ESPN makes Georgia football bowl predictions
Bonagura predicts that Georgia will have the highest ranked team that does not get a first-round bye. He thinks Georgia will end up as the No. 5 seed and will host the No. 12 seed Boise State Broncos on Friday, Dec. 19 or Saturday, Dec. 20. The Georgia-Boise State game would be held at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia.
Bonagura thinks Georgia will prevail against Boise State and advance to play No. 4 seed Clemson in the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. Bonagura thinks Georgia will beat Clemson in the quarterfinals before losing to No. 1 seed Texas in the semifinals (Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix, Arizona). He has Texas playing against his No. 2 seed Penn State in the national championship, which will be held in Miami.
Schlabach has a similar projection for Georgia. He thinks the Bulldogs will end up as the No. 4 seed and have a first-round bye. He likes the talent Georgia has on its roster even though the Dawgs have a new starting quarterback in Gunner Stockton. Schlabach thinks Georgia, along with Alabama and Texas, could win the SEC. He predicts Georgia will play, and beat, the No. 5 seed Ohio State Buckeyes in Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
After advancing to the semifinals, Schlabach thinks Georgia will lose to No. 1 Texas in the Fiesta Bowl. Schlabach has Texas defeating No. 2 seed Clemson to win the national championship.
Georgia enters the 2025 season with more modest expectations. However, if this Georgia team can grow over the course of the season, stay healthy at quarterback and other key positions, then we think Georgia is capable of making a championship run. Georgia is going to have to rely a lot on their sophomores, which are part of a former No. 1 recruiting class. As the season progresses, we envision Georgia growing in confidence and being a contender in the playoff.

HOUSTON (AP) — Carolina rookie outside linebacker Nic Scourton is expected to miss some time after he sustained a collapsed lung during a joint practice with the Houston Texans this week. Coach Dave Canales said Saturday that they first believed it was a heat-related issue on Thursday, but when he wasn't getting better they checked him into a hospital to be evaluated. 'It was a very physical play,' Canales said. 'It was presenting like heat exhaustion because he was having trouble breathing, getting tired and all that. We kind of cooled him down. We couldn't get him to respond good enough to where we felt comfortable about putting him back into practice … then, the symptoms kind of grew after practice, so we checked him into the hospital and that's where they told us what was happening and the symptoms all say this is what it was.' The second-round pick from Texas A&M was driving back to Charlotte instead of flying with the team as a precaution. 'When you have that type of a chest injury, the cabin pressure, the elevation and all that can present issues,' Canales said. 'The best course of action was to get him in a car, drive him back to Charlotte and continue his treatment there.' Canales said he wasn't sure how long this would keep Scourton off the field. 'He will be back in Charlotte, and we will keep evaluating him,' he said. 'I don't really know a timeline. It's really week-to-week with those types of things. I've heard from the trainers and from different coaches who have been around this where a guy played the next week. Astros' Hader hopes to pitch in 2025, likely in postseason, after going on IL with shoulder issue
HOUSTON (AP) — Houston Astros All-Star closer Josh Hader said he hopes to pitch again in 2025, even if it means in the postseason, after being shut down because of a left shoulder issue. Hader will not throw for three weeks after being diagnosed with a left capsule shoulder strain on Friday. He will fill that time with rest and strengthening exercises and be re-evaluated to see if he can resume a throwing program. 'We'll see how my body recovers and how it's taking on rehab,' Hader said. 'Right now for me, I'm trying to get as strong as I can for these next three weeks and see where I go from there.' Hader said he would need a ramp-up period of about three weeks in order to pitch in games, which would likely rule him out the remainder of the regular. But, the six-time All-Star hopes to return in the postseason for the Astros, who entered Saturday leading the American League West by a half-game over Seattle. 'Obviously, I would love to be part of a playoff push, but realistically, I'm thinking about longevity,' Hader said. "If I can get these three weeks, get healthy and start moving into a direction where I can start throwing, yeah I would be definitely optimistic.' Hader was placed on the injured list for the first time in his nine-year career on Monday after he felt something in his shoulder he hadn't felt before while throwing in training. 'That's when I kind of threw up the caution signs and wanted to kind of look in deeper and kind of see what was really going on,' Hader said.
