I tried M&S's £25 Valentine's Day meal deal – here's what's on the menu
Whether you're keeping it lowkey with a partner or planning a 'Galentine's' dinner party, if you don't fancy forking out for an expensive meal at a restaurant this Valentine's Day, a supermarket meal deal is the next best thing – and M&S is arguably the crème de la crème.
Serving up a decadent three-course meal to enjoy with a loved one, the M&S viral dine-in deal is back for 2025, joining the likes of Waitrose, Morrisons and Tesco to reveal its line-up. Spoiler: it doesn't disappoint.
Costing just £25, you can feast on a starter, main, side and dessert, complete with a bottle of fizz, wine or your choice of soft drink for £12.50 per head.
This year, there are 15 new additions to the lineup as well as returning favourites (think fillet steak Wellington and the British wagyu beef pie). As well as tempting meat dishes, you can expect fish mains, including salmon en croute, as well as vegan and vegetarian offerings. As for starters, you can tuck into the fan-favourite baked burrata with nduja and ciabatta crunch, indulgent prawn and lobster gratins, baking brie and mini bao buns, while you're spoiled for choice with the tempting sides (creamy potato dauphinoise, salt and pepper wedges, cheesy green vegetable bake and Mediterranean style roasting vegetables).
There are also boozy and non-alcoholic tipples to pair with your meal – and that's all before you even get to decide which dessert to indulge in.
Ahead of its launch, I tried a couple of the dishes for an early Valentine's Day evening at home. From the full line-up to when it's available to shop, here's what you can expect from the Marks and Spencer Valentine's dine-in meal deal – plus my verdict on its value for money.
When is the M&S Valentine's meal deal launching?
A highlight each year, Marks and Spencer's Valentine's Day dine-in deal for 2025 will be available to shop online from Ocado on 31 January. It will then be available in-store from 10 February, right up to the big day itself on 14 February.
How much does it cost?
The dine-in deal is the same price as last year, costing £25 (£12.50 per head). This includes a starter, main, side, dessert and drink (prosecco, wine or a soft drink) for two people.
What's included in the M&S Valentine's dine-in deal?
Rivaling other supermarkets with the wealth of food available, there's something for everyone in M&S's dine-in deal, from vegans to those who follow a gluten-free diet. For starters, you can choose between everything from king prawn and lobster thermidor gratins (Marksandspencer.com), luxury prawn cocktails (Marksandspencer.com), mini bao buns (Marksandspencer.com), baking burrata (Marksandspencer.com), baking brie (Marksandspencer.com) coquilles st jacques (Marksandspencer.com) and king prawn medley (Marksandspencer.com).
As for the main event, you're spoiled for choice with eight dishes. Meat eaters can feast on a beef wellington with red wine jus (Marksandspencer.com), duck breasts (Marksandspencer.com), sirloin steak with garlic butter (Marksandspencer.com), rump steaks with peppercorn sauce (Marksandspencer.com), wagyu beef pie (Marksandspencer.com) and chicken breast paupiettes (Marksandspencer.com). If it's pescatarian grub you're after, there's a tasty salmon and prawn en croutes (Marksandspencer.com) while the butternut squash and spinach pie (Marksandspencer.com) has vegans covered.
M&S's side dishes are just as tempting, with plenty of veg options – think a cheesy green veg bake (Marksandspencer.com), Mediterranean-style roasting vegetables (Marksandspencer.com), a vegetable medley (Marksandspencer.com) and Mediterranean veg (£3.50, Ocado.com). Or, indulge in triple-cooked chips (Marksandspencer.com), potato dauphinoise (Marksandspencer.com), loaded cheesy mash (Marksandspencer.com), salt and pepper wedges (Marksandspencer.com) and smashed potatoes with basil oil drizzle (Marksandspencer.com).
Now, onto dessert. If you're a chocolate nut, there's a chocolate melt-in-the-middle pudding (Marksandspencer.com), chocolate praline heart (Marksandspencer.com) and chocolate and caramel pots (Marksandspencer.com), while those with a sweet tooth are catered for with classic vanilla cheesecakes (Marksandspencer.com), salted caramel profiteroles (Marksandspencer.com) and a tiramisu cheesecake (Marksandspencer.com). Or, enjoy Sicilian lemon possets (Marksandspencer.com).
