Louise Quinn starts on the bench tonight
'I'm here to play,' declares Quinn, who has won 121 caps in a storied 16-year career that, perhaps, may yet have a valedictory footnote.
'I'm here to fight for my position. It's not going to be given to me, I absolutely know that. Carla doesn't owe me anything in terms of being like, 'Oh we'll just play her just because of this."

Team news is in! - Dave Kelly reports live from Turkey
Ireland have made three changes for this evening's Nations League B clash in Istanbul with newly-crowned European champion Katie McCabe returning from suspension to lead her side.
Megan Connolly and Abbie Larkin also come in for Megan Campbell and Tyler Toland in the other changes to the side who beat Greece last time out, as Carla Ward's women bid to claim the victory that will give them a chance of over-hauling pace-setters Slovenia in Cork next Tuesday.
Slovenia have already kicked off against Greece and, should both they and the Irish claim victory this evening, Ireland must over-haul a four-goal deficit on Tuesday to clinch automatic promotion to the top flight.
Twelve Irish fans are officially at the game, curiously being attended to be almost as many riot police, who ushered in both team's buses less than a half-hour ago.
Republic of Ireland: Courtney Brosnan; Aoife Mannion, Jessie Stapleton, Anna Patten, Katie McCabe (capt); Megan Connolly, Denise O'Sullivan (capt), Marissa Sheva; Lucy Quinn, Amber Barrett, Abbie Larkin

Welcome to live blog coverage of Ireland's crucial women's Nations League Group B clash in Turkey
Ireland arrive at the Esenler Stadium in Istanbul knowing that they need two wins in their final two games to have a chance of automatic promotion to Group A of the Nations League, boosting their seeding for World Cup qualifying next year.
With a win, second place will be guaranteed tonight, which will result in a two-legged play-off against one of the third-placed teams from League A.
Ireland will be led by captain Katie McCabe, fresh off her Champions League triumph with Arsenal as they face a tough Turkey side, whom they beat by a narrow one-nil margin in Tallaght in February.
The match kicks off in 30 minutes, so enjoy and be sure to check out the analysis from David Kelly, online and in print.

Roscommon-Meath draw rollercoaster contest, Down edge Louth

All-Ireland SFC Results Roscommon 2-15 (2-5-5) Meath 0-21 (0-5-11) Down 0-25 (0-4-17) Louth 0-24 (0-6-12) THERE WERE two thrilling and high-scoring contests played in Páirc Esler and Dr Hyde Park this evening, and in both cases, it was defenders who came up with the big plays that made all the difference. In a roller-coaster of a contest in Roscommon, the Rossies started with two early goals but were outscored by a wind-assisted Meath team by 0-12 to 0-4 in the second quarter, meaning they had a five-point lead to chase at the interval. Thanks to five second-half two-pointers, three of them from the outstanding Enda Smith, they looked like the more likely winners with 10 minutes to play. But instead, Rúairi Kinsella hit an equaliser, Roscommon missed three excellent chances, and after the hooter sounded, Ben O'Carroll had the goal at his mercy, only for Seán Rafferty to spring out of nowhere to touch the ball away from the diminutive attacker, and prevent a certain winner. O'Carroll and Diarmuid Murtagh were on the mark with first-quarter goals for the Rossies, both brilliant finishes, but at the other end of the pitch, James Conlon was on fire. Meath, as they have done in several games this year, controlled a huge amount of possession, and they hit four first-half two-pointers of their own, with Conlon putting his name on one of them and adding three more white flags into the bargain. Meath started well after half-time with points from Seán Coffey and Eoghan Frayne, but two doubles from Enda Smith, either side of a meek penalty that was easily smothered by Billy Hogan, quickly ate into the lead. The Royals defended well for most of the second half and prevented Roscommon from raising any white flags, though there were several near misses. Ciarán Caulfield and Rúairí Kinsella were hugely influential in carrying the ball forward and winding down the clock, and even after Diarmuid Murtagh's free gave Roscommon the lead with 10 minutes to play, they kept their patience and drew level through a clever Kinsella finish, setting the stage for Rafferty to keep their fate in their own hands in advance of their final round clash with Kerry. In the local derby in Newry, Down had a one-point lead on the last attack, and it was Adam Crimmins who was their hero, blocking down Tommy Durning to preserve their win. Advertisement Pat Havern (0-6), Danny Magill (0-6) and Odhrán Murdock (0-5) all had big nights for the Mourne men, who led by 0-11 to 0-1 after making a sensational start. Conall McKeever, Conor Grimes and Ryan Burns got scores that left it a bit more manageable at the break, 0-16 to 0-7, and they leaned heavily on two-point kicks in the second period, landing six with the breeze. A run of them from Sam Mulroy, Craig Lennon and Durnin had it down to a one-score game with just under 10 minutes to play, but Shay Millar and Havern (two) got the points that Down needed to keep their noses in front and set the stage for Crimmins to deliver the match-winning play. ***** In the Christy Ring Cup final, London ran out 1-27 to 1-24 victors over Derry. David Devine scored 1-12 for the winners, while Cormac O'Doherty (0-9) and Thomas Brady (1-1) were the main scorers for Derry. The Nickey Rackard Cup final saw Roscommon defeat Mayo 3-16 to 1-21. Roscommon forward Brendan Mulry hit the match-winning point in this meeting of the Connacht rivals. Mulry, Sean Canning, and Robbie Fallon raised green flags for Roscommon, while Eoin Delaney scored Mayo's goal. In the Lory Meagher Cup final, New York triumphed 4-17 to 2-17 against Cavan. David Mangan, Dara Walsh, AJ Willis, and Tomas O'Connor all grabbed goals for New York, while Liam O'Brien and Nicky Kenny found the net for Cavan. In the Tailteann Cup today, Limerick defeated Westmeath by 0-19 to 0-18 in Portlaoise, while Wicklow saw off Waterford by 3-19 to 0-21 in Wexford. Laois took down Offaly this evening in Newbridge by 3-18 to 3-16.

