DHL Express completes the modernization of its Air Hong Kong-operated fleet to boost Asia Pacific network capacity and fuel efficiency

Zawya5 hours ago

14 A330 freighters in total have been added to the regional network, retiring the previous A300-600F fleet
This is part of DHL Express's ongoing investment to enhance its network and match operational needs
The new freighter fleet, operated and maintained by Air Hong Kong, is exclusively used for DHL Express shipments
SINGAPORE - Media OutReach Newswire - 27 June 2025 - DHL Express has marked a significant milestone in its Asia Pacific network operations with the completion of its re-fleeting program. With the arrival of its 14 th A330 freighter and the retirement of its last A300-600 freighter, DHL Express will now have a newer and modern fleet of A330 freighters operated and maintained by its strategic partner in the region, Air Hong Kong.
Operated on behalf of DHL Express by Air Hong Kong, the A300-600F has served DHL Express's Asia Pacific network for the past two decades. It has played a crucial role in providing reliable intercontinental delivery services and contributed to consolidating Hong Kong's position as an international aviation hub. This fleet has successfully transported close to three million tons of express cargo over the years.
"Balancing our customers and operational needs has always been top of mind for us. Our decision to re-fleet aircraft years ago reflects our foresight to invest in ourselves so that we are ever-ready to support our customers," said Peter Bardens, Senior Vice President for Network Operations & Aviation – Asia Pacific, DHL Express. "The A300-600F was instrumental to our robust aviation network for many years. As we bid farewell to this valued member of our fleet, we are excited to welcome a new chapter with this new generation of freighters. We are confident that we will continue to deliver excellence in both our service capabilities and sustainability targets."
Compared with the A300-600F, the newer A330F offers greater resilience and reliability for DHL Express's aviation network as it is more fuel efficient, has a longer range of 7,400 kilometers and has 25 percent more payload capacity. With a flexible cargo loading system, larger cargo enhanced floor panel and wide-body fuselage, the A330F can accommodate a variety of pallet sizes and containers, making it more adaptable than the A300F to operate in and cater to different markets.
"The A300-600F has been a stalwart of Air Hong Kong's fleet and an important part of our story for over two decades. Its contribution to not only our business, but to the Hong Kong international aviation hub as a whole, has been considerable and we fondly bid farewell to this valued member of our fleet as we enter this exciting new chapter," said Air Hong Kong Chief Operating Officer Clarence Tai.
"The new-generation A330F brings with it considerable benefits that will enable us to further enhance our operations and services for our customers, and continue to play an important role in the ongoing growth of Hong Kong's air cargo sector. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department, the Cathay Group, our people, our suppliers and our key customer, DHL, for their firm support which has made this re-fleeting plan possible."
Air Hong Kong is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific Airways Limited. Its network has been fundamental to the DHL Express network in Asia Pacific.Hashtag: #DHLExpress #AirHongKong #NetworkOperations #Aviation

NTT has lodged preliminary prospectus to list REIT on Singapore Exchange

SINGAPORE - Japan's Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp (NTT) has lodged a preliminary initial public offering prospectus for its data centre real estate investment trust NTT DC REIT on the Singapore stock exchange, according to information published on the Monetary Authority of Singapore's website on Friday. Reuters reported on Wednesday that the company was looking to lodge the prospectus with the Singapore regulator as early as this week and list on the Singapore Exchange as early as July, citing two sources with knowledge of the matter. The prospectus did not disclose the IPO amount but the two sources had said in January it could be worth up to $1 billion in what would be the largest in Singapore in several years. The prospectus also did not say when the IPO would be launched. NTT did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment on Friday. The last listing of similar size was a $977 million IPO for Digital Core REIT in 2021, LSEG data showed. The IPO portfolio comprises six data centre assets located in the United States, Austria and Singapore, with a total appraised value of about $1.6 billion, according to the preliminary prospectus. The sponsor of NTT DC REIT is NTT Ltd, which is part of Japanese telecommunication giant NTT. Cornerstone investors include Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC and private investment and asset management firms such as AM Squared Ltd and Viridian Asset Management Ltd, the prospectus showed. Cornerstone investors are large institutional investors that subscribe to an IPO offering before it is open to the public. There is growing interest from companies seeking to list on the Singapore Exchange, after the city-state announced measures in February to strengthen its equities market, including a 20% tax rebate for primary listings. Hong Kong-listed China Medical System said on Tuesday it had applied for a secondary listing of its shares on the Singapore Exchange. IPO proceeds raised on the Singapore Exchange surged more than five-fold to $331.6 million in the first half of this year, from $59.3 million the same period a year ago, LSEG data showed. Oman: CAA records $272mln in 2024 revenue, highlights global safety rankings

Muscat – The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced on Wednesday that it recorded revenues amounting to RO105 million in 2024, underscoring its operational efficiency and financial sustainability. The announcement was made during the Authority's annual media briefing held in Muscat under the patronage of H.E. Dr Abdullah Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information. The event was attended by senior officials, strategic partners, and key stakeholders. Reviewing its performance over the past year, the CAA reported a 95.95 per cent compliance rate with aviation safety standards, placing Oman fifth globally in the effective implementation of aviation safety oversight. Major achievements included the activation of the southern runway at Muscat International Airport, the approval of the General Civil Aviation Policy, and the signing of nine international air transport agreements. The Authority also issued new regulations to enhance passenger rights protection and introduced a revised licensing framework for drone registration and air traffic management. As part of its digital transformation efforts, the CAA revamped 113 electronic services, implemented a document management system, obtained information security certification, and upgraded Oman's numerical weather prediction systems and wadi flood forecasting models. In terms of operational expansion, the CAA granted permits to 19 foreign airlines. Cybersecurity and aviation security policies were ratified, while operational manuals were activated for both Duqm and Marmul airports. Additionally, a new air navigation radar was installed in Jalan Bani Bu Ali to strengthen national airspace surveillance. Aviation performance indicators reflected growth, with a 2 per cent increase in passenger traffic compared to 2023, and over 120,000 flights recorded. Air cargo volumes surpassed 150,000 tonnes, while more than 540,300 aircraft transited Omani airspace – a 14 per cent rise year-on-year. The national meteorological monitoring network grew to include 80 stations across the country. Meanwhile, 520 consumer complaints were addressed and resolved efficiently. Internationally, Oman attained a 94.4 per cent compliance score in aviation security under the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) Continuous Monitoring Approach. The sultanate ranked fourth among G20 nations and third in the Middle East. Oman also achieved full compliance with aviation facilitation standards under Annex 9 of the Chicago Convention. Looking to the future, the Authority confirmed that detailed design work is nearing completion for Musandam Airport, with accelerated progress anticipated in early 2025. The tender for construction of the passenger terminal at Sohar Airport is expected to be issued before the end of the year. Meanwhile, a new aircraft hangar at Muscat International Airport is set to be inaugurated later this year, positioning Oman as a regional centre for aircraft maintenance. The event also marked the launch of an upgraded digital platform for Oman Meteorology, offering real-time weather updates. A commemorative postage stamp was unveiled to celebrate 50 years of Oman's membership in the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). H.E. Eng. Naif Ali al Abri, Chairman of the CAA, stated that the year's achievements reflect Oman's unwavering commitment to aviation safety and its alignment with international best practices. 'These results are a testament to our clear strategic vision and the strong collaboration between all partners. The civil aviation sector is a pillar of national development and plays a vital role in enhancing Oman's global connectivity,' he said. The commemorative stamp, released in partnership with Oman Post, highlights the sultanate's enduring contribution to international climate cooperation since becoming a member of the WMO in 1975. © Apex Press and Publishing Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc.
