Khushdil Shah accepts 50% match-fee fine from ICC for conduct against New Zealand
Pakistan all-rounder Khushdil Shah has accepted his fine of 50% match fee for a Level 2 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first T20I against New Zealand in Christchurch on March 16.
The left-hander was also handed three demerit points, marking his first offence in a 24-month period.
Khushdil was found guilty during the first T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand of violating Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which pertains to 'inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match).'
The incident occurred during the eighth over of Pakistan's innings when Khushdil forcefully barged into New Zealand pacer Zakary Foulkes.
Match officials deemed the act 'reckless, negligent, and avoidable,' classifying it as inappropriate physical contact with a high degree of force.
Match Referee Jeff Crowe sanctioned the all-rounder, who accepted the penalty, avoiding a formal hearing. If a player accumulates four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, they are converted into suspension points.
Two suspension points result in a ban from either one Test, two ODIs, or two T20Is, whichever comes first.
Shah featured in the second T20I as well, scoring 2 runs and taking 1 wicket as New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets.

Warner hails Karachi Kings
Karachi Kings captain David Warner credited experience, smart planning, and explosive finishing as the key factors in his side's 23-run win over Peshawar Zalmi, a result that sealed their place in the playoffs of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10. Speaking after being named Player of the Match for his 86 off 50 balls, Warner said the game plan was clear from the toss. "As I said at the toss, we wanted to bat first," Warner remarked. "After the first wicket, it was about assessing the conditions. Early on, me and James [Vince] knew it was a good wicket, so we just played normal cricketing shots. With the experience both of us bring, we knew if we stayed for around 10 overs, we could try and back-end it." Warner and Vince combined for a 162-run partnership off 89 balls for the second wicket, laying the foundation for a massive total. Though Warner admitted they left "a little bit out there," he was all praise for the finishing act. "The way Khushdil [Shah] and [Mohammad] Nabi came out and finished it off was amazing," he said, referring to the duo's 70-run stand off just 24 balls that powered Kings to 237-4. Reflecting on his own form and mindset, David Warner joked about the advantage of being "old" in cricketing terms. "The best thing about being old [chuckles] is that you've played a lot of games," he further stated. "I think it's about playing the game in front of you. When you're batting in the top order, you have time on your side. For us, it was all about building a partnership and momentum to set things up for the backend." Warner also hailed his bowlers, particularly Mir Hamza and Hasan Ali, for delivering under pressure. "Mir Hamza is our strike bowler. We want him to swing the ball up front, and he does exactly what I ask. He's been exceptional in the powerplay. Hasan Ali just brings so much energy, and the knowledge he has of the game is phenomenal," he said. Self-improvement Khushdil Shah shared that his match-winning knock against Peshawar Zalmi was the result of two years of focused self-improvement and hard work. Karachi Kings stormed into the playoffs of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 with a dominant 23-run victory over Peshawar Zalmi on Saturday. The highlight of the match was a blistering unbeaten 43 off just 15 balls from Khushdil Shah, who, alongside Mohammad Nabi (26* off 10), stitched together a game-changing 70-run stand in just 24 balls to take Kings to an imposing 237-4. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Khushdil reflected on the break in the tournament and how the team stayed focused during that period. "Yes, there was a break, but we ensured our practice and training continued. During the gap, we kept ourselves prepared for the resumption," he said. Khushdil Shah, often under scrutiny for his supposed weakness against short-pitched and outside off-stump deliveries, was asked about his evident improvement and fluency in this PSL season. He revealed how he worked on his perceived weaknesses and trained to adapt to various match situations. "When I was dropped from the national team, I knew I had to fix what was holding me back," Khushdil said. "Previously, I used to bat only in the last two or three overs, where the situation demands immediate hitting. That affected my rhythm and mindset." "So after being dropped, I decided to seriously work on my weaknesses and trained myself to play longer innings, because often top-order collapses mean you have to bat earlier. I realised that I needed to prepare myself for all kinds of situations and improve every aspect of my batting." He added that he consciously focused on shot-making across the ground and adapting to different situations. "It's not that I'm weak against short balls. In fact, in the death overs, bowlers rarely go shortthat's often the easiest delivery to put away," he further stated. "Sometimes you mistime it, sometimes you score, sometimes you don't. I've spent the last two years working hard on my batting, and all my focus has been on improving myself." When asked about attacking young Pakistani pacers Ali Raza and Ahmed Daniyal, who bowled the crucial final two overs, Khushdil Shah downplayed any notion of ease. With this win, Karachi Kings sealed their place in the playoffs and sent a strong message to the remaining contenders. The team will now look to carry their momentum forward and continue their charge for their second PSL title.