Teenager Doué stars as PSG win Champions League for first time

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN won the Champions League for the first time in their history as Luis Enrique's brilliant young side outclassed Inter Milan on Saturday in the most one-sided final ever as teenager Desire Doue scored twice in an astonishing 5-0 victory. Achraf Hakimi, playing against his former club, gave PSG an early lead and Doue went from provider to finisher as his deflected shot doubled their advantage in the 20th minute. Doue scored again just after the hour mark, ending any doubt about the outcome before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ran away to get the fourth and substitute Senny Mayulu made it five. Inter were simply no match for the French club, who recorded the biggest victory by any team in the final in the 70-year history of the European Cup and Champions League. The triumph for the Parisians comes after more than a decade of huge investment from their Qatari owners, and five years after they lost to Bayern Munich in their only previous final appearance. Already French league and cup double winners, they are remarkably just the second ever French winners of European football's biggest prize — Marseille were the first in 1993, when they beat AC Milan in a final also played in Munich. It is also a second Champions League for PSG coach Luis Enrique, who won with Lionel Messi's Barcelona a decade ago. This youthful PSG side is the best the competition has seen since — one that has been intelligently pieced together over the last two years and fully unleashed this season following the departure of Kylian Mbappe. Indeed, the star on the night was teenager Doue, who delivered a masterclass just before he turns 20 on Tuesday. For Inter, there was to be no first Champions League title since 2010 as they failed to add to their three previous triumphs in the competition. Simone Inzaghi's side have now got to the final twice in three seasons and lost both, and this defeat comes a week after they missed out on the Serie A title to Napoli. They end the campaign trophyless, and their ageing side will need to be rebuilt. Advertisement - Doue at the double - PSG gave their opponents no chance from the off on a sweaty night at the Allianz Arena, and they were ahead in the 12th minute. It was a glorious goal, Vitinha threading a pass to Doue who squared for Hakimi to finish into an empty net, before refusing to celebrate against his former club. It was also the earliest goal in a Champions League final since 2019, and recent history was already firmly against Inter. The last final in which both teams scored was in 2018, while the last team to concede the first goal but still win was Real Madrid in 2014. But soon Inter were further behind with a goal that came on a counterattack. Willian Pacho prevented Inter from winning a corner, his clearance falling to Kvaratskhelia, who released Ousmane Dembele. His pass found Doue, and the youngster who was preferred in the starting line-up to Bradley Barcola fired past Yann Sommer, via a deflection off Federico Dimarco. Inter only really came close to scoring in the first half when Marcus Thuram headed just wide at a corner, but things got worse after the break. The night for Inzaghi's side was summed up by defender Yann Bisseck, who came on for Benjamin Pavard early in the second half but limped off less than 10 minutes later. Their back line was at sixes and sevens as PSG made it 3-0 on 63 minutes, Dembele's flick releasing Vitinha before the little Portuguese playmaker set up Doue to beat Sommer at his near post. Doue came off shortly after to rapturous applause, but his teammates were far from done. Dembele sent Kvaratskhelia away to make it 4-0 in the 73rd minute, and the 19-year-old Mayulu then played a one-two with Barcola before lashing in the fifth on 86 minutes. That rounded off an incredible night, with PSG becoming the first team to score five goals in the final since Benfica in 1962. – © AFP 2025 Written by AFP and originally published on The 42 whose award-winning team produces original content that you won't find anywhere else: on GAA, League of Ireland, women's sport and boxing, as well as our game-changing rugby coverage, all with an Irish eye.
