Fashion Network13-05-2025

Sportswear giant JD has kicked off its new partnership with chicken restaurant chain Wingstop in a 'flavour-meets-footwear' collaboration across the UK.
In an interesting marketing activation, they're giving customers the chance to win prizes including JD trainers and Wingstop UK vouchers.
To win the prizes, 500 bespoke 3D-printed miniature 'Only at JD' trainers have been hidden inside meals at 48 Wingstop UK locations including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Swansea.
Diners must purchase the JD Full Flavour Fix meal in store (Dine in or Takeaway only, excluding Deliveroo) and find a mini trainer to redeem a prize. Each miniature trainer includes a unique code.
Winners simply scan the QR code on the shoebox to claim a full-size pair of JD-exclusive trainers from Adidas, Asics, Nike, New Balance and a £50 Wingstop UK Flavour Voucher.
This collab 'unites two cultural powerhouses, bold flavours and bold style, offering fans a new way to celebrate their passion', they say.
The campaign was teased by BikeStormz London, the youth-led bike initiative encouraging people to drop knives and pick up a bike and start cycling.
Fashion and fast-food collabs are no longer strange bedfellows nothing new with Primark and fast-food chain Greggs in a wearable brand alliance while Aldi and Lidl have offered customers the chance to wear their popular meals and snacks. And a couple of years ago, KFC launched a 'highly exclusive' 'it-bag' (a Y2K Baguette-inspired bag called 'The Wrapuette') to celebrate the introduction of its new Twister Wrap deal.

JD Sports opens its biggest global store in Manchester

There are grand store opening events. And then there are JD Sports opening events. The spotlight fell on Manchester's Trafford Centre Saturday (7 June) where over 1,000 shoppers turned up for the opening of JD's biggest ever store (41,000 sq ft), led by eight-time gold medalist athletics superstar Usain Bolt supported by YouTube group Beta Squad. Describing it as its 'ultimate destination for fresh fits and exclusive flex' the store becomes a blueprint for JD's international retail expansion. The store follows a revamp and upsize of its previous Trafford Centre location, tripling its size. It also features the largest store front in the global JD Sports store estate spanning 302 feet. The store also features over 270 digital screens; over 400 sq m of LED; a 104 metre-long digital screen spanning across the bulkhead. It also features special takeover areas from Nike, Adidas, Puma and On Running along with JD brand exclusives including Unlike Humans. The opening day showcase featured the 'Nike AM95: The Vault', allowing shoppers to buy very-limited-edition pairs of AM95 OG Mandarin and AM95 OG Pink Foam sneakers. JD Sports CEO Régis Schultz, said the opening was a 'proud and landmark moment', adding: 'We see the world through the mindset of our customer, know what they want and set the trends for them. This opening showcases JD's relentless drive to bring our global customers exceptional retail experiences and differentiated product, backed by our strong brand partnerships. 'At the same time, it's a celebration of our roots – Manchester has been close to the heart of JD's journey since we opened our first store in Bury in 1981. As we continue to expand our footprint across the world, the Trafford Centre store represents the future of JD: bold, forward-thinking, and deeply connected to the communities we serve.' Marcus Briggs, managing director at Pradera Lateral, Trafford Centre's asset management firm, also said ahead of the opening: 'The anticipation and excitement has been building for this opening of JD's Trafford Centre flagship store. The respective property, marketing and design teams have worked extremely hard to deliver a store of global significance for our Trafford Centre visitors and we are all delighted with the outcome. We really value our longstanding partnership with JD.'

L'Oréal plans major growth in India, expanding production and brand investments

Global cosmetics giant L'Oréal aims to double its business in India over the next few years, while also strengthening its local production capacity. 'India is a very strategic market for L'Oréal,' said Nicolas Hieronimus, the group's CEO, during a meeting with journalists held during the official visit to France by Piyush Goyal, India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, according to the Press Trust of India. 'We intend to more than double our business in the coming years, expand our factories—which already produce 95% of what we sell in India—and increase our exports to the broader region,' the executive stated. L'Oréal currently manufactures approximately 500 million units annually in India, with a significant share destined for export. According to India Retailing, these exports primarily consist of hair and skincare products sent to Gulf countries. 'This is just the beginning of a great adventure,' said Nicolas Hieronimus, referencing plans to boost industrial capacity in the years ahead. L'Oréal India, which has operated in the country since 1994 through its wholly owned subsidiary, manages a brand portfolio that includes products from its Consumer division, such as L'Oréal Paris, Garnier, Maybelline New York, and NYX Professional Makeup, as well as luxury brands including Kiehl's, Lancôme, and Yves Saint Laurent Beauté. India remains a key market for the group, which invested in two local brands in March: Deconstruct (skincare) and Arata (hair care). Both investments were made through Bold, L'Oréal's fund dedicated to minority stakes in innovative beauty startups. Propelled by a growing middle class, the Indian beauty market is projected to reach $30 billion (€28.8 billion) by 2027.
