While the Texas Longhorns weren't at the top of his recruiting list, the Longhorns still managed to pull off a visit from 2026 five-star interior offensive lineman Lamar Brown. Edge coach LaAllan Clark recently visited Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to check in on Lamar Brown, a five-star offensive tackle from University Lab who is widely regarded as one of the top prospects in the 2026 recruiting class.
Brown, who some analysts believe could also play defensive line at the collegiate level, responded to the visit by teasing a potential trip to Austin this summer. 'Might have to take a trip to Austin,' Brown wrote Thursday evening on social media, hinting at growing interest in the Longhorns program.
Brown, currently projected to land with in-state LSU according to 247Sports' Zach Blostein, is ranked as the No. 1 interior lineman and the top player from Louisiana in the 2026 class. He is also rated as the nation's No. 15 overall player in the 247Sports Composite. In addition to his football premiere status, Brown is a standout in track and field, having claimed a Louisiana state championship in the shot put.
The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Brown has already scheduled four official visits for the summer: Miami on May 30, Florida State on June 6, Texas A&M on June 13, and LSU on June 20.. With his recent social media post, Texas could soon join that list of destinations.
Brown's versatility has made him a coveted recruit. 'Legitimate high-level two-way prospect as an interior O-lineman or potentially role-versatile front-line defender,' wrote 247Sports analyst Gabe Brooks. 'Projected for many months to IOL as a physical, athletic difference maker who could potentially provide across-the-front O-line versatility in college. However, indicates desire to play defense, which obviously must be considered in evaluation'
Brown is expected to announce his college decision on July 10, giving any new contenders, including Texas, a narrow window to make their case. With the Longhorns looking to bolster their 2026 class, securing an official visit from Brown could be a significant step in the high-stakes recruitment of one of the nation's elite prospects.

He gives off vibes of Theo Wease Jr. during his time in Columbia – a big target who will catch a lot of passes; not a burner but explodes by defenders. Brady is a weapon and another big win for coach Eli Drinkwitz and staff. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MISSOURI FANS AT Could USC's loss be Texas' gain? Brown and the Trojans parted ways when the four-star receiver from Waxahachie, Texas, wanted to take visits. The Longhorns, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Illinois, Utah, Colorado, SMU and Baylor then emerged as the serious contenders. It really came down to Texas and Notre Dame for Brown and he picked the Longhorns over the weekend, giving an already loaded receiver room another big weapon. How many will USC take this recruiting class? The No. 1 class in the country has 28 commitments after adding Dyer over the weekend as the four-star DB from Duluth, Ga., joins an absolutely loaded defensive back haul that includes five-star Elbert Hill and four-star Brandon Lockhart among many others. Word started leaking out over the weekend that USC could land Dyer, an early South Carolina commit who said Georgia was the team to beat, and by Sunday it was done. The high four-star defensive end from Matthews (N.C.) Weddington made it clear throughout his recruitment that he wanted to play with his twin brother, Andrew, so that could have shaped his recruitment even more. The Gamecocks have only eight commitments but six are four-stars so there is a lot more quality than quantity right now. But South Carolina was a favorite of both throughout their recruitment as it ended with commitments over the weekend. When things slowed down with Ohio State in recent weeks, the Gamecocks jumped up even further. Since the brothers wanted to play together, South Carolina became a great option. This was a surprise commitment over the weekend because the four-star running back from Lancaster, Texas, was tagged to a program much closer to home. Lee had taken a visit to TCU but SMU was really the front-runner in his recruitment. He is from the South Dallas area, he was a main priority for the Mustangs and Lee made it no secret that he was highly interested in the program. Vanderbilt landed a weekend pledge but will have to fight off SMU and others down the stretch. Noah Brown carted off field at minicamp in Commanders injury concern
The Commanders' receiving corps could be getting thinner. Wide receiver Noah Brown was carted off the field after going down during a 7-on-7 drill at minicamp Wednesday, according to multiple reporters. Brown, 29, made a catch on the ground, stayed down and then slowly walked to the sideline before getting carted into Washington's facility, The Athletic reported. Advertisement He reportedly threw his helmet after he was helped to the sideline, according to the Washington Post, but there is no word on the nature of the injury or how long he could be out. The news of Brown's injury comes as Washington finds itself in a contract dispute with star receiver Terry McLaurin, who did not attend the last two weeks of voluntary OTAs and is now skipping minicamp as he seeks a new deal.
