Viral Video Of Blue Drum Gift To Newly Weds Reminds Users Of Meerut Horror
A wedding in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur has become the talk of the internet after a group of guests from the groom's side gifted them a large blue plastic drum - in a stark reminder of the Meerut murder case in which a woman chopped her husband's body into pieces and hid those in a similar drum.
The presentation occurred soon after the jaimala ceremony when the couple was greeting the guests. Among the well-wishers were the groom's friends who arrived with the bulky blue drum. The groom looked visibly puzzled, while the bride laughed at the gift.
Not everyone found it funny, though. It reminded people of the Meerut incident.
The video was posted to X with the caption, "What could be a worse joke than this! It is absolutely not appropriate to remember a heinous murder as a joke on a happy occasion like a wedding."

The Meerut Cement Murder Case
On March 4, Saurabh Rajput, a 32-year-old former Merchant Navy officer, was allegedly killed by his wife Muskaan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla. According to the police investigation, Muskaan first drugged her husband's food. Then she and Sahil brutally attacked him with a butcher's knife, stabbing him in the heart multiple times and slitting his throat.
The two then chopped his body into 15 pieces and hid them in a blue drum. They sealed it with cement to prevent the odour from escaping. The murder remained undiscovered until March 18, when Saurabh's six-year-old daughter told her grandmother, "Papa is in the drum."
Postmortem reports revealed that Saurabh was beheaded, both hands were cut off at the wrists, and his legs were forcibly bent to fit inside the container. Medical examiners concluded that Saurabh died of shock and excessive bleeding.
"It was put in the drum and then filled with dust and cement. The body solidified in the cement and did not rot due to a lack of air. The smell was not extremely foul," a doctor involved in the postmortem said.
After committing the crime, Muskaan and Sahil travelled to Manali to celebrate Holi. They continued to mislead Saurabh's family by texting them from his phone. Both accused are currently in judicial custody at the Chaudhary Charan Singh District Jail in Meerut.
Reports suggest Muskaan has tested positive for pregnancy while in custody.

Two Noida cops suspended for delay, cover-up in Thar SUV assault case
A day after a video showing a 25-year-old man being struck by an SUV in Noida's Sector 53 went viral, the station house officer (SHO) of Sector 24 police station and the in-charge of the Gijod police outpost were suspended for failing to report the incident to senior officers and for not making timely efforts to arrest the suspects, senior police officers said on Wednesday. The black Mahindra Thar used in the assault was later traced and seized, police added. In a statement, Noida police said SHO Shyam Babu Shukla and sub-inspector Jagmohan Singh were suspended 'with immediate effect' for suppressing information and showing negligence. 'Their conduct reflects indiscipline and a disregard for official responsibilities. Taking serious note, police commissioner Laxmi Singh has ordered a departmental inquiry,' the statement said. Deputy commissioner of police (Noida) Yamuna Prasad confirmed the SUV had been seized. 'Multiple teams are working to trace the suspects seen in the video,' he added, without disclosing how the vehicle was located. A senior officer said the Thar was abandoned in the Gijod area after the assault. 'We tracked it using CCTV footage. It's possible the suspects have left the city,' the officer said, requesting anonymity. He added that Saurabh Yadav, the victim, also has a case registered against him at Beta 2 police station. 'We are checking the criminal background of all individuals involved.' The attack followed a dispute over a message allegedly sent by Akash Awana to the female friend of a man named Ayush. A fight broke out between two groups—Saurabh, Sumit Yadav (his brother), and Ayush on one side, and Akash, Aman Awana, Gaurav Chouhan, and Kunal Chouhan on the other—around 4pm on Monday. During the clash, the Thar, allegedly driven by Akash, struck Saurabh from behind, flinging him into a roadside drain. The incident was captured in a 28-second video filmed by his brother and later verified by police. Despite the registration of a case under sections including attempt to murder, assault, and criminal intimidation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, no arrests were made as of Wednesday night. Police say 15 to 20 people were involved in the attack.

