Hasan Ali's 5-wicket haul powers Pakistan to victory over Bangladesh in first T20I
Lahore: Hasan Ali's career-best figures of 5 for 30 and Shadab Khan's all-round performance took Pakistan to a commanding victory of 37 runs against Bangladesh in the T20I series opener on Wednesday in Lahore. In the chase of a huge target of 202 in 20 overs, Hasan Ali struck his first blow when he removed Bangladesh opener Parvez Hossain Emon, caught at mid-on for 4 in his first over. In his next over, Tanzid Hasan took him for a brace of fours, but the fast bowler hit back to knock him over with a knuckle ball, for 31 off 17 balls. Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy had added 63 for the third wicket, but they didn't find the tempo that could've hurt Pakistan. Das was removed by Shadab Khan for 48 runs off 30 balls in the 11th over. Hridoy was also removed in the following over by Khushdil Shah. He managed only 17 off 22 balls, with just one four. Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Shamim Hossain also departed in the 13th over for just four runs courtesy of Pakistan skipper Salman Agha. Hasan Ali returned to the attack in the 18th over. Bangladesh were 141 for 6, still needing 61 off 18 balls. Jaker Ali was on 30 off 18 balls at that point, with his big-hitting offering Bangladesh slim hope. Hasan conceded a six with his first legal ball in his second spell, but removed Jaker on the next ball for 36 off 20 balls. In the same over, he had Tanzim caught and bowled for 1. In the final over, Hasan completed his five-for and dismissed Bangladesh for 164. Earlier in the first innings, Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman walked out to open for Pakistan. But both openers were back in the dugout within two overs. Mohammad Haris and Salman Agha were nearing a 50-run partnership for the third wicket before Haris was removed by Tanzim Hasan Sakib for 31 runs off 18 balls in the 7th over. Salman kept going for fifty, as the batter completed his fifty in the 11th over. However, Hasan Mahmud removed him in the following over for 56 runs. After Agha, Hasan Nawaz was also dismissed for 44 runs off just 22 balls, striking at 200 by Rishad Hossain in the 14th over. Pakistan went 18 balls without a boundary after Nawaz's dismissal. Shamim Hossain was the surprise package with his part-time offbreaks; he dismissed Khushdil Shah in the 17th over for his maiden T20I cricket. Shadab, though, went after Rishad in the 18th over, taking him for a sequence of 6,6,4. Shadab struck two more fours off Shoriful in the last over. Shadab's hits were vital to Pakistan crossing 200. Brief score: Pakistan 201/7 in 20 overs (Salman Agha 56, Shadab Khan 48, Shoriful Islam 2-32). vs Bangladesh 164/10 in 19.2 (Litton Das 48, Jaker Ali 36, Hasan Ali 5-30).

Warner hails Karachi Kings
Karachi Kings captain David Warner credited experience, smart planning, and explosive finishing as the key factors in his side's 23-run win over Peshawar Zalmi, a result that sealed their place in the playoffs of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10. Speaking after being named Player of the Match for his 86 off 50 balls, Warner said the game plan was clear from the toss. "As I said at the toss, we wanted to bat first," Warner remarked. "After the first wicket, it was about assessing the conditions. Early on, me and James [Vince] knew it was a good wicket, so we just played normal cricketing shots. With the experience both of us bring, we knew if we stayed for around 10 overs, we could try and back-end it." Warner and Vince combined for a 162-run partnership off 89 balls for the second wicket, laying the foundation for a massive total. Though Warner admitted they left "a little bit out there," he was all praise for the finishing act. "The way Khushdil [Shah] and [Mohammad] Nabi came out and finished it off was amazing," he said, referring to the duo's 70-run stand off just 24 balls that powered Kings to 237-4. Reflecting on his own form and mindset, David Warner joked about the advantage of being "old" in cricketing terms. "The best thing about being old [chuckles] is that you've played a lot of games," he further stated. "I think it's about playing the game in front of you. When you're batting in the top order, you have time on your side. For us, it was all about building a partnership and momentum to set things up for the backend." Warner also hailed his bowlers, particularly Mir Hamza and Hasan Ali, for delivering under pressure. "Mir Hamza is our strike bowler. We want him to swing the ball up front, and he does exactly what I ask. He's been exceptional in the powerplay. Hasan Ali just brings so much energy, and the knowledge he has of the game is phenomenal," he said. Self-improvement Khushdil Shah shared that his match-winning knock against Peshawar Zalmi was the result of two years of focused self-improvement and hard work. Karachi Kings stormed into the playoffs of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 with a dominant 23-run victory over Peshawar Zalmi on Saturday. The highlight of the match was a blistering unbeaten 43 off just 15 balls from Khushdil Shah, who, alongside Mohammad Nabi (26* off 10), stitched together a game-changing 70-run stand in just 24 balls to take Kings to an imposing 237-4. