Honda Introduces 2025 CB650R and CBR650R with E-Clutch in India
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the 2025 models of the CB650R and CBR650R in India. These motorcycles are the first in the country to feature Honda's E-Clutch technology. Bookings are currently open through BigWing dealerships and online via the official website. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the last week of May 2025. The CB650R is priced at ₹9.60 lakh and the CBR650R at ₹10.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The E-Clutch system, introduced globally in 2023, automates clutch operation during starts and gear shifts, removing the need for manual clutch lever use. This system is designed to reduce the rider's effort during operation.
The CB650R features a minimalist design following Honda's Neo Sports Café styling. It includes a round LED headlamp, exposed frame, and sculpted fuel tank. Colour options are Candy Chromosphere Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. It is powered by a 649cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine producing 70 kW at 12,000 RPM and 63 Nm of torque at 9,500 RPM. The bike uses a six-speed transmission and includes the E-Clutch system. The suspension system consists of 41 mm Showa SFF-BP inverted forks and a rear monoshock with preload adjustability. Braking is handled by twin 310 mm front discs and a 240 mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS. A 5.0-inch TFT display offers Bluetooth smartphone connectivity via the Honda RoadSync app.
The CBR650R has a full fairing and forward-leaning riding position. It is offered in Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. It shares the same engine, transmission, and E-Clutch system as the CB650R. Additional features include Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). The suspension and braking components are also identical to the CB650R, and it uses the same TFT display with Bluetooth features.

Lava has confirmed that its mid-range Storm Play 5G and Storm Lite 5G smartphones will launch in India on 13 June. Lava Storm Play 5G will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 processor and paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Leaks suggest that the phone could feature a 6.78-inch 120Hz display and a 50MP primary rear camera. Lava Storm Play and Lava Storm Lite The teaser image shared by Lava shows a blue variant with a white stripe running down the middle and a dual circular camera setup with an LED flash. RBI's rate cut bonanza, ₹26,000 crore G-Sec buyback likely to lower bond yields
Bond yields in India are expected to go down following the recent frontloaded rate cut by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), says economists ANI spoke with. The economists noted that a rate cut is likely to influence the market to adjust to a revised and more accommodative interest rate outlook, pushing dated government securities (G-sec) yields down further. Debopam Chaudhuri, Chief Economist at Piramal Group told ANI "The frontloaded rate cut is likely to drive a further easing in dated G-sec yields as markets adjust to a revised interest rate trajectory. The RBI's shift to a neutral stance could be initially interpreted as a signal of a pause in the rate-cut cycle". He further stated that "these are likely to be short-term adjustments, and bond yields are expected to resume their downward trend once market volatility subsides". However, in the near term, some upward pressure on yields may emerge as investors may look to book profits after the rally in bond prices. Moreover, the RBI's shift to a neutral policy stance may be initially read by markets as a pause in the rate-cut cycle, which could also cause some temporary volatility in yields. Additionally, the US Federal Reserve is also anticipated to lower its terminal interest rate to around 4 per cent, creating more room for the RBI to continue with its rate-cutting approach. Dipanwita Mazumdar, Economist specialist at Bank of Baroda told ANI "India's long end yields especially the 10Y part of the curve has priced in the rate cut. Thus we expect it to be largely capped as the change in stance has hinted lesser scope for future monetary policy easing. Hence we do not expect much momentum. However, the short run part of the curve will be more susceptible to the liquidity support given by RBI especially through CRR cut. Thus we expect some prevalence of a steeper yield curve for India in the near term". In a parallel move aimed at managing its debt portfolio and supporting the bond market, the Government of India has announced a buyback of dated securities worth ₹ 26,000 crore (face value). The buyback will be conducted through an auction on June 12, 2025. It will include five securities maturing in 2026: 5.63 per cent GS 2026 (maturing on April 12), 8.33 per cent GS 2026 (July 9), 6.97 per cent GS 2026 (September 6), 5.74 per cent GS 2026 (November 15), and 8.15 per cent GS 2026 (November 24). There is no notified amount for individual securities within the ₹ 26,000 crore ceiling. The auction will be held on RBI's E-Kuber system between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and the results will be declared the same day. Settlement will take place on June 13, 2025.

Hyundai shares soar 7% to surpass IPO price, hit new all-time high amid high volumes
Shares of Hyundai Motor India surged 6.8% on Monday to hit a fresh all-time high of Rs 1,986.60 on the BSE, surpassing its listing day high of Rs 1,970 recorded on October 22, 2024, amid heavy trade volumes. Around 12:20 pm today, 90,000 shares of the company were traded on the BSE, with a total turnover of Rs 17.95 crore. At the time, the company's market capitalisation stood at Rs 1.56 lakh crore. The rally in the stock may also be on the back of a combination of the following factors. RBI's repo rate cut may benefit auto demand One of the broader macroeconomic factors possibly aiding auto stocks was the recent move by the RBI's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). On June 6, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra announced a 50 basis point cut in the central bank's policy repo rate, which came in above analysts' expectations. The rate cut is expected to bring down borrowing costs and lower EMIs, potentially boosting demand for vehicles—a sentiment that often reflects positively on auto manufacturers such as Hyundai. Hyundai gains ground in India's growing EV market In terms of sectoral developments, Hyundai's growing traction in the electric vehicle (EV) segment may also be contributing to its momentum. According to a recent note by Equirus Securities, electric car sales in May 2025 saw a 55% year-on-year growth, with Hyundai's e-Creta among the key contributors alongside new model launches from M&M and JSW MG Motors. The company has been instrumental in increasing EV penetration, which rose to 4.1% in May 2025 from 2.6% in May 2024. Hyundai is now seen as one of the leading players in India's EV shift, intensifying competition in a segment where Tata Motors had previously dominated. Renewable energy investment announced In a separate corporate development, Hyundai Motor India on Friday disclosed that it had released Rs 165.8 crore as the first tranche of investment for acquiring a 26.13% stake in FPEL TN Wind Farm Private Ltd, a renewable energy project by Fourth Partner Energy. The investment is part of a broader agreement signed in November 2024, under which Hyundai committed to invest Rs 380.5 crore in one or more tranches. The move signals the company's commitment to sustainable operations and long-term energy cost optimisation, although the company has not yet commented on any direct financial impact. This development has been seen as 'neutral to positive' for the company in the short term by domestic brokerage firm SBI Securities.
