Alejandro Garnacho will be on the move from Manchester United this summer. Where he ends up, however, is the question on fans' lips.
The livewire winger, barring any drastic change in circumstances, has played his final game for United, which came in the form of an off-the-bench cameo in the closing stages of last month's Europa League final.

After the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Garnacho brazenly labelled United's season as 'sh*t' and rued Ruben Amorim's decision to omit him from the starting XI for the must-win fixture. He culminated the post-match chat by hinting at an Old Trafford exit, saying: 'I'll try to enjoy my summer and then we will see.'
What next for Alejandro Garnacho?

Four days later, Garnacho was dropped from the matchday squad on the final day of the Premier League campaign when the Reds hosted Aston Villa. It was later revealed that, in a training session leading up to the clash, Amorim had told the youngster to 'pray' he could find another club this summer, setting in stone that he'd play no part in the new boss' plans.

Numerous outlets have since confirmed it's been mutually agreed by all parties that Garnacho should embark on a new venture in 2025/2026 — and he isn't short of suitors, either.
In the event the 20-year-old wanted to ply his trade in a new league for the first time, he has garnered interest from Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Bayer Leverkusen, the latter of which would see him reunite with ex-United boss Erik ten Hag.
Garnacho keen to stay in England despite attracting interest across Europe's top leagues
Yet, Fabrizio Romano issued an update on Sunday, stating that Garnacho is adamant about continuing in the Premier League.

'Alejandro Garnacho's priority is to stay in the Premier League, while he's set to leave Man United this summer,' said the transfer reporter.
'Despite Bayer Leverkusen's interest and Ten Hag's appreciation, the deal looks complicated and the Premier League is the player's first choice.'
The eight-capped Argentine international had previously been a target for Chelsea in the winter, so much so that they believed they'd laid the groundwork for a future deal when the window closed, having held talks with his representatives.
Whilst the Blues do retain their interest in Garnacho, they are prioritising the arrival of Borussia Dortmund starlet Jamie Gittens, meaning their pursuit of the wantaway Red has been put on the back burner for now.

In his five years at United, Garnacho has accumulated 144 appearances, scoring 26 goals and assisting 22.

Liam Delap's greatest strengths...and weaknesses!

After an impressive season leading the line at Ipswich Town last season, young striker Liam Delap signed for Chelsea for £30m last week with his new manager Enzo Maresca since billing him as a "future England number nine". In line for his debut tonight in the Blues' Club World Cup opener against Los Angeles FC, the 22-year-old forward hit 12 goals in 37 Premier League appearances last term for the relegated Tractor Boys and became one of the most exciting young strikers in the top flight. Advertisement Still a little raw, the former Man City academy graduate already combines physical presence with an eye for goal - but what do his 2024/25 stats reveal about the tools he will bring to Stamford Bridge, and any areas that may need refining? To answer that, here are three stats that showcase Delap's key strengths... and three that point to aspects where growth is still needed. Delap's strengths A threat on the break: Strong, deceptively pacy and direct in his running, Delap will offer his new club a potent threat in transition and a number of stats highlight his threat in this regard. Only Liverpool's Mo Salah (7) scored more goals on the counter-attack last season than the England youth international (4), who also ranked 18th in the top flight for successful dribbles last term, with 40. Advertisement He makes goalkeepers work: Ploughing a lone furrow at times for Ipswich last season was a tough ask of a young centre-forward, but Delap was not in the habit of wasting opportunities when they came his way. The son of former Rory Delap hit the target with 32 of his 68 shots last season in the Premier League to register a very respectable shot-on-target percentage of 47% and he actually finished the season having out-performed his expected goals of 11.7 xG by a fraction. Delap also had a 100% record from the penalty spot, netting the two spot-kicks that came his way. He can lead the line: As touched upon, the burden of scoring goals and providing attacking threat at Ipswich fell upon Delap and the exciting young forward showed that he could shoulder the responsibility. In fact, Delap scored exactly a third of the Tractor Boys' Premier League goals last term - only three players in the English top tier (Salah, Wood and Isak, all 34%) netting a higher percentage of their team's goals. Areas for development? Aerial threat: Although Delap did win 58 of the 134 aerial duels he contested in the Premier League last term, his heading ability is not his strength and it will not have escaped Chelsea's attention that their new signing did not score a single headed goal last term. Advertisement Making the ball stick: As you would expect given his time at Man City's academy under Maresca, Delap is blessed with a very good first touch - but this does not mean he can't develop his ability to keep hold of the ball high up the pitch. Obviously the level of service into forwards can skew stats somewhat, but Delap ranked third in the Premier League for unsuccessful touches (with 104) and fifth for the number of times he was dispossessed (60). The matchwinning gene: Given that Ipswich only won four games during the entire 2024/25 campaign, there was little chance for Delap to prove his ability to score the goals that really matter, the type that secure three valuable points. None of the dozen goals he hit last term were matchwinners, and it will be interesting to see if Delap can start showcasing his killer instincts and help fire Chelsea to victory in Atlanta tonight.

