If Coco Gauff was feeling elated after her sensational French Open triumph, then the night out that followed didn't quite live up to expectations. So much so that she's complained night's out after major sporting events should be made ILLEGAL!
The American secured her second Grand Slam title on Saturday, staging a remarkable comeback against Aryna Sabalenka. The final was a rollercoaster, with Sabalenka initially seizing control, but Gauff rallied to dominate the second set 6-2 and clinched the match with a 6-4 win in the decider.
The victory was sweet for Gauff, who fell short against Iga Swiatek in the French Open final three years ago and comes nearly two years after her maiden Major win at the 2023 US Open.
In high spirits, Gauff took to TikTok to share her post-match celebrations, albeit with a tongue-in-cheek tone as she captioned her video: "Going out after winning a sporting event should be illegal."
She humorously lamented the post-victory condition, saying, "You're emotional, dehydrated, starving, and then they put champagne in my hand. Of course I'm going out bad.... I had fun tho we upppppppp."
Gauff journeyed back to the USA on Monday - but revealed that her endeavours in Paris weren't enough for her to take the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen trophy back home with her.
The 21-year-old displayed the 'mini replica' she had been given and explained how the real one "stays with the tournament."
"It's the memories that matter the most," she added.
Gauff has her sights set on accumulating more Grand Slam titles following her victory. After triumphing at Roland Garros, she reflected: "I think this win was harder than the first [title] because you don't want to get satisfied with just that one."
"I was going through a lot of things when I lost here three years ago. I'm just glad to be back here. I was going through a lot of dark thoughts."
She also triumphed in a post-match war of words with Sabalenka, who had bitterly declared that she had been "terrible" and that Swiatek would've beaten Gauff - a sentiment the American refused to entertain and brutally shut down.
"I mean, I don't agree with that," she responded when told of Sabalenka's words. "I'm here sitting here."
Gauff also referenced her recent dominating win over Swiatek at the Madrid Open" "Last time I played - no shade to Iga or anything, but I played her and I won in straight sets.
"Yeah, I don't think that's a fair thing to say, because anything can really happen. Yeah, honestly the way Aryna was playing the last few weeks, she was the favourite to win. So I think she was the best person that I could have played in the final.
"Her being No.1 in the world was the best person to play, so I think I got the hardest matchup just if you go off stats alone."

Lionesses legends inspire next generation of women in sports media
The former England stars turned prime-time pundits offered words of wisdom to 12 graduates from Pixel FC Academy – a landmark programme delivered by Google Pixel, supported by Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC and The FA to provide ambitious female creators with the opportunities, training and inspiration to break into the business. Developed in partnership with women's sports experts The Powerhouse Project, the five-month Academy programme has featured workshops on every aspect of modern sports media, from TV punditry, production and written press, to creating viral social content. The programme, available to women aged 18+, began in January, following research by YouGov which revealed that 70% of female sports fans aged 16-24 believe sports media is a male dominated industry, with 63% stating that they would be more likely to apply if they saw a greater number of women in prominent roles. Since beginning in January, Pixel FC Academy members have produced 120 social media posts of their experiences, with 1.6 million views in total, contributing to an average personal follower uplift of 145% on TikTok and 33% on Instagram. Rosie and Mollie Kmita, The Powerhouse Project founders said: 'It's been a privilege to work with such a talented group of young women and give them a platform to showcase their skills. The programme has provided them with unique experiences across sports media and content creation opportunities with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool FC and the FA, so it's amazing to see them utilise Pixel's AI tools and camera capabilities to produce such high quality material. The 82-year-old Beatles bass player has previously cited Wilson's work as an inspiration for his own, and collaborated with him on Wilson's 2014 solo album Gettin' In Over My Head. He also took part in his induction into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2000. "The