Raj Shamani has also opened up about how he prepped for the chat.
Vijay Mallya recently appeared on Raj Shamani's podcast and took the internet by storm. During the podcast, Vijay Mallya talked about his life, the rise and fall of Kingfisher Airlines, the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore, and also addressed the financial allegations levelled against him for the first time. Now, Raj Shamani has opened up about how he prepped for the chat and how Mallya deflected some questions.
Appearing on Chalchitra Talks, Shamani recalled the preparation that went into the episode and said, 'One person watched every YouTube video that exists about him, to check which stories add up and which don't. One person scraped every tweet that he has posted in the last three years. A third person compiled every news piece on him, on TV and online."
'Another person was in charge of assessing his side of the argument. We also spoke to ex-employees and associates. I did my own homework; I spoke to people who were very close to him. Then, we compiled all the information together. But we realised that a lot of it wasn't adding up. He'd said one thing, but the news reports said something else and the courts said something else; dates weren't matching… There was 'bhasad', nothing was adding up," he said.
Shamani continued, 'So, we decided to create a timeline of events, a chronological account of his life. Then, we highlighted every detail that we could corroborate, and only then did we do the podcast. There were some stories that he denied; for example, I asked him about being a brat in his youth and showing off his expensive cars. But he denied it. He painted a different picture. Some details he agreed with. Other things, like Supreme Court dates and the lookout circular dates and the date his passport was revoked, he didn't seem to be aware of himself."
Shamani added, 'There were times when he agreed, there were times when he disagreed, there were times when he gave a different story. That's how we did our research. Plus, there were a lot of answers that we predicted, and because we did the rehearsal, I knew where to take the conversation… "
'We knew when he'd deflect, and we had a response ready. There were stories about him having a shell company in France, and because we knew the name of the company, he couldn't deflect, and he told us the story. We asked him about the private jets and the Picasso paintings and the Tipu Sultan sword, and he answered how he saw fit," he concluded.

Man, his two lovers held for killing wife in Odishas Ganjam

Berhampur, Aug 7 (PTI) A 30-year-old man and his two women lovers were arrested on Thursday for allegedly killing his wife in Odisha's Ganjam district, police said. The incident took place at Nuagaon village under Bellaguntha police station limits of the district on Monday, the police said. Santosh Naik, a daily wager and his lovers Anita Naik (26) and Sruti Parida (21) were arrested for allegedly killing his wife Puja Naik (28) and terming her death as suicide, a police officer said. Santosh got married to Puja about 12 years ago and has four children, three daughters and a son, he said. The three persons were arrested on the basis of a written complaint lodged by the deceased's mother Shanti Naik of Buguda area in the district on Monday at Bellaguntha police station. According to the complaint, Shanti went to her daughter's house after getting a phone call from Santosh that Puja had committed suicide by hanging. However, Santosh did not allow her to enter his house. She, however, saw her daughter lying on the ground wrapped in a cloth. She alleged that her daughter was having frequent quarrels with her husband for keeping an illicit relationship with two women, as per the complaint. 'Puja's husband and two of his women friends frequently physically and mentally tortured her. They might have killed her and painted her death as suicide," alleged Shanta in her police complaint. After receiving the complaint, police went to the spot, seized the body and started an investigation. Inspector in Charge (IIC), Bellaguntha police station, Rebati Sabar said, 'We have registered a case under relevant sections of BNS based on her complaint. After getting prima facie evidence during the investigation, the trio, including Santosh and his two lovers, were arrested." Further investigation into the case is in progress, she said. Fuji Singer KWAM 1 Placed on No-Fly List After Airport Drama Unfolds

Last Updated: The drama unfolded during boarding for a flight to Lagos on Tuesday when aviation security personnel asked KWAM 1 to hand over a flask, suspecting it contained alcohol Popular Nigerian fuji singer King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, known as KWAM 1, has been placed on the country's no-fly list following a dramatic confrontation at Abuja's Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The directive, issued by Nigerian Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, comes after KWAM 1 allegedly blocked a ValueJet aircraft from taxiing on the tarmac. The drama unfolded during boarding for a flight to Lagos on Tuesday when aviation security personnel asked KWAM 1 to hand over a flask, suspecting it contained alcohol. The singer reportedly refused and allegedly spilled the contents—later confirmed as alcohol—on one of the officers. He was subsequently deboarded. Video footage circulating on social media, including one shared by Keyamo, shows KWAM 1 attempting to physically obstruct the aircraft as it began to move. The singer had to crouch to avoid being struck by the plane's wing. In a social media post on X Thursday, Keyamo confirmed that the singer stood in front of the aircraft on the tarmac, blocking its taxiing, after being denied boarding. Keyamo condemned the entire episode as 'a case of temporary loss of sanity and control on both sides," and likened KWAM 1's behaviour to a hostage situation. 'From all the details so far received, my preliminary impression is that it was obviously a case of temporary loss of sanity and control on both sides which could have led to serious fatalities," the Nigerian minister noted. Keyamo further emphasised that whether the flask contained water or alcohol was irrelevant compared to the seriousness of blocking an aircraft. 'It is the physical blockage of the aircraft from taxiing that is the reprehensible conduct here which akin to a hostage situation," he added. Following the incident, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority also suspended the licences of both the captain and pilot involved. KWAM 1 is an iconic figure in southwest Nigeria, renowned for his traditional fuji music—a genre rooted in the Yoruba community. He is also a close affiliate of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress, having performed at numerous party rallies and the presidential inaugural ball in May 2023.