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Khushdil reflected on the break in the tournament and how the team stayed focused during that period. "Yes, there was a break, but we ensured our practice and training continued. During the gap, we kept ourselves prepared for the resumption," he said. Khushdil Shah, often under scrutiny for his supposed weakness against short-pitched and outside off-stump deliveries, was asked about his evident improvement and fluency in this PSL season. He revealed how he worked on his perceived weaknesses and trained to adapt to various match situations. "When I was dropped from the national team, I knew I had to fix what was holding me back," Khushdil said. "Previously, I used to bat only in the last two or three overs, where the situation demands immediate hitting. That affected my rhythm and mindset." "So after being dropped, I decided to seriously work on my weaknesses and trained myself to play longer innings, because often top-order collapses mean you have to bat earlier. I realised that I needed to prepare myself for all kinds of situations and improve every aspect of my batting." He added that he consciously focused on shot-making across the ground and adapting to different situations. "It's not that I'm weak against short balls. In fact, in the death overs, bowlers rarely go shortthat's often the easiest delivery to put away," he further stated. "Sometimes you mistime it, sometimes you score, sometimes you don't. I've spent the last two years working hard on my batting, and all my focus has been on improving myself." When asked about attacking young Pakistani pacers Ali Raza and Ahmed Daniyal, who bowled the crucial final two overs, Khushdil Shah downplayed any notion of ease. With this win, Karachi Kings sealed their place in the playoffs and sent a strong message to the remaining contenders. The team will now look to carry their momentum forward and continue their charge for their second PSL title.

PSL 10: Khushdil, Warner seal thriller for Karachi Kings
Karachi Kings edged past Peshawar Zalmi in a nail-biting Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 clash at the National Stadium, with David Warner and Khushdil Shah leading the charge in a tense chase that ended with just three balls to spare. Chasing a modest target of 148, Karachi overcame early stumbles and reached the target at 148/8 in 19.3 overs. Captain Warner anchored the innings with a fluent 60 off 47 balls, laced with eight boundaries. Khushdil Shah, later named Player of the Match, finished unbeaten on 23 off 17 deliveries, steering the side home under pressure. PSL X: Unbeaten Islamabad United thump Karachi Kings by 6 wickets Earlier, Zalmi were restricted to 147/8 after being put into bat. Captain Babar Azam top-scored with a steady 46 off 41 balls, but lacked significant support. Khushdil Shah also shone with the ball, picking 3/21 in a disciplined spell, removing key batters including Babar and Kohler-Cadmore. Abbas Afridi chipped in with 3/27, dismissing Haris and tailenders to stifle Zalmi's death-over surge. Alzarri Joseph's late cameo of 24* off 13 helped Peshawar push past 140. Luke Wood was the pick of the bowlers for Zalmi, claiming 3/22, including the wickets of Seifert and Vince in quick succession. But despite their fightback, Khushdil's composure at the death proved decisive. The victory gives Karachi a crucial boost in the mid-table race, while Peshawar are left to reassess their batting depth. Williamson likely to join Kings on April 23
Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who was drafted by Karachi Kings, is set to make his much-anticipated return to the squad for the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10. Sources within the Kings' management confirm that Williamson is expected to arrive in Pakistan on April 23 or 24. However, the right-handed batter has already missed the team's opening match and will also miss the next four matches of the tournament due to his commitments as a commentator in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). In his absence, Karachi Kings recently announced the signing of Pakistan U19 captain Saad Baig as a partial replacement. Baig joined the squad during the Kings' match against Multan Sultans. In other news, Karachi Kings, led by their newly appointed captain David Warner, secured a thrilling victory in their opening match of the tournament against Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium. Chasing a challenging 235-run target, the Kings reached the mark with four wickets to spare, thanks to an explosive partnership between James Vince and Khushdil Shah. Vince was the standout performer, scoring a blistering 101 off just 43 balls, including 14 fours and four sixes. His aggressive knock was complemented by a 142-run partnership with Khushdil Shah, who made a quickfire 60 off 38 balls, featuring five fours and four sixes. The two batters, however, fell in quick succession, leaving the Kings at 222/6 in 18.3 overs. But Muhammad Irfan Khan and Abbas Afridi held their nerve, guiding the Kings over the line with a crucial seventh-wicket stand, securing victory on the second delivery of the final over. Earlier, Multan Sultans had posted a formidable 234/3 in their 20 overs. Mohammad Rizwan was the star of the innings, remaining unbeaten on 105 off 63 balls, which included nine fours and five sixes.

Rizwan sheds light on Sultans' defeat
Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan highlighted factors that led to his team's four-wicket defeat in their HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 campaign opener against Karachi Kings at the National Bank Stadium on Saturday. Despite posting a massive 234-3, thanks to Rizwan's unbeaten century, the 2021 winner suffered a four-wicket defeat against hosts Kings with James Vince's 43-ball 101. Reflecting on his team's performance in the recently-concluded fixture, Rizwan shared that it was challenging for the bowlers to execute the plans because of the due factor. The wicketkeeper batter also highlighted sloppy fielding as one of the factors behind the defeat. "It was tough for bowling, the ball was getting wet," said Rizwan at the post-match presentation. "It was swinging a bit early, had that not been there we could have got 250. But credit to the opposition as well. "I knew the field was fast and the ball was travelling, and dew didn't help us as well. "Our execution wasn't up to the mark, that's why they were able to chase 234. There were a few misfields and that hurt us, we shouldn't have allowed them to get these big partnerships. The four-wicket defeat put Sultans at fourth in the PSL 2025 standings, while Kings acquired the third position. Milestone for Vince Vince scored a record century that helped the Kings chase down a mammoth 235-run target, alongside a half-century from Khushdil Shah. With this match-winning knock, the right-handed batter became the third-fastest centurion in PSL history, reaching the milestone in just 42 balls. The fastest century in PSL history belongs to Multan Sultans' Usman Khan, who scored his ton in 36 balls, followed by Rilee Rossouw with a 41-ball century. Chasing a daunting 235-run target, the home side reached the total with four wickets in hand and four balls to spare. Leading the way for the Kings was Vince, who top-scored in the run chase with a quickfire 101 off just 43 deliveries, including 14 fours and four sixes. He was also involved in a match-winning 142-run partnership with Khushdil Shah, who made a blistering 60 off 38 deliveries, laced with five fours and four sixes. The duo, however, were dismissed within the span of a few deliveries, bringing the Kings' total to 222/6 in 18.3 overs. But a sensible seventh-wicket stand between Muhammad Irfan Khan and Abbas Afridi guided the Kings over the line on the second delivery of the final over. For the Sultans, Akif Javed took three wickets, while Michael Bracewell and Usama Mir made one scalp apiece. Earlier, after being put into bat, the visitors posted 234/3 in their allotted 20 overs, courtesy of Rizwan's masterful knock. Rizwan remained unbeaten on 105 off 63 balls, featuring nine fours and five sixes, while Michael Bracewell contributed a rapid 44* off 17 deliveries, hitting five fours and three sixes. The Mohammad Rizwan-led side's next match is scheduled on Wednesday against the 2019 winners Quetta Gladiators, who sit at the top of the standings, courtesy of their 80-run victory over traditional rivals Peshawar Zalmi in Rawalpindi.
