Friends still seek closure 20 years after Maryland woman went missing on way to concert

CBS News06-03-2025

The loved ones of Tracey Gardner are pleading for tips to find her body.
The Baltimore County woman disappeared 20 years ago on her way to a Motley Crue concert.
Her husband, Dennis Tetso, was convicted in the high-profile killing, but he has never revealed what happened to Tracey.
It was the first murder conviction in Maryland where the body was never found.
Friends push for proper burial
Laura Dickson has waited decades for closure, joining in on the first searches for Tracey Gardner after when she went missing in 2005.
"I always try to put myself in her shoes, and I would want somebody to look for me. I would want somebody to bring me home and remember me," Dickson told WJZ Investigator Mike Hellgren. "I know it was gut wrenching for me. Some of those searches were in dumps. We were everywhere. We had a lot of volunteers. We had help from Motley Crue."
Gardner was on her way to the Motley Crue concert in Washington, D.C. Her E-ZPass showed she passed through the Harbor Tunnel.
Tracey's car was found 11 days later at a motel in Glen Burnie off Ritchie Highway.
Surveillance video of it being driven there became the smoking gun in the murder case against her husband Dennis Tetso.
He was the only one with the key fob.
Rocky marriage
WJZ covered every development in the trial including recorded phone calls played in court showing the breakdown in their marriage.
Tracey:"Just get your things and go then, OK? Just get your things and go."
Dennis:"If that's what you want, you're gonna get it."
Tracey:"Oh, OK."
Dennis:"I'll take my things, and I'll move on."
Dennis Tetso showed little visible emotion when he heard the verdict
Tetso never publicly apologized and maintained his innocence, serving just over a decade in prison before his release in 2021.
Dickson believes there may be someone else who knows the location of the body.
"Yes, there was a conviction. Yes, he did his time, but she's still not home. And she wasn't trash to be thrown away. She was a human being that now needs to be laid to rest with her family," Dickson said.
Friends remember victim's spirit
Days like this are tough for close friend Monika Barilla who spoke to Hellgren wearing a button with Tracey's smiling picture.
"It's Tracey. She never likes to smile and show off her teeth anyway. That's the grin. It was taken the night of her bachelorette party. I'm so glad I brought my camera and took all those pictures of her that night," Barilla said. "Somebody knows something. Just speak up. Could you imagine a family member missing? One little piece of evidence you think may not mean anything could solve the case and tell us where she is and let us bring her home and bury her properly. I think she would want us to close the door on it. I know she's in a better place."
Barilla often thinks about her close friend.
"Tracey was just a free spirit. She didn't hold back if something was on her mind. She spoke it. She was just very real, very real, and you knew where you stood with her," Barilla said.
Friends are hopeful someone is finally ready to share their secret and provide the justice that has alluded them for 20 years.
"She brought a lot of people together for good," Dickson said. "Now, she just needs to come home. She just needs to come home."
Call with tips
Tracey's loved ones stress anyone can remain anonymous with their tips and ask that people reach out to Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-Lockup or Baltimore County police at 1-410-887-2214.

Bridgerton 's Genevieve Chenneour Speaks Out After Robbery in London

Originally appeared on E! Online Genevieve Chenneour chose fight over flight. Months after a thief attempted to steal the Bridgerton star's phone at a shop in London and she promptly fought them off, she shared insight into the experience, claiming the footage of the event—which sees her forcibly retrieve her phone from the thief—surprised even her. 'When I first saw it, I was shocked because I didn't even remember my reaction and I thought it was way longer than it was,' Genevieve shared during a June 12 appearance on the UK's This Morning show. 'That moment before anything happened, I thought it was about 20 seconds but it was milliseconds.' In the security footage shared during her appearance on the morning show, Genevieve—who plays Clara Livingston in the Netflix series—is seen wearing sweats sitting on a stool at a counter with her phone sitting on a surface next to her. Meanwhile, the thief, who is dressed in all black with their hood up, attempts to slyly reach around her and swipe her phone. More from E! Boulares pleaded guilty to stealing Genevieve's phone last month when he appeared in Westminster magistrates court. He has 12 previous convictions based on 28 offenses, the Sunday Times reported, citing Westminster Magistrates' Court. E! News has reached out to London authorities regarding the status of Boulares' latest crime but has not yet heard back. 'I had a bit of a sixth sense that something wasn't quite right,' she explained. 'As a woman you have that kind of intuition and I could feel people moving around me in a different way but I only became aware of it once the incident had happened in hindsight.' Genevieve admitted that the thief was not entirely discreet about their objective. 'They were going back and forth trying to find a target,' she explained. 'They chose me.' And while the incident was partially caught on camera, Genevieve explained that the experience went on for a lot longer, noting that she ended up pinning Boulares to the ground and that he threatened to stab her. 'I thought that was a normal reaction and then I realized a lot of people would just let them take the phone.' she added. 'It was just a life-changing crazy moment.' Metro Justice and allies rally at City Hall against RG&E Thursday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — On Thursday, members of Metro Justice and the Rochester for Energy Democracy (RED) Campaign gathered at Rochester City Hall to rally against Rochester Gas & Electric. Organizers said the rally was held to call out the RG&E audit and the company's connection to the Chamber of Commerce. Metro Justice members said the audit shows dramatic security and compliance concerns, in addition to a lack of planning and leadership. Demonstrators said they want the City Council and Mayor Malik Evans' administration to use reserved funds to commission a Phase 1 study to replace RG&E with a public utility. Monroe County and the Mayor's Office have previously refused to commit to doing a study due to the cost. It was revealed on Thursday morning that RG&E has failed again to meet the requirements of customer service standards by the New York State Public Service Commission. They will now be required to pay a $9.8 million fine. News 8 spoke to both RG&E and Metro Justice at the rally on Thursday. 'This notion of government-controlled power would be terrible for the people of Rochester, it would result in exorbitant costs for things like property taxes. It would increase, I mean, the cost associated with buying out the infrastructure would be really difficult for people here in the city. It would take away vital services the city has,' Michael Baggerman, communications manager for RG&E said of Metro Justice's ask. 'The audit was honestly extremely shocking; it is even worse than we thought. There's all the things we knew about all of the like billing errors, the customer service, tjeu're cooking their books, but also a huge amount of negligence putting customers in danger with gas leaks, and cybersecurity, lack of cyber security, but also really that they don't actually even plan at the utility level,' said campaign and policy coordinator of Metro Justice, Dr. Michi Wenderlich.
