Couple killed after car crashes into trailer at traffic light junction in Batu Pahat

BATU PAHAT: A husband and wife were killed after the vehicle they were in crashed into the back of a trailer at a traffic-light junction in Jalan Bindu, Tongkang Pechah, yesterday morning.
Batu Pahat police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the 9.30am incident claimed the lives of Mazalan Balia, 69, and his wife, Radin Pauziyah Radin Ahmad, 75.
He said Mazalan died at noon from severe internal injuries, followed by his wife at 1.45pm due to head, rib and right leg injuries.
"Investigations revealed that the accident happened when a trailer, driven by a 44-year-old man, was heading from Bindu to Tongkang Pechah and had stopped at a traffic-light junction.
"Suddenly, the couple's car crashed into the back of the trailer."
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He also said the victim was believed to have been on holiday and making his way back home to Alor Setar, Kedah after meeting with his friends across the state. He added that further investigations are still ongoing and the case is now being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"He was rushed by ambulance to Taiping Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead at around 9.24pm at the hospital's emergency ward," he said. He added that the victim was believed to be on holiday and was returning to his home in Alor Setar after visiting friends across the state. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
