T-Mobile 5G users should expect a richer experience after rollout of new capability

T-Mobile has announced that its 5G Advanced network is getting even better with the rollout of the Low Latency, Low Loss, Scalable Throughput (L4S) tech.This capability reduce latency or delay, resulting in an improved real-time experience when using immersive applications. It cuts down on lag, making the network faster, while maintaining high throughput, or the amount of data transmitted. T-Mobile began its 5G deployment with a 5G Standalone (5G SA) network, which is purpose-built for 5G workstreams and doesn't piggyback on 4G infrastructure. Most other carriers still rely on 4G cores. This not only resulted in better speeds and greater capacity, but also allowed the company to launch 5G Advanced, which is an important step in 5G technology. This new category of 5G enables better network performance.L4S is a part of 5G Advanced. It improves responsiveness and minimizes packet loss or the loss of small data units. This is crucial for use cases where response time can make or break the experience, such as when gaming or attending an online meeting. More importantly, it can be potentially life-saving in scenarios where every millisecond counts, such as remote driving. L4S isn't a new tech, but T-Mobile is the first company to use it in wireless. It allows T-Mobile 's 5G network to be more proactive, which is incredibly important for time-critical applications like remote driving, for which the carrier has partnered with the Berlin-based Vay. The company develops remote driving technology, operating cars from different locations.
Implementation of L4S will also allow for the fine-tuning of other experiences, such as Extended Reality (XR) and cloud gaming. T-Mobile notes that XR has the potential to change how we work and play, but it has been help back by jitter and delays. The company has partnered with Qualcomm and Ericsson to test the performance of slim smart glasses with L4S enabled. The result was clear visuals, better frame delivery or data transmission, and reduced motion sickness. T-Mobile concluded that L4S can help take XR mainstream.
L4S can also improve cloud gaming by minimising interruptions. T-Mobile says NVIDIA has already enabled L4S support in GeForce NOW to reduce latency and packet loss during gameplay. This, along with T-Mobile 's 5G Advanced network, should allow for a console-level experience when cloud gaming, even during network congestion. The tech will also improve the quality of online meetings and calls by dynamically adjusting for network congestion. This will reduce stutters, frozen frames, and distorted audio.
L4S will be foundational to T-Mobile 's network slicing framework. It will also enable the network to make smarter decisions and offer customized performance tiers for XR, gaming, video, and other latency-sensitive use cases. The company also plans to bring the capabilities to enterprise offerings to unlock lag-free experiences across industries. It has also teamed up with Apple and other companies to optimize how its app works.
In short, L4S is a tech to improve video streaming. As T-Mobile 's president of technology, Ulf Ewaldsson, previously said, this video priority tech will create a better video experience for different apps. He explained that during times of overload, the network will send a message to the app to ask it to adapt to the condition to ensure the video keeps playing smoothly. This will be achieved by lowering video quality, which is better than buffering or freezing.

The L4S tech will hopefully reduce content load time and ensure more responsive collaboration between users. This will especially help when a network is being used by many devices at once.

Meta reportedly ( subscription required ) recently approached over a dozen AI researchers working at Thinking Machines Lab. The company wanted them to join its new 'Meta Superintelligence Labs' instead, which is being staffed mostly by all of the AI researchers that are being poached from competitors. One employee was offered a billion Dollars, to be paid out over the course of a few years. Other offers ranged from $500 million to as 'low' as $200 million, which would be paid over four years. Some of the researchers were guaranteed to make up to $100 million in just their first year at Meta the craziest thing is that no one has taken Meta up on its insane offers. The company just successfully poached a fourth AI researcher from Apple in just the past month, but apparently no one at Thinking Machines Lab was it's not clear why, anonymous sources claim that it's because the researchers have a problem with Meta's leadership. Salaries at Thinking Machines Lab are around $500,000 a year, so they're not exactly hurting for cash, but a billion Dollars is a ludicrous amount of money that not many could have resisted. The future of computing, according to Meta. | Image credit — Meta It's no secret why Meta is so obsessed with AI researchers: Artificial Intelligence will be the backbone of the future of computing that Zuckerberg is trying to usher in: AR glasses. Meta has poured billions of Dollars into Reality Labs, its XR division. The company is offering affordable VR headsets like the Meta Quest 3, as well as other solutions like the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses. In the end, Meta wants to be the first to market with a consumer version of the Orion smart glasses. And, in my opinion, I think that Zuckerberg is on to something. Apple, Samsung, and Google — as well as some Chinese manufacturers — are all jumping into XR and making AR glasses of their own. If this truly is the future of computing, then Meta is determined to dominate the industry before it even takes off.

