An outstanding start to the season for the Chicago Cubs starting rotation has recently been erased and it may be time for the organization to make a move to shore up the rotation.
At least that's what former major leaguer and MLB Network analyst Mark DeRosa believes Chicago should do.
DeRosa urged the Cubs organization to make a trade for 2023 NL Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara.

He has a 6.69 ERA across 15 starts, a rough start to the season for a pitcher who was the best in baseball just two seasons ago. The last four outings, though, have been much better.
Alcantara has allowed just seven runs across his last four starts, compared to 48 in his first 11 stars of the season. He's gone at least six innings in three of the four starts, as well as striking out four-plus in each of the four outings.

Now, with his mini resurgence, he will more than likely once again become a viable option for teams looking to improve their starting rotation.
It is already known that the Cubs will be looking to upgrade their pitching staff at the trade deadline. What better way to do that than with the addition of a former Cy Young winner?
It will be intriguing to see how the market for Alcantara pans out, as well as seeing what prospects an organization will have to ship away to acquire him.

NEW YORK (AP) — Chicago Cubs pitcher Anhuar Garcia was suspended for 60 games Tuesday by Major League Baseball under the minor league drug program following a positive test for the performance-enhancing substance Methenolone.
