UAE: Three speakers took part in an insightful fireside panel discussion exploring different economic parts on the regional and global levels, on the sidelines of the Capital Market Summit 2025 which kicked off on 6 May in Dubai.
Moderated by Alex Simmons from Edelman Smithfield, the three speakers were Morgan Stanley's Rajeev Sibal as well as Sergei Guriev from London Business School (LBS) and Simon Williams from HSBC.
The session explored the global economic environment during the early months of the new US presidency.
Sibal, Guriev, and Williams also highlighted the rising policy uncertainty and the ripple effects of delayed fiscal clarity, trade friction, and monetary tightening.
The panelists discussed how MENA is standing out as a region of reform and resilience, noting that Dubai is well-positioned as a neutral, trade-friendly hub in a multipolar global economy.
They also noted that a forward-looking discussion offering deep insights into macro trends, market behavior, and what investors should watch in the quarters ahead.
The first day of the third Capital Market Summit was opened by Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade.
The two-day event witnessed international cooperation agreements between several parties, including Dubai Financial Market (DFM), Nasdaq Dubai and Astana International Exchange (AIX) from Kazakhstan, Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) and more.

The transaction, which closed on 4 June 2025, was significantly oversubscribed by 2.6 times, with the final orderbook reaching OMR 260 million. Through a well-executed investor engagement strategy, ahlibank was able to tighten the average yield to 4.625%, lower than the initially set profit rate of 4.65%, thereby securing optimal pricing and outcomes for the Ministry of Finance. This transaction marks a major milestone for ahlibank as it represents the bank's first sovereign Sukuk issuance mandate from the Ministry of Finance. Executed in under two weeks, the issuance highlights ahlibank's strong institutional relationships and its capacity to mobilize the market swiftly and efficiently. The Sukuk attracted robust demand from a diverse investor base, including retail investors, conventional and Islamic banks, insurance companies, and pension funds. The robust investor response underscores the market's strong confidence in the Government of Oman's fiscal discipline, prudent economic policies, and stable macroeconomic framework. UAE: Can passengers claim refund if the flight ticket is non-refundable?

Question: I recently booked a flight through a travel agent, which I now need to cancel. However, the agent says I won't get my money back, as the flight option I selected does not allow cancellations. Can I get my money back? Answer: It is assumed that the travel agent did not provide you with clear and complete information about the non-refundable nature of the flight ticket before booking. A consumer has the right to obtain accurate information about the goods or services they purchase, use, or receive. This is by Article 4(2) of Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 on Consumer Protection, 'Obtaining true information on the commodities purchased, used or consumed or the service received.' The performance of all contractual obligations is subject to the principle of good faith, as prescribed under Article 246 (1) of the Federal Law No. (5) of 1985 On the Civil Transactions Law of the United Arab Emirates, which states, '1. The contract shall be implemented, according to the provisions contained therein and in a manner consistent with the requirements of good faith.' Stay up to date with the latest news.