T-Mobileroutinely runs some variation of Buy One, Get One (BOGO) offers to hook users up with free or massively discounted lines. One such offer is about to end today and will be replaced by a new offer soon, giving you a rare opportunity to stack two BOGO deals. Insider SettleAsRobin has revealed that T-Mobile users can qualify for two BOGO deals if they act fast. The deal gets you one free line for adding one paid one. The current deal ends on July 30, with a similar one expected to arrive the next day on July 31. This means that you can max out the deal by snagging the current BOGO today and then grabbing it once again when it returns tomorrow. Some T-Mobile customers can get two free lines. For new users, a minimum of two paid lines is required to be eligible for the BOGO deal. So, if there are no lines on your account right now, you will need to pay for the first two to qualify for a free line, and then add another tomorrow for another free line. The only catch here is, of course, that you must pay for one to get the free one. That's not bad at all, considering that after combining the deals, you will have two free lines. For the full terms and conditions, you'll want to get in touch with a sales representative. You'll likely have to pay for all the lines upfront, but the cost will be reimbursed in the form of monthly credits. There's typically a cap of 12 free lines for each customer, so these offers might not be for you if you have maxed out. Also, the paid and free lines are usually paired for line, so you will probably be required to keep the paid lines to continue enjoying the free lines. If you have been thinking about adding a family member to your account, this is a great time to do so. It's deals like these that make people stick with T-Mobile despite the grievances they have with the carrier.

Google's Pixel 10 lineup is important for the company, and not just because it's an anniversary job: users are hoping for substantial upgrades with the Tensor G5 the first time, the Tensor silicon will be designed by Google from scratch. Previous versions of the chipset were co-created with Samsung. Maybe that's what caused Pixel phones to lag a bit behind Snapdragon-powered rivals when it came to raw power?Some early findings about the Tensor G5 were not as inspiring as one would've expected: Early benchmark results for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold suggest that the Tensor G5 may underperform compared to other flagship chips. Geekbench listings show it uses an octa-core setup with a Cortex-X4 prime core, five Cortex-A725 cores, two Cortex-A520 cores, and a PowerVR D-Series GPU. Despite this, its performance appears lower than last year's Tensor G4 and falls behind competitors like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Of course, take this with a grain of salt. These disappointing scores might be due to early firmware limitations. Since there are still several weeks before launch, it's possible that performance could improve in final hardware and software builds. The Tensor G4 chip improved Panorama mode and zoomed video capture by handling more complex image processing for sharper and clearer results, the company claims. Tensor G4 also accelerates Pixel Studio, a tool that generates and edits images using AI both in the cloud and on the device, allowing users to make quick changes and add captions even when offline. Overall, Tensor G4 helps make these features run smoothly and efficiently. We can expect faster and more refined image processing, allowing the Pixel 10 Pro Fold to handle complex visual tasks – like real-time scene optimization, advanced low-light performance, and smoother Super Res Zoom – with greater precision. Features like "Best Take" and "Add Me" may become more seamless and responsive, possibly even expanding into video editing or multi-frame compositing powered entirely G5 could also bring improvements to creative tools like Pixel Studio, making real-time AI image generation and editing faster and more interactive, even without cloud access. With a more efficient chip and better thermal management (thanks to TSMC manufacturing), there's potential for sustained performance in high-demand camera modes like 4K video recording, HDR capture, and live AR effects. Render of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. | Image credit – Android Headlines and OnLeaks Let's see what competitors are doing in terms of camera setups on their foldables: Galaxy Z Fold 7 Oppo Find N5 I chose these two flagships because Samsung is still the most popular brand (for foldable devices or not) and Oppo's bijou, albeit exotic, is among the best foldables one can get in 2025. As you can see, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to pack the least impressive camera setup of all in terms of hardware. A main camera sensor that is under 50 MP is not something to brag about – not in 2025, and certainly not when talking about a device that's going to cost north of $1, secondary (ultra-wide) camera is also uninspiring, but none of its rivals bet heavily on this snapper as well. The area where the Oppo phone shines much brighter than Google and Samsung is, in my humble opinion, the most important camera: the dedicated zoom. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold might stick to a ~10MP telephoto camera, which is disappointing, but the Z Fold 7 is guilty of charge as well. But, as I pointed out above, that's just the hardware side of things. And Google's power lies elsewhere: the magic is in the software. That being said, I look forward to our own in-depth PhoneArena camera findings and comparisons. Things could be surprising!