notes he heard in his head and passed to us were simple and brilliant at the same time. In a post on Instagram, Sir Paul said: "Brian had that mysterious sense of musical genius that made his songs so achingly special. His cousin Mike Love, 84, said Wilson's "musical gifts were unmatched" while Al Jardine described his bandmate as "my brother in spirit". Wilson was the eldest and last surviving of the three brothers who formed the American rock band with Love and school friend Jardine in 1961. "The melodies he dreamed up, the emotions he poured into every note – Brian changed the course of music forever," Love wrote in a lengthy post on Facebook, saying there was "something otherworldly" about Wilson. "Like all families, we had our ups and downs. But through it all, we never stopped loving each other, and I never stopped being in awe of what he could do when he sat at a piano or his spontaneity in the studio." Describing Wilson as "fragile, intense, funny" and "one of a kind", he said his music "allowed us to show the world what vulnerability and brilliance sound like in harmony". His bandmate Keith Richards, 81, posted an extract of his 2010 memoir, Life, on Instagram recalling hearing The Beach Boys for the first time on the radio and his reaction to their 1966 album Pet Sounds. The extract reads: "When we first got to American and to LA, there was a lot of Beach Boys on the radio, which was pretty funny to us – it was before Pet Sounds – it was hot rod songs and surfing songs, pretty lousily played, familiar Chuck Berry licks going on... "It was later on, listening to Pet Sounds, well, it's a little bit overproduced for me, but Brian Wilson had something." Sean Ono Lennon, the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, described Wilson as "our American Mozart" in a post on X while The Monkees drummer Micky Dolenz said "his melodies shaped generations, and his soul resonated in every note". Wilson was born on June 20 1942, and began to play the piano and teach his brothers to sing harmony as a young boy. The Beach Boys started as a neighbourhood act, rehearsing in Wilson's bedroom and in the garage of their house in suburban Hawthorne, California with Wilson playing bass alongside his brothers Dennis as the drummer and Carl on lead guitar. The band were managed by the trio's father, Murry Wilson, but by mid-decade he had been displaced and Brian, who had been running the band's recording sessions almost from the start, was in charge. They released their most recognised album, Pet Sounds, in May 1966 which included the well known songs Wouldn't It Be Nice and God Only Knows. Wilson married singer Marilyn Rovell in 1964 and the couple welcomed daughters Carnie and Wendy, whom he became estranged from following their divorce. He later reconciled with them and they sang together on the 1997 album The Wilsons, which was also the name of a music group formed by Carnie and Wendy following the break-up of pop vocal group Wilson Phillips. Wilson, who had dealt with mental health and drug problems, got his life back on track in the 1990s and married talent manager Melinda Ledbetter. When Ledbetter died last year, Wilson said their five children, Daria, Delanie, Dylan, Dash and Dakota, were "in tears". Wilson was also embroiled in multiple lawsuits some of which followed from the release of his 1991 autobiography, Wouldn't It Be Nice: My Own Story. The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 2001. The Odyssey: The full cast for Christopher Nolan's Greek epic
With filming for The Odyssey now well under way, it is clear that one way director Christopher Nolan is hoping to impress audiences is with its all star cast. As Odysseus, Matt Damon will lead the huge ensemble cast which Nolan has assembled to bring the Greek epic to life. The American actor, who has worked with the director twice before, will be joined by stars including Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya and many, many more. Considering Nolan's penchant for recruiting those he has previously worked with, several cast members have appeared in his earlier films such as Elliot Page and Robert Pattinson, as well as Josh Stewart whose role in The Odyssey marks his fourth time working with the director. Set for release next year, the fantasy film adapts Homer's epic poem which follows the tumultuous journey of Greek champion Odysseus as he returns home after the Trojan War. It is Nolan's first film since the release of Oppenheimer, which won Best Picture at the 96th Academy Awards, and reportedly his most expensive yet. Filming began earlier this year, with crews spotted at Findlater Castle in Moray earlier this month. The castle, which is located along the Moray Firth, will be closed to the public until July 25.
