Tourist dies after billboard collapses at Sharm el-Sheikh Airport
The passengers were waiting to board their flight to Astana on SCAT flight DV 2570.
The passengers were immediately transferred to Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital to receive the necessary medical care, the statement added.
Despite intensive medical efforts, one of them died from her injuries, while the condition of the two injured passengers stabilized after receiving the necessary first aid.
The Public Prosecution was immediately notified and began investigations to determine the circumstances of the incident. The flight was also cleared for takeoff after all required technical and security measures were taken.
The injured woman and her daughter were exempt from travel, and provided with hotel accommodation until they received the necessary medical care.
The Egyptian Civil Aviation Ministry issued a statement expressing its sincere regret and condolences.
The statement continued: 'As part of the Egyptian state's commitment to immediate communication and providing all forms of support, a call was held between the Minister of Civil Aviation, the Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan, and the Kazakh Consul in Cairo.'
'Sincere condolences were conveyed for this great loss, and an official, transparent investigation was confirmed by the Public Prosecution Office, and the necessary measures were taken to ensure full support for the passengers and their families,' the statement added.

Rana Raeis Joins Film "Saffah Al-Tagamoa"
Yara Sameh Egyptian actress Rana Raeis is the latest addition to the cast of the star-studded film "The Fifth Settlement Murderer" ("Saffah Al-Tagamoa"). Ahmed El Fishawy, Cynthia Khalifeh, and Mariam El Gendy round out the cast. Written and directed by Mohamed Salah Al-Azab and produced by Ahmed El Sobky, the film features El Fishawy playing Karim Selim, known in the media as the Saffah Al-Tagamoa. This is the second project to be developed about the murderer. In June 2024, Azab, the scribe of the crime TV series "Saffah Al Giza", is penning the series. The 8-episode show is produced by Ahmed El Sobky and has actor Hassan El Raddad lined up to take the lead role. Dubbed "the Fifth Settlement Murderer", in connection with a luxurious gated community on the outskirts of Cairo where he lived and killed his victims, Selim, a 36-year-old man and holder of a US passport, admitted during interrogation in May 2024 that he killed an unidentified number of women, other than the three whose bodies were discovered earlier that month. In the next weeks, the bodies of the women were discovered separately, each unclothed in deserted areas in provinces outside Cairo, as their clothes were extracted in other faraway areas afterward. The autopsy reports suggest that the three women were killed by the same person, as all showed similar signs of torture, including strangulation and flogging wounds. The evidence against the perpetrator also included a fingerprint on one of the women's clothes. Laboratory tests of the components of their stomach and blood further indicated narcotics in their system. Following investigations and the examination of CCTV footage in the areas leading to the location of the bodies, security forces managed to identify and apprehend the suspect. The authorities confiscated two mobile phones and a laptop belonging to him, on which he videotaped the incidents committed inside a soundproof room at his flat allocated for his practices. The videos in question showed him performing intercourse with his victims after they died. During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he knew his victims online, some of whom he claimed were courtesans. The suspect asked them to come over to his home, where he performed unusual sexual activities with them before he forced the women to consume drugs and killed them. The suspect acquired a college degree from the most prestigious university in Egypt, the American University in Cairo, and had worked as a teacher at an international school before he quit his job. Egypt Recovers 13 Artefacts from the UK and Germany
Ali abo deshish As part of Egypt's ongoing efforts to protect and preserve its cultural heritage and reclaim artefacts that left the country illegally, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities—represented by the Supreme Council of Antiquities—has received 13 artefacts that have now returned home from the United Kingdom and Germany. The recovery was coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates' Affairs, and in cooperation with all relevant Egyptian, British, and German authorities. Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy said that the repatriation of these pieces reflects the unwavering commitment of the Egyptian state, across all its institutions, to safeguard its unique cultural heritage. He praised the fruitful cooperation between the Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities, Foreign Affairs, and Emigration, and expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by British and German authorities in returning these artefacts to their rightful home. This, he added, reflects the depth of joint cooperation in protecting cultural heritage and combating the illicit trafficking of cultural property. Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, explained that the recovery of the artefacts from the UK followed the seizure and confiscation of the items by London's Metropolitan Police, after it was proven they had been smuggled out of Egypt through an international antiquities trafficking network. Regarding the German-held artefacts, the Egyptian Embassy in Berlin received notification from the authorities in Hamburg expressing their wish to return several pieces held in the city's museum, after confirming they had left Egypt unlawfully. Shabaan Abdel-Gawad, Director-General of the Department for Antiquities Repatriation and Acting Head of the Central Administration of Archaeological Ports, stated that the pieces recovered from the UK date back to various periods of ancient Egyptian history. They include: a limestone funerary stela from the New Kingdom depicting the deceased 'Baser,' overseer of builders, in a devotional scene before the god Osiris, the goddess Isis, and the Four Sons of Horus; a small red amulet in the shape of a baboon, a protective funerary symbol associated with the gods; a green faience-based vessel and a small blue faience funerary jar, both from the 18th Dynasty; part of a bronze crown adorned with a feather, snake, and ram's head, once belonging to a large statue of Osiris and datable to between the 22nd and 26th Dynasties; a funerary bead mask from the 26th Dynasty; and several funerary amulets made of faience and black stone. The artefacts recovered from Germany comprise a skull and hand from an unidentified mummy, in addition to an ankh amulet—the ancient Egyptian symbol of life.
