Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the 2025 models of the CB650R and CBR650R in India. These motorcycles are the first in the country to feature Honda's E-Clutch technology. Bookings are currently open through BigWing dealerships and online via the official website. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the last week of May 2025. The CB650R is priced at ₹9.60 lakh and the CBR650R at ₹10.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The E-Clutch system, introduced globally in 2023, automates clutch operation during starts and gear shifts, removing the need for manual clutch lever use. This system is designed to reduce the rider's effort during operation.
The CB650R features a minimalist design following Honda's Neo Sports Café styling. It includes a round LED headlamp, exposed frame, and sculpted fuel tank. Colour options are Candy Chromosphere Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. It is powered by a 649cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine producing 70 kW at 12,000 RPM and 63 Nm of torque at 9,500 RPM. The bike uses a six-speed transmission and includes the E-Clutch system. The suspension system consists of 41 mm Showa SFF-BP inverted forks and a rear monoshock with preload adjustability. Braking is handled by twin 310 mm front discs and a 240 mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS. A 5.0-inch TFT display offers Bluetooth smartphone connectivity via the Honda RoadSync app.
The CBR650R has a full fairing and forward-leaning riding position. It is offered in Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. It shares the same engine, transmission, and E-Clutch system as the CB650R. Additional features include Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). The suspension and braking components are also identical to the CB650R, and it uses the same TFT display with Bluetooth features.

RBI to re-issue Sovereign Green Bonds of Rs 5000 cr in upcoming Rs 30,000 cr govt securities auction

New Delhi [India], June 10 (ANI): The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the re-issue of sovereign green bonds (SGrBs) as part of the upcoming government securities (G-Secs) auction scheduled for June 13, 2025. As per a notification by RBI on Monday, the total notified amount for sale is Rs 30,000 crore, which includes Rs 5,000 crore of 6.98 per cent SGrBs maturing in 2054. RBI said 'Government of India (GoI) has announced the sale (re-issue) of three dated securities for a notified amount of Rs 30,000'. Sovereign green bonds are government-issued bonds specifically aimed at financing environmentally sustainable projects. The proceeds from these bonds are allocated to sectors such as renewable energy, clean transportation, sustainable water management, and energy efficiency. These bonds serve both to promote climate-conscious growth and to attract environmentally focused investors. In addition to the sovereign green bonds, two other dated securities will also be re-issued: Rs 11,000 crore of 6.79 per cent government securities maturing in 2031, and Rs 14,000 crore of 7.09 per cent securities maturing in 2074. The auction will be conducted using a multiple price method via RBI's e-Kuber platform. Non-competitive bids must be submitted between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., and competitive bids between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on the auction day. The results will be announced on the same day, and successful bidders will need to make payments on June 16, 2025. The government also retains the option to accept up to Rs 2,000 crore of additional subscriptions against each of the securities. The stocks will be eligible for 'When Issued' trading from June 10 to June 13, 2025, allowing investors to trade the securities even before they are formally issued. Primary Dealers may submit underwriting bids for the Additional Competitive Underwriting (ACU) portion between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on the same day. The re-issuance of sovereign green bonds highlights that the government's continued commitment to fund green infrastructure and sustainability initiatives, aligning with India's broader environmental and economic goals. Maruti Suzuki pulls back on EV push amid rare earths crisis: How will it affect e-Vitara production?

Maruti Suzuki has decided to reduce near-term production of its first electric vehicle (EV), e-Vitara, by two-thirds because of rare earths shortages, Reuters reported, citing a document. This development is the latest sign of disruption to the auto industry from China's curbs on some rare earth exports, which led to tensions across the global auto industry. While some companies in the United States, Europe and Japan are witnessing supplies easing as they secure licences from Beijing, India is still waiting for China's approval amid fears of production stoppages, said Reuters. India's top carmaker said on Monday that it did not have any impact yet from the supply crisis, but plans to make about 8,200 e-Vitaras between April and September, versus an original goal of 26,500, according to a company document seen and reported by Reuters. Reuters reported citing the document that "supply constraints" in rare earth materials are vital in making magnets and other components across a range of hi-tech industries. Maruti still plans to meet its production target of 67,000 EVs for the year ending March 2026 by ramping up production in subsequent months. Between October and March 2026 - Maruti plans to produce 58,728 e-Vitaras, or about 440 per day, versus a previous target of 40,437 for those six months under its initial plan, Reuters said. The e-Vitara was launched amid much fanfare at an automobile expo in January. The vehicle was deemed crucial to Maruti's EV push in the country, marking its entry in a fast-growing segment that India's government wants to grow to 30 per cent of all car sales by 2030 from about 2.5% last year, as per Reuters data. Reuters reported that the setback could also hurt parent Suzuki Motor, for which India is the biggest market for generating revenue and a global production hub for EVs. The bulk of the made-in-India e-Vitaras will be exported to Suzuki's major markets like Europe and Japan around summer 2025. Maruti told Reuters last week the rare earths issue had no "material impact" on the e-Vitara's launch timeline. Chairman RC Bhargava said there was "no impact at the moment" on production. Maruti is yet to open bookings for the e-Vitara with some analysts warning it is already late to launch EVs in the country as Tesla is also expected to begin sales this year, reported Reuters. Under its initial plan, Maruti planned to produce 26,512 e-Vitaras between April and September, which is the first half of the fiscal year 2025-26. Now under the revised plan, the company will manufacture 8,221 vehicles, which is around two-thirds cut in the production schedule. The rare earths crisis comes at a time when Maruti is already struggling to recover market share lost to Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra's feature-rich SUVs. These companies also lead India's EV sales. Maruti's share of India's passenger vehicle market is down to 41 per cent from a recent peak of about 51 per cent in March 2020. Suzuki has reportedly reduced its sales target for India to 2.5 million vehicles by March 2031 from 3 million previously, and scaled back its lineup of EV launches to just four, instead of the six planned before, as competition intensifies.