Two held for attack on brothers in Noida, bid to run one over with car
Noida: Two men were arrested Wednesday for attacking two brothers in Sector 53 and trying to run one of them over with an SUV. The two brothers, Saurabh Yadav and his younger brother Sumit, were attacked by a group of men on Monday when they were allegedly on their way to Logix Mall in Sector 34 in their Fortuner following a social media squabble. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The attack had left one of the brothers with blade cuts on the chest, a fractured finger and other grievous injuries. In their complaint, the brothers claimed that the assailants had blocked their Fortuner and pulled Saurabh out of the vehicle, pinned him to the ground, and rained blows and punches on him. Videos circulated on various social media showed a blood-soaked Saurabh desperately trying to dodge bricks hurled at him. Another video showed the assailants attempting to run Saurabh over with a Thar and pushing him into a roadside drain. On Wednesday, police commissioner Laxmi Singh suspended two policemen, including Sector 24 station house officer Shyambabu Shukla and Gijhore chowki in charge sub-inspector Jagmohan Singh for negligence in duty and ordered a departmental inquiry against them. Singh told TOI that Shukla failed to alert his seniors about the altercation and did not make any meaningful efforts to arrest the accused. "It shows arbitrariness, negligence and indiscipline towards one's duties and responsibilities. Sector 24 police station in-charge Inspector Shyambabu Shukla and outpost in-charge Gijhore sub-inspector Jagmohan Singh have been suspended with immediate effect," the officer said. Additional DCP (Noida) Sumit Shukla said five teams were set up to nab the accused. "On Wednesday evening, we arrested Aman Awana, who was driving the Thar, and his brother Akash. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The car has been seized," Shukla said. Cops, meanwhile, are on the lookout for two more men, Gaurav Chouhan and Kunal from Chhaprauli, for the assault on the brothers. Earlier, traffic police issued a challan of Rs 68,500 on the Awana brothers for violating several traffic rules. Initial investigations showed Akash had sent a text message to a female friend of Ayush, who was accompanying the Yadav brothers in the Fortuner on Monday. "It had led to a heated argument between Akash and Ayush over the phone. Ayush challenged Akash to meet and settle the issue. The two sides decided to meet near Sector 53 around 4pm on Monday. Ayush reached the spot with Saurabh and Sumit but was taken by surprise as Akash came with at least 15 to 20 people in multiple vehicles," the additional DCP said. "As soon as we reached, they surrounded us and started hitting us with rods and blades. We tried to run, but they chased us. I was filming the scene when the Thar hit my brother from behind," Sumit said. He added that Saurabh suffered grievious injuries, including a fractured finger and blade cuts on his chest, and was still under treatment. Police said Ayush had managed to flee, leaving the Yadav brothers behind. The other group became violent when Saurabh allegedly slapped one of the suspects. An FIR under BNS sections 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 351 (criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult), and 109 (attempt to murder) has been registered.

Woman loses Rs 10.6L in fake 2BHK flat deal, FIR against 4 in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: A woman was cheated of over Rs 10.6 lakh by a property dealer and his associates on the pretext of an affordable 2BHK flat in Signature Global Proxima in Sector 89. Saurabh promised the victim a flat and loan assistance, but did not deliver the property or return the money. Pooja Yadav, a resident of Signature Global Roselia in Sector 95, approached Saurabh in 2024 for a rental flat for her friend. After that initial deal, the two remained in touch over the phone. In March 2025, Saurabh told her about a 2BHK flat available at a discounted rate and convinced her that he could also arrange a home loan. "Over the next few weeks, Pooja transferred Rs 10.57 lakh to Saurabh, Rs 5 lakh in cash, and the rest through UPI. Saurabh asked for the payment under various pretexts such as society membership fees, booking amount, GST, loan processing charges, down payment, and premium," an officer said. Saurabh took Rs 2.5 lakh more in the name of registry charges, lawyer's fee, and insurance. "To build trust, he handed Pooja a cheque worth Rs 2.38 lakh, claiming it was a subsidy refund. However, the cheque later bounced due to insufficient funds." When Pooja tried to contact him, Saurabh stopped responding. She later found out the flat he had promised her was already allotted to another woman. Locals informed her that Saurabh had similarly cheated several others. Pooja filed a complaint with the Gurgaon police commissioner, naming Saurabh, along with Rahul and Rupesh, who worked with him, and Ahmed, who pretended to be a bank manager. The police have registered an FIR under section 318 (4) (cheating).