Sultans lose 7th game in HBL-PSL-X: Vince, Khushdil and Nabi shine for Kings
LAHORE: David Warner's Karachi Kings romped to a dominating 87-run win over Multan Sultans here at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore in first game of the double-header on Thursday. Karachi Kings now have four wins to their name, while Sultans lost their seventh game out of the eight they have played. Karachi was helped to the win by James Vince's unbeaten half-century, all-round brilliance of Khushdil Shah and Mohammad Nabi's economical three-for. Sultans were dismissed for 117 in 16.1 overs, chasing the mammoth 205-run target, with no one except Kamran Ghulam and Yasir Khan crossing the 20-run mark. For Kings Mohammad Nabi (3-14) and Khushdil (2-26) shared five wickets among them, while Mir Hamza (2-15) had the best figures among pacers. Aamir Jamal drew the first blood for Kings by dismissing Mohammad Rizwan in the second over, while Mir Hamza and Mohammad Abbas Afridi struck to dismiss Usman Khan and Yasir Khan (26, 17b, 1x4, 3x6s), respectively as Sultans were left reeling at 34-3 in 4.2 overs. Kings landed blow after blow as Nabi and Khushdil bowled in tandem to put pressure on Sultans' batting line-up. Kamran Ghulam's two fours and one six in his 25-ball 29 were not enough to put their innings on track as he ran out of partners on regular intervals. Sultans could only add 32 runs to their total for the last five wickets with Chris Jordan remaining unbeaten for a nine-ball 14 with the help of one four and one six. Earlier, Karachi Kings breached the 200-run mark only for the fourth time in HBL PSL history, two of which have come in 2025 against Sultans, as their batters went berserk. After opting to bat first, David Warner, who smashed a 13-ball 30 with the help of four fours and two sixes, and Tim Seifert (22, 11b, 3x4s, 1x6) laid the tone for the big score with a quickfire 53-run stand taking just 23 balls. Seifert and Warner fell to Ubaid Shah and David Willey, respectively in a space of three balls, while no.4 batter Omair Bin Yousuf returned for a five-ball solitary run as Kings finished the Powerplay with 60-3 on the board. Kings' top-scorer and no. 3 batter Vince and Muhammad Irfan Khan joined forces for the next 56 balls to collect 78 runs. With 91 runs on the board at halfway mark, Irfan tonked Usama Mir for consecutive sixes to ransack 16 runs off the 11th over. Curtis Campher provided the Sultans with much-needed breakthrough removing Irfan (40, 33b, 2x4s, 3x6s) in the 15th over. Vince, who remained unbeaten for 65 off 45 balls clubbing five fours and two sixes, then got together with Khushdil to help Kings score 66 runs off the last five overs. Khushdil smoked three sixes and two fours in his unbeaten 33 off just 13 balls helping Karachi to a solid total of 204-4 in the allotted 20 overs. PSL 10: Khushdil, Warner seal thriller for Karachi Kings
Karachi Kings edged past Peshawar Zalmi in a nail-biting Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 clash at the National Stadium, with David Warner and Khushdil Shah leading the charge in a tense chase that ended with just three balls to spare. Chasing a modest target of 148, Karachi overcame early stumbles and reached the target at 148/8 in 19.3 overs. Captain Warner anchored the innings with a fluent 60 off 47 balls, laced with eight boundaries. Khushdil Shah, later named Player of the Match, finished unbeaten on 23 off 17 deliveries, steering the side home under pressure. PSL X: Unbeaten Islamabad United thump Karachi Kings by 6 wickets Earlier, Zalmi were restricted to 147/8 after being put into bat. Captain Babar Azam top-scored with a steady 46 off 41 balls, but lacked significant support. Khushdil Shah also shone with the ball, picking 3/21 in a disciplined spell, removing key batters including Babar and Kohler-Cadmore. Abbas Afridi chipped in with 3/27, dismissing Haris and tailenders to stifle Zalmi's death-over surge. Alzarri Joseph's late cameo of 24* off 13 helped Peshawar push past 140. Luke Wood was the pick of the bowlers for Zalmi, claiming 3/22, including the wickets of Seifert and Vince in quick succession. But despite their fightback, Khushdil's composure at the death proved decisive. The victory gives Karachi a crucial boost in the mid-table race, while Peshawar are left to reassess their batting depth.