No Valentine's Day meal is complete without an accompanying tipple. Fizz fans will love the rosé prosecco (Marksandspencer.com) or conte prosecco (Marksandspencer.com) while the alcohol-free rosé (Marksandspencer.com) is a nice alternative. For red wine fans, there's malbec (Marksandspencer.com) and bonita (Marksandspencer.com), while the chardonnay (Marksandspencer.com) and pinot grigio (Marksandspencer.com) are sure to be refreshing. Or, you could opt for a four-pack of M&S's popular passion star martini (Marksandspencer.com) or Mojito cocktail cans (Marksandspencer.com).
Ahead of the big day, I got my hands on some of the dishes on the M&S's Valentine's Day menu to see if it's as excellent value as it sounds.
The lobster and king prawn thermidor gratin kicked off proceedings. Rich and indulgent, the king prawns and lobsters have a creamy, shellfish stock, complete with white wine and brandy sauce. The gratin has a delicious crunch thanks to the cheese and parsley breadcrumb topping.
Then it was onto the main event: fillet steak beef wellington with red wine jus. A generous chunk of British is topped with mushroom Duxelles and wrapped in golden puff pastry, with the astringency of the red wine jus perfectly balancing the fattiness of the beef. A side of mash loaded with vintage cheddar cheese was elevated by the sweet caramelised onions, with the creamy texture a comforting contrast to the richness of the meat.
For dessert, the chocolate praline not only looked the part with its romantic heart shape, but it was also a surprising treat thanks to the creamy chocolate hazelnut centre, wafer base and layers of dark chocolate. Of course, it was all washed down with a bottle of conte prosecco which would have cost £8 alone.
The entire meal was a breeze to cook (each dish needs no longer than 20 minutes in the oven), delicious, filling and well-presented. For just £12.50 a head, it's a no-brainer (simply add dinner candles and don't forget a bunch of flowers).

Marks & Spencer is back online – these are my favourite fashion picks for summer
I spend a lot of time covering M&S, but the retail giant has been in the news for other reasons this year. Over the Easter weekend, M&S was forced to stop taking orders on its website after days of disruption in stores caused by a cyberattack. With deliveries paused and products in short supply, it's cost the retailer more than £300 million in sales. But, the good news is that online orders have now been resumed. As investigations into the cyber attack continue, stock is set to slowly return online for deliveries and click-and-collect orders. An M&S spokesperson told me: 'We're offering our bestselling products, along with newness and this makes up the majority of our range which is available online today (10 June).' 'More of our fashion, home and beauty ranges will be added every day. For products that are not available online, customers can add them to their 'wish list' and when they come back into stock we will let them know.' Customer loyalty will be key to M&S's survival, with analysts commenting that the retailer has been losing out to rivals. Indeed, the shutdown of online operations coincided with a spring heatwave in the UK, when many people were in the market for summer clothes. I spend much of my time browsing, trying on and reviewing the quality of clothes, particularly on the high street. Whether it's wedding guest dresses or sandals, M&S constantly impresses me with its comfortable and well-crafted clothes, low prices and on-trend styles. While its homeware easily rivals designer brands (see its Tekla-style towels or Pooky-inspired lamps), it's the retailer's fashion that really stands out. It's always been a go-to for well-fitted but feminine bras and soft pyjamas and dressing gowns that will last you years, but M&S used to have a reputation for dowdy clothing. Maddy Evans, director of womenswear at M&S, has led the charge to reinvigorate the brand's clothing offering. Former Topshop fashion director Evans has helped M&S shake those frumpy associations, targeting women who have one eye on the latest designed collections on the catwalk, and another on purse-friendly value. Its fashion takes runway trends and make them wearable day-to-day, all at affordable price points. So, with summer officially here and a heatwave predicted for this weekend, M&S online orders couldn't have resumed at a better time. Here's everything I'm bagging for this season. Giving the designer look for less, this pair of pumps earned a spot in our round-up of the best ballet flats for 2025. Combining the comfort we've come to expect from the high street stalwart with newly elevated style, the dainty style is available in white, black or red and features a slim sole, square toe and flat heel. The