Bowen Yang jokes about replacing 'Weekend Update' stars Colin Jost, Michael Che on 'SNL'
The "SNL" cast member joked with his podcast cohost Matt Rogers on the July 29 episode of "Hot Ones Versus" that he wanted to get rid of Colin Jost and Michael Che – mock news anchors on the NBC sketch series – who have hosted "Update" together since the Season 40 premiere in 2014.
During the "Hot Ones" segment, Rogers pointed out "trauma" and brought up that "we both auditioned for 'SNL,' and only you were asked to join," before asking Yang, "If you could have me replace any current 'SNL' cast, who would it be?"

"If I could have you replace any current cast member," Yang repeated back, before Rogers quipped about the newest "SNL" breakout star, "Doesn't Marcello (Hernandez) have enough? I think he's going to be fine." Hernandez, the show's first Gen Z cast member, boasts over 4 million followers on TikTok and Instagram.
Yang finally revealed his pick, telling Rogers that "I love Marcello so much" and admitted that "I'm going to give (Michael) Che and Colin (Jost) the chop so that you and I can do '(Weekend) Update' together."

"I love that, I think we'd be great at 'Update.' We'd give a new fresh take," Rogers added.
Yang and Rogers' popular comedy podcast "Las Culturistas" has become a pop culture sensation over the past decade. Since 2016, the pair have risen to podcasting superstardom with their celebrity interviews and discussions of pop culture.
Recent guests include former first lady Michelle Obama, her brother Craig Robinson, "SNL" alum Amy Poehler, pop star Chappell Roan, former "Bachelorette" leading lady Gabby Windey and music legend Lady Gaga.
The pair are set to host the highly anticipated Las Culturistas Culture Awards 2025, which celebrates buzzy cultural moments, on Aug. 5 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo. The show was taped July 17 in Los Angeles.

As they sang, images of several artists and entertainment figures appeared on the awards ceremony screen, including Billie Eilish, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga and Yang's 'Wicked' co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. In addition to their photos, captions appeared below that detailed the reasons the invitees weren't able to attend. According to the comedians, Eilish 'wouldn't do dress code,' Kelly Clarkson couldn't come because Rogers was 'too thirsty,' Sabrina Carpenter is a 'busy woman' and Michelle Obama was 'too good for this' were among the reasons. In between the list, Will Ferrell shared a video message with the pair, apologizing for his lack of attendance. 'I have a good reason because I'm in Majorca,' the 'Saturday Night Live' legend said while sporting a speedo. Troye Sivan and Kaia Gerber also sent their apologies in the form of a video message, both of whom said they were on vacation. A few other 'SNL' alums made cameos via that tribute montage, including Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, who's captions read that they failed to understand the instructions for the video. Toward the end of their song, singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus walked onto the stage and joined the pair to sing while more celebs' videos and images showed on the screen. 'Hey Matt, hey Bowen, sorry I can't be there,' Brandi Carlile said. 'I'm taking a pregnancy test.' 'Bowen, you bitch!' Anne Hathaway said in a clip. 'I'm not over it; that's why I'm not there!' Yanin Campos, 'MasterChef Mexico' contestant, dies at 38 after car crash

Campos competed on two consecutive seasons of MasterChef Mexico before becoming a TikTok influencer. Authorities are investigating the accident to determine if excessive speed or distracted driving contributed to the Campos, who competed on two seasons of MasterChef Mexico and found success as a TikTok influencer and local TV personality, died Monday from injuries sustained in a car crash. She was 38. Campos' brother, Raúl Campos, announced the news on Facebook. "To family and friends. We inform and mourn the death of my sister Yanin Campos," he wrote in Spanish. The former culinary competitor died after driving into a parked vehicle on Saturday in her hometown of Chihuahua, the Mexican Secretariat of Public Security told local newspaper El Financiero. Following the crash around 6:30 a.m., Campos was rushed to a hospital and later died as a result of her injuries. El Financiero also reported that authorities are investigating whether the accident was caused by excessive speed or distracted driving. Campos began her career as a nurse, and hosted the local Chihuahua TV show La tertulia. Upon the show's conclusion, she auditioned for MasterChef Mexico and competed on its fourth overall season in 2018. She ultimately placed sixth, and returned the following year for the show's "La Revancha" season alongside other former competitors. In her second outing on the show, Campos placed 11th. Campos launched her TikTok account in 2020, and had just under 100,000 followers at the time of her death. Willi Velázquez, who competed against Campos during both of her MasterChef seasons, paid tribute to his late costar in an Instagram post containing an old video of the two competitors singing together on a bus. "This memory from 2018 just appeared on my cloud," he wrote in Spanish. "Such sad news for all of us who knew Yan… My deepest condolences to her entire family. Rest in peace."Ismael Zhu, who won MasterChef Mexico in 2018, commented his condolences on Velázquez's post, also in Spanish. "She will be missed," he wrote.
