elyte iron. The HL stands for high launch, and this version of the Elyte was made to create a higher trajectory and help golfers maximize carry distance. Elyte Max Fast comes standard with a lighter shaft and grip to reduce the overall weight of the irons and make them easier to swing for slower and moderate-speed golfers. Read the full review. Shop Callaway Elyte irons Callaway Apex Ai 150 Price: $215 per club Who it's for: Mid-handicap golfers who want a forged, players-style head with modern technology.