delicate self-tie bow fastening and ruched detailing elevate the simple silhouette. Trust me, they're the comfiest flats I own. Swap your florals for polka dot this season. The classic print is having a comeback and this sweet blouse is the perfect everyday style. Characterised by a round neckline and three bow-tie fastenings at the front, the top is cut into a peplum hem with puffed sleeves for extra impact. Finished in all-over polka dot, there's flower-jacquard embellishment for texture. Leopard print is perennially cool (it's a neutral, in my opinion), but the style is back in a big way this summer. M&S's playful take featured in my round-up of the best summer dresses for 2025. Boasting a body-skimming cut that flatters your silhouette, it runs true to size. Complete with a laidback crew neckline and mini hemline, the polyester fabric has a soft jersey feel. M&S also helpfully offers petite, regular and tall lengths, so you can find the perfect fit. An investment for your everyday wardrobe, this M&S style is designed with a fitted bodice and round neckline. The A-line skirt flows out from the waist for a midi hemline cut. Simple but sophisticated, style it with ballet flats and trainers day-to-day before jazzing it up with jewellery and kitten heels in the evening. M&S's linen rich skirt is finished in one of this season's hottest hues, tomato red. Distinguished by its A-line shape and ankle-grazing hem, the shirring on the waistband adds flattering detail. Tone down the bold red hue with a simple white Tee. An effortless way to look put-together, every wardrobe can benefit from a denim dress. This M&S style features a mid hemline and milk-maid style puffed sleeves, while the three bow tie fastenings in the body nod to Ganni. Better yet, there's side pockets. A great choice for Wimbledon or summer occasions, this pure cotton cami dress is finished in a timeless polka dot. Complete with a midaxi-length and flattering sweetheart neckline, the dress has subtle ruched detailing on the bodice to enhance your silhouette.

Stella McCartney gets tested for killer disease with sister on same day
Sir Paul McCartney's daughter Stella has spoken out about the pain of losing her mum Linda, nearly three decades after her tragic death. Fashion designer Stella McCartney has opened up about the heartbreak of losing her mum Linda to breast cancer and is urging women across the UK to make use of free NHS screenings. The 53-year-old daughter of Beatles legend Sir Paul, was just 25 when her mum died in 1998, aged 53 - three years after she was diagnosed with the disease. Now, in a rare and emotional interview, Stella has shared how she and her sister Mary, 55, go for mammograms together every year - and she is calling on other women to do the same, the Mirror. Her warning comes just a week after British pop star Jessie J, 37, revealed her own breast cancer diagnosis, sparking shock among fans. The Bang Bang singer - real name Jessica Cornish - has been sharing honest updates with her 13.9 million Instagram followers so they can keep up to date with her progress. Urging women to get tested, Stella said: "I love the idea of going with my sister and my best friends on International Women's Day every year. "I think it is a nice way to celebrate that process. Go and get your mammograms. My sister is my best friend. It is like no other." Stella previously described losing Linda - animal rights campaigner and photographer - as 'the most difficult thing I've ever had to encounter', and admits the feeling of loss is with her every day. Despite her mother passing away 27 years ago, the mum-of-four – who shares sons Miller, 20, Beckett, 17, and daughters Bailey, 18, and Reiley, 15, with husband Alasdhair Willis, says she still feels her mum guiding her every day. She said: "My mum didn't see my kids. I was just 28. It is the greatest loss, especially when you become a mother. I was so young and passing down motherhood, what a beautiful gift. It is just not you not having her and you losing her it is them not knowing her too. Like "She didn't know you". Stella recently praised Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles for speaking out about her own breast cancer scare. She said: "I think it was courageous for you (Tina Knowles) to share your story and I wish more people would share it. I wish more people would have shared that what when my mother was alive, hoping that she would still be alive. So I commend you for talking about it. Everyone should get mammograms. It is all about prevention. It is so important. "I have spent a lot of time at a breast centre in Kettering and I highlight this disparity in breast cancer mortality. I ask so many questions and some don't know they can get free screenings." Today, Stella says the spirit of