Cal Raleigh hits MLB-best 44th home run as Mariners top Rays 7-4
Seattle extended its win streak to six, the longest active run in the American League, and moved within a half-game of Houston atop the AL West.
After hitting the go-ahead homer in the eighth inning Friday night, Raleigh delivered another three-run shot Saturday to put Seattle up 5-1 in the third. Rodríguez connected on the next pitch from starter Joe Boyle (1-2), who lasted 3 1/3 innings.
Rodríguez also hit a two-run homer in the first, a 436-foot drive, and has 23 home runs this season.
Logan Evans (6-4) allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings before four Mariners relievers finished a five-hitter. Andrés Muñoz worked a scoreless ninth for his 27th save.
Brandon Lowe homered for the second consecutive game in the first inning for Tampa Bay. Junior Caminero hit his 32nd homer in the sixth, a three-run shot off Caleb Ferguson.
Cole Young scored on a wild pitch in the Seattle sixth to make it 7-4.
Key moment
Young's walk and Randy Arozarena's single set up Raleigh's homer to give Seattle a four-run cushion.

J.P. Crawford's 17-pitch at-bat against Rays reliever Mason Englert in the sixth tied for the longest by a Mariners player since pitch tracking began in 1988. After hitting 12 foul balls, Crawford popped out to shortstop — and still received a standing ovation.

Report – Young Inter Milan Striker One Of The Standout Performers Of Preseason
Inter Milan striker Francesco Pio Esposito has been one of the players to have really stood out in preseason in Serie A. Today's print edition of the Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, name the 20-year-old as one of the players who has really been a breath of fresh air. Inter Milan have made Francesco Pio Esposito a part of their first team plans this season. The teenage striker had spent the last two seasons on loan with Spezia. Last campaign, he scored nineteen goals for the Ligurian club. Then, Pio Esposito also starred for Inter at the Club World Cup earlier this summer. Inter Striker Francesco Pio Esposito A Preseason Standout SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – JUNE 24: Francesco Pio Esposito of FC Internazionale faces the media during the Training/Press Conference ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match between FC Internazionale Milano and CA River Plate at Virginia Mason Athletic Center on June 24, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by) Pio Esposito has also gotten plenty of playing time in Inter's preseason friendlies. Both as a starter and from the bench. And as the Corriere della Sera note, the signs have been extremely positive from the Italian Under-21 international. Pio Esposito has not looked raw, or only stood out for his physicality. The 20-year-old's holdup play and technical ability with his feet have also had plenty of polish. And he has had his timing down pat aerially. Therefore, the Corriere della Sera predict that Pio Esposito could be one of the players to really break out next season in Serie A.

Basketball great Sue Bird to be honored
This story was originally published on Final preparations are being made to honor one of professional basketball's — and Seattle's — finest. A video posted on X by the WNBA Seattle Storm shows Sue Bird checking out a statue made in her likeness. The Storm said the team is the first in the WNBA to dedicate a statue to a former player. 'Looks great,' Bird says, as she talks with sculptor Julie Rotblatt-Amrany. The video does not actually show the statue, which is expected to be revealed during a 10 a.m. news conference outside Climate Pledge Arena on Sunday, August 17. According to a previously released statement, the WNBA Storm said a free community fan fest will start at noon, followed by a 'Forever Sue' game at 3 p.m. The Storm are set to play the Phoenix Mercury. 'I'm thankful to the Storm and Seattle for this honor, and can't wait to celebrate with my family, friends, and our amazing fans,' Bird said. Sue Bird's basketball career Bird played her entire career of 21 seasons in Seattle. The stellar point guard won four WNBA Championships, is a five-time Olympic gold medalist, and was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this year. Bird is now a member of the Seattle Storm ownership team. 'Her leadership transcended basketball,' Seattle Storm President and CEO Alisha Valavanis said. 'We celebrate not just Sue's illustrious career, but the future she helped pave for the next generation of athletes.' Mayor Bruce Harrell described Bird as a 'transformative figure' in Seattle's history and a 'symbol of what it means to lead with purpose, courage, and heart.'
