The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Thursday said the agency is assisting three Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) due to the threat of ongoing riots in Northern Ireland.
DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the concerned OFWs were not hurt but their community was under threat or possibly in danger, according to a report of Super Radyo dzBB's Mark Makalalad.

The DMW said it is taking steps to ensure the safety of the OFWs.
Reuters on Thursday reported that some Filipino families fled from their home in Northern Irish after a night of anti-immigrant violence.
Michael Sancio, a resident of Ballymena town, said he woke up Tuesday midnight by masked men banging loudly on windows.
Sancio, his wife and daughter, and another couple who share their house grabbed their passports and a few belongings before fleeing their residence.
They slept at a friend's house and plan to stay further outside the town because they feel unsafe at their home.
Hundreds of masked rioters attacked police and set homes and cars on fire in the town of 30,000 people for a second successive night on Tuesday, Reuters reported.
Authorities are investigating the damaging of property as racially-motivated 'hate crimes."
The rioting began after two 14-year-old boys were arrested and appeared in court after being accused of a serious sexual assault on a teenage girl in Ballymena.
The charges were read to the boys via a Romanian interpreter, the BBC reported. A lawyer told the court that the two teenagers denied the accusation and they were remanded in custody until July 2. —RF, GMA Integrated News

It also urged Filipinos to stay informed of the latest news and developments as tensions between Iran and Israel continue. The embassy said Filipinos should exercise caution. "Be vigilant and mindful of your surroundings. Trust your instincts and avoid risky situations whenever possible." PWD mauled by fellow bus passengers on EDSA

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has expressed concern after a 25-year-old person with disability (PWD) was ganged up on and allegedly tased by his fellow passengers inside a bus. According to Joseph Morong's report in '24 Oras' on Friday, the PWD reportedly bit passengers inside a Precious Grace Transport bus on EDSA Bus Carousel on June 9. 'Binugbog, kinuyog, yung isang kababayan natin na may kapansanan sa loob ng isang bus, krimen 'yan,' said DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon in a press briefing. (A fellow Filipino with a disability was mauled inside a bus. That's a crime.) 'This is very personal to me. Why? I have a younger brother, my youngest brother has autism. 'It's not easy to understand, hindi madaling intindihin itong kondisyon na 'to (it's not easy to understand this condition),' he added. 'Reactions are triggered by loud noises, by light, by other triggers, pero dapat naiintindihan ito ng mga kababayan natin (but our countrymen should understand this).' In the viral video, the PWD can be heard crying for help after some passengers tried to kick him out of the bus. The DOTr is also investigating whether a taser gun was used on the victim after a sound of an electric shock was heard in the video. Further, the department said that the bus driver and the conductor should be held responsible for the situation. Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) suspended their driver's license for 90 days. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board summoned Precious Grace to explain and suspended ten of its units for a month. A hearing on the matter has been set for June 25. However, the bus company's lawyer said that the driver and the conductor took action on the incident. According to the testimony submitted by the driver to the LTO, a passenger reported to him that another passenger was biting people inside the bus. When they reached the Main Avenue station, they immediately reported the incident to the authorities. They sought the assistance of Coast Guard personnel to bring out the PWD passenger. But the authorities failed to do so. The PWD bit another person after the bus was already close to Buendia station, and the incident was reported to the authorities. The driver said that he even told the passengers to stop ganging up on the PWD, but nobody listened to him. 'To my mind, yung driver at saka konduktor, ginawa nila ang responsibilidad nila,' said Alex Verzosa, lawyer for Precious Grace Transport. Air India flight makes emergency landing in Thailand after bomb threat, no devices found

A view shows Air India flight AI 379 that had to make an emergency landing back at Phuket Airport, due to a note of a bomb threat discovered mid-air, in Phuket, Thailand, June 13, 2025, in this picture obtained from social media. Chalit Saeton/via REUTERS BANGKOK, Thailand - An Air India flight from Phuket bound for New Delhi received an onboard bomb threat on Friday and made an emergency landing back on the Thai island, airport authorities said. All 156 passengers on flight AI 379 were escorted safely from the plane. No suspicious devices were found and there was no disruption to airport operations, authorities said. The incident occurred after a message with a bomb threat was found in one of the plane's lavatories after takeoff, Phuket Airport general manager Monchai Tanode told a press conference, "Police took suspects for questioning but could not clearly say who wrote the note," he said. Air India official Debasish Choudhury said there were initially three suspects and all had been cleared. India's airlines and its airports were inundated with hoax bomb threats last year, with close to 1,000 hoax calls and messages received in the first 10 months, nearly 10 times that of 2023. The incident follows the crash of an Air India flight in Ahmedabad on Thursday shortly after takeoff, in which more than 240 people were killed. — Reuters