her late mum Linda still plays a huge part in how she runs her life, both at home with her husband Alasdhair Willies, and in the way she runs her business. The designer - who takes after her mother in her love of animals and refusal to eat meat and uses no leather or fur in creations for her eponymous label - says her ethos is partly inspired by her mother's beliefs. Stella said: "What an influence my mum was. Obviously in my life she guides me how I conduct myself in my business and in my home." But despite the trappings of the McCartney name, Stella admits she is just like any other mother at home, especially when it comes to her daughters who often steal treasured items from her catwalk collections. She said: "I have an 18-year-old daughter but she is now an age when she is stealing all my major clothes. She is like "Can I go into the archive?" and she whips out the most iconic pieces. She is like "Oh that is the 1997 runway." And I never see it again." "But my kids do get mad at me. There is that Saturday Night Live sketch where they say "I am your mother". "My kids always play that to me. But I said to my daughter once "The only mission I have as a mother is to pass on the thing I have learned." My boys are different." And as Father's Day approaches this Sunday, Stella says her children are just like everyone else's adding: "I have to tell my kids like it is Father's Day coming up. I say to them that we don't need anything, We don't need anything so I say to them 'But write him a letter. Make him proud of you.'

Absolutely Everything We Know About British Actor Adam Long
The British actor Adam Long could have a new love interest according to new pictures that are doing the rounds on the internet. In photographs published by The Daily Mail, Adam Long can be seen on what appears to be a coffee date with fellow actor Aimee Lou Wood. In the pictures, they can be seen kissing and hugging outside a cafe in London while enjoying some drinks. You might recognise Long from his role in ITV's 2019 show The Bay, where he played the role of a construction worker called Vincent. But while Adam Long seems to keep a relatively low profile day to day, he's got a whole host of other huge shows under his belt - and plenty of exciting projects in the pipeline. Adam Long is a British actor, who is most well known for his role as Lewis Whippey in Happy Valley. He also starred in Dunkirk, Spike Island, Vera, Waterloo Road, The Thirteenth Tale, Act Of Grace and the award winning TV drama Don't Take My Baby. In 2019, he was in two movies called The Kill Team and The Corrupted. Adam was born on 25 April 1991, making him 34 years old. Neither Aimee or Adam have commented on their relationship status, but rumours are flying thanks to the recent pictures. Both Aimee and Adam star in the upcoming BBC romantic comedy-drama Film Club, which will air later in 2025, and online reports have noted that Aimee has liked all of Adam's social media posts since their casting was announced last November. Aimee also praised Adam after he completed a sponsored run in aid of Movember and men's mental health awareness. Under a picture he shared on Instagram, Aimee wrote 'YOU DID IT!!!!!!!' It's believed Adam met Aimee while working on the upcoming BBC series. Fittingly, the two of them play an on-screen couple in the show. Now, rumours that the pair are an item are ramping up off-screen too. A source who spotted her with Adam in South London told The Sun: 'They looked smitten with one another. They were hugging and kissing and she kept draping her arm around his neck while his hand was on her knee. They looked very comfy together — a vision of love's young dream.' Yes! You can keep up to date with all things Adam at @itsadamlong. Yes, Adam Long plays Evie's boyfriend Josh in Film Club. The BBC romantic-comedy drama, which is created by Aimee Lou Wood and Ralph Davies, will air later in 2025. Alongside Adam Long, the show stars Nabhaan Rizwaan and Doctor Foster's Suranne Jones, and filming for it wrapped earlier this year. A BBC synopsis for the show reads: 'It's Friday night. 7pm. Film Club Week 198. Evie hasn't left the house in six months after a 'wobble', and tonight, things are different.' It continues: 'Noa's got big news. A dream job is taking him across the other side of the country, which means that all of this is ending. That reality is hitting. That they're going to be forced to consider for the first time they might be more than just friends. Neither of them are the best when it comes to emotions but this time those emotions might be impossible to ignore...' The synopsis sums up Film Club by describing it as 'witty' and emotional,' show about 'love and family, about whether we should follow our hearts or heads, and being in love with a friend.'