Bryan Mbeumo responds to transfer speculation after Man United transfer bid

Bryan Mbeumo has spoken publicly for the first time since Manchester United and Tottenham launched their battle for his signature. The 25-year-old appears to be on his way out of Brentford after an outstanding season in which he scored 20 goals for the west London club. Advertisement Manchester United have seen a first offer rejected, in the region of £45m with £10m in add-ons, and Spurs have stepped up their interest after hiring ex-Brentford boss Thomas Frank to replace the sacked Ange Postecoglou. Speaking to Sky Sports at the Canadian Grand Prix, Mbeumo said: 'It (transfer speculation) is a bit new for me I would say! I think it can be the life of a footballer and you need to accept it. 'It's been my best season so far in the Premier League. And even collectively, I think we did play very good games. I think we've been unlucky to chase the Europe spot, but I think it's been a fantastic season.' Bryan Mbeumo is the subject of much speculation this summer (PA) United are reported to be preparing a second bid and believe they have the edge over Spurs in the race to lure Mbeumo. But Spurs now have Frank in their corner – as well as Champions League football after beating United in the Europa League final – and Mbeumo lauded his former manager's talents. Advertisement 'He's done so much for me, he literally trusted me from the start. I think he developed the team so well. He developed me as a human and a player as well. So I can only wish him all the best, and I'm sure he's going to do well. 'I think he knows everything. He's really smart. He knows where he wants to bring the team, how he wants to play. I think he's been fantastic for Brentford. I think he's going to [need] some time to adapt, obviously: [Champions League] games, more expectations, but I'm sure he's going to do well. 'He knows how to talk to people. He knows how to build a group. And that's why we've been playing so well.'

Malik Tillman finally has his moment with the U.S. men's team: 'He's a baller'

Print Close Published June 16, 2025 SAN JOSE, Calif. — The surprise on Chris Richards' face said it all. Told following the U.S. men's national team's resounding 5-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday that three-year veteran Malik Tillman had scored his first two goals for the USMNT, Richards couldn't believe it. "I had no idea," said the U.S. center back. "Malik, to be fair, he doesn't speak that much, so I wouldn't have known that. But that's crazy." Tillman earned the first of his 20 International caps in 2022. One of the final cuts from the USMNT's 2022 World Cup roster, the German-born Bayern Munich product is coming off a career season with PSV Eindhoven, which he helped win the last two Dutch titles and advance to the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League in consecutive seasons. Despite missing a chunk of the 2024-25 campaign because of injury, he still managed to score 16 goals in 34 appearances for PSV last term. Still, he'd never found the net at international level until Sunday. With most of the Americans' top stars — Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, Antonee "Jedi" Robinson and Tim Weah among them — missing for various reasons this summer, this Gold Cup and the two tuneups before it represent an opportunity for others to make their mark. Tillman, who manned an attacking midfield role for coach Mauricio Pochettino against the Soca Warriors, has made the most of his opportunity so far. He was the best U.S. player in last weekend's 2-1 loss to Türkiye. On Sunday, he was even better — with the goals to show for it. The 23-year-old opened the scoring for the hosts 16 minutes in, then doubled his team's lead before halftime. "I've been waiting for this moment for a long time," Tillman, his voice barely above a whisper as always, said after earning Man of the Match honors. "A lot of people have been waiting as well." Given his pedigree, Tillman's quality has never been in doubt. But until Sunday, he had struggled to duplicate his form for PSV with the national team — in part because his path to logging regular minutes was blocked. Now, with fellow attackers like Pulisic, Weah and Gio Reyna absent, he has his first real chance to occupy a significant role at the international level. The payoff has been a long time coming, both for Tillman and the USMNT "I understand him better now," said Pochettino, who replaced former coach Gregg Berhalter last September. "October, November, when we met for the first time, I think it was difficult to create this relationship that the player needs, and the coach needs, to trust each other," Pochettino said. "That is about time. Now, after a few weeks together, I really start to understand him, and he starts to understand us. "He's a fantastic kid," the former Chelsea, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain manager continued. "He's a talented player, one of the most talented players I think that we have in the USA." Tillman wasn't the only player to stand out against T&T. Diego Luna assisted on Tillman's second goal, then set up the Americans' third when his low shot hit striker Patrick Agyemang and then the back of the net. Luca de la Torre, who made the U.S. roster for the last World Cup but didn't play in Qatar, bossed the midfield alongside newcomer Sebastian Berhalter. With two late helpers, fullback Max Arfsten rebounded from a poor performance in last week's 4-0 loss to Switzerland. Haji Wright, another 2022 vet, scored the Americans' fifth on Sunday in clinical fashion. The victory simultaneously snapped a four-match losing skid and set the U.S. up well for its final two group games, against guest team Saudi Arabia and Haiti. (The Saudis beat the Haitians 1-0 in Sunday's nightcap. "That is only one victory," Pochettino said. "Now we need to see the next one." With the 2026 World Cup on home soil now less than a year away, the opportunity ins't lost on his players. "It's the last tournament that we have before the World Cup," Tillman said. "So it's very important for us to show ourselves, to show that we are still there, that we're still a good team, even though some players are not here." Nobody boosted their stock on Sunday as much as Tillman, who is finally beginning to show U.S. fans and players alike his personality, both on and off the field. "From the outside, he's very quiet. But then once you get to know him he's a teddy bear," said Richards of Tillman, who he's known since both were playing in Bayern's reserve squad six years ago. "When I first met him he didn't speak any English, and now he's playing for the national team," Richards added. "It's really amazing to not just see him develop as a player, but as a person. And he fully deserved two goals today. "He's a baller."
