Person dies & another seriously injured after ‘getting into difficulty' in water at popular UK beach
Emergency services were scrambled to the North Tyneside coast at around 6pm on May 19 after reports two people had been caught in a rip current.

One casualty, who was found to be in a critical condition, was taken by air ambulance to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade confirmed that they tragically died three days three days later.

The Rio de Janeiro State Military Fire Department said they were called at 12:57pm and an ambulance was sent to Charitas Beach. Both parents were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Five days earlier, Luan had posted images of himself making the same jump from the Niteroi City Park ramps with at least two other people. Friends described him as a careful and cautious pilot who avoided flying in poor conditions. Following the accident, all activities on paragliding ramps in the local area were suspended. Roads to the launch site were closed and signs were put up reminding visitors to hire pilots accredited by authorities. Cops are still probing the circumstances of the accident. It comes after a Brit tourist died in a horror paragliding crash in Turkey after his parachute failed in April. Two homes were gutted in the blaze in Carrigaline early on Sunday Residents of a Cork housing estate admitted they were shocked at the behaviour of members of the public who photographed and video-recorded a major fire which destroyed several local homes - interfering with the work of the emergency services as they flocked to stare at the blaze. An oil tank then apparently caught fire and this resulted in the blaze quickly spreading to the rear of two local homes. Both were effectively gutted in the blaze. Miraculously, no one was injured as all the properties were successfully evacuated and residents took shelter in local homes while firefighters battled the inferno. Gardaí defied the heat of the fire and wind conditions to bring it under control. Chief Fire Officer Chirs Gledhill said fighting the blaze was made very challenging because of wind gusts. Gardaí are now investigating the precise cause of the fire but it is believed to have been accidental.

The female paraglider crash landed on the Beer Head Coast Path in Devon and fell 10 feet onto the ground during the horrific scenes on Friday afternoon, a coastguard spokesperson said.
