Give more room to locals in govt jobs: Gosha to guv
Ludhiana: BJP's Punjab panellist Gurdeep Singh Gosha met governor Gulab Chand Kataria at the Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh Tuesday, and urged him to direct the state govt to table a bill in the assembly seeking 80% reservation of jobs and other govt facilities for Punjabis by amending the Domicile Act.
Gosha said Guru Nanak Dev preached "sarbat tha bhala" or the welfare of all, but now the unemployed youth of Punjab are deprived of their rights.
In BJP-ruled states, the local unemployed youth get priority in govt facilities under the Domicile Act. In Uttarakhand, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Jharkhand, and even neighbouring s Haryana, unemployed Haryanvi youth have the right to 75% of seats along with all the govt facilities of the state, he said,
The former chief minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, too set these criteria while giving large-scale facilities to domestic and foreign companies for investment, ensuring 75% of the seats for the domicile youth of the state will be owned by the youth of the state itself.
Gosha told the governor that because of large-scale migration of Punjabi youth to foreign countries, the socio-political and traditional culture of Punjab is on the verge of extinction.
He said, "Punjab is the land of gurus, peers, prophets, saints, and Mahatmas. Ancient traditions and culture are our heritage, for the preservation of which your and the Punjab govt's efforts will be recorded in history."

Bengaluru stampede: CM Siddaramiah, PM Modi, RCB, BCCI express grief
Eleven individuals lost their lives and 33 were injured in a stampede outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a large crowd had gathered to see the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team following its first Indian Premier League (IPL) title win. According to reports, thousands had assembled outside the stadium, and police attempted to manage the situation. Force was used as crowds surged against the entrance gates. Eyewitnesses stated that fans arrived in large numbers at the felicitation venue. Visuals showed police personnel moving the injured and unconscious to nearby hospitals using ambulances. An RCB fan outside the stadium said, "I don't know what we did had tickets." Another, Prashant Shetty, said, "We came to watch our stars. I bought tickets for the function but was not even able to enter the stadium. Police suddenly blocked all the roads and closed all the entrances to the venue, and suddenly they started lathi-charging near the main gate." RCB extends condolences to the affected families, ''We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team's arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us. RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed, the guidance and advice of the local administration. We urge all our supporters to please stay safe.'' IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said, "We spoke to the management when we got to know about the situation and they assured that they will finish the ceremony quickly. This is definitely sad and tragic. I urge everyone to always prioritise safety — above excitement, celebration, or crowd fervour." Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge posted, "I am deeply saddened by the tragic stampede in Bengaluru during the celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL 2025 victory. The loss of precious lives and the injuries sustained by many in this unfortunate incident are profoundly distressing. Senior Congress leader BK Hariprasad said, "The incident in which more than 11 people, including women, died in a stampede during the RCB cricket team's victory parade in Bengaluru is extremely shocking and regrettable. The condition of some of the injured in the stampede is serious, and the government should take immediate action to provide them with appropriate treatment." Opposition slams state govt The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticised the Congress-led government in Karnataka, demanding that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G Parameshwara accept responsibility for the incident. Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said on X: "It is extremely painful to see innocent lives lost even before the celebrations could begin. The primary reason for this massive tragedy is the lack of proper planning and complete failure to take precautionary measures. The state government, led by @INCKarnataka, must take full responsibility for this disaster."

New Delhi [India], June 4 (ANI): Commenting on Rahul Gandhi's statement in Madhya Pradesh, RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha on Wednesday said the Opposition leaders must not avoid using the same language as the BJP, adding that they are currently in a fight with the ruling party on multiple fronts. Speaking to ANI, RJD MP Jha said, 'I believe there is a LoP who is also the main face of the INDIA alliance... We are fighting with the BJP on many levels. We are fighting ideological, political, theoretical, linguistic, and emotional battles with them. So, we must show that our language and expressions are entirely different from those of the BJP. Otherwise, the same things happen... 'Bhains, Mangalsutra or Mujra.' 'This is my personal opinion that criticism is the most central discussion of politics,' he added. 'You said on 15 July 2011 that terrorism cannot be controlled -- that was a surrender to terrorism. After the 26/11 attacks, your government did not permit military retaliation. That, too, was a surrender. In 1971, despite having 93,000 Pakistani soldiers in custody, Indira Gandhi's government failed to reclaim PoK. In 1948, Nehru took the Kashmir issue to the UN and surrendered half of it. At Independence, one-third of the country was surrendered to Jinnah and the Muslim League,' Trivedi stated. BJP MP Sambit Patra said that Rahul Gandhi's speech in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday does not befit any 'civilised politician or any leader of the opposition.'
