Woman Told She's Getting Miniature Poodle—2 Months Later Realizes Mistake

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A woman who thought she had brought home a miniature poodle puppy quickly realized something wasn't quite right. The woman, who posts to TikTok under the username @poodlediariesvlog, shared a clip on June 28, holding up the new puppy she got from a breeder in Atlanta, Georgia. She asked simply: "Does this look like a mini poodle? This dog is literally so huge." Sure enough, two-month-old puppy Ace already looks almost as big as full-grown miniature poodles, who as adults weigh up to 15 pounds, and grow up to 15 inches tall, according to the American Kennel Club. And while the puppy does appear to have a curly golden coat, the woman said that when she took Ace to get his shots, the veterinarians told her straight out: "This is not a miniature poodle." "And I'm like, 'oh that's crazy, because the breeder said it was,'" she said. She was then told that it was likely Ace is "some type of Doodle," a poodle crossed with a different breed—and so she asked TikTok for their opinions. And users responded in their droves, watching the video close to 200,000 times, as one predicted Ace was actually a Goldendoodle, while one thought: "Girl that's a golden retriever." One urged everyone to only buy purebreds that are AKC registered, which "ensures the poodle is full-bred." The AKC permanently records a dog's place in their breed history, providing an official AKC Registration Certificate, and adding to the world's largest database of dog DNA profiles for parentage verification and genetic identity. This ensures reliable registration records, according to the AKC website. Other commenters pleaded for the woman to still keep and love Ace regardless of his breed, as one put it: "You got a much better beautiful." Ace and his owner. Ace and his owner. TikTok @poodlediariesvlog The mystery of Ace's continued for weeks, until on July 24, she posted another video declaring: "DNA results are in." And it revealed that Ace is not a full miniature poodle, but a mix of a toy or miniature poodle, and 10 percent cocker spaniel, making him a cockapoo—as well as, she wrote, "100 percent a good boy." For those worried Ace wouldn't be wanted as he wasn't a full miniature poodle, they had nothing to worry about. Instead, he's still a loved, pampered pet, and they even got a second puppy named Nala, a poodle, with their TikTok account now filled with the two dogs growing up together. The Morning After: The best Switch 2 games (so far)

A couple of months since the Switch 2 launched, we've all got to grips with the new magnetic-latching Joy-Cons, the jump in graphic fidelity and (honestly) the wait for a next-gen Zelda or Mario title. With the arrival of Donkey Kong Bananza , the new console has its first entirely new breakout platformer hit, we asked the Engadget team for the must-have games on the Switch 2. With a leap in processing power, the Switch 2 can now handle ostensibly huge games like Hitman and Cyberpunk 2077 . In fact, the latter's release on Nintendo's console nudged me into finally playing the game. I last played it on Google's Stadia cloud gaming service (RIP), and gave up at the tutorial. Already, I'm having a more successful playthrough. I can even share my save between Switch 2 and PS5 — because I'm that lunatic who owns the game on both. I'm also playing my way through the Switch 2 edition of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , which now runs incredibly smoothly. This time, perhaps, I'll finish it. Read on for the full list — we'll be updating it as more games arrive. — Mat Smith Get Engadget's newsletter delivered direct to your inbox. Subscribe right here! Malcolm-Jamal Warner's mother breaks silence over son's tragic death

Malcolm-Jamal Warner's mother has spoken publicly for the first time since her son's tragic death. The Cosby Show star, 54, died on 20 July after drowning during a family holiday in Costa Rica and authorities reported he was caught in a strong current while swimming on a beach in Limón. His mum Pamela Warner has now spoken about how she is dealing with his passing with a sense of peace and resilience – declaring: 'For those of you who are at a loss, pained by the suddenness of his departure, ache for his presence or just to hear his voice one more time, to see his beatific smile one more time, be comforted that he was at peace and more importantly, he did not suffer.' Pamela made her statement in a heartfelt Instagram post. Initial reports suggested malcolm's eight-year-old daughter was with him in the water where he died but was quickly pulled out. But the Judicial Investigation Agency of Costa Rica later clarified she had been ashore at the time of the tragedy. Despite efforts by bystanders and the Costa Rican Red Cross, Malcolm-Jamal was pronounced dead at the scene. No lifeguards were present, and officials noted the drowning occurred very rapidly. His official cause of death was listed as asphyxiation by submersion. In her statement, Pamela also reflected on the symbolism of water in her son's life and death, writing: 'Malcolm was birthed through water and transitioned through water. This was his time. 'His mission on earth had been completed.' She also honoured Malcolm-Jamal's legacy, saying he left 'an indelible mark on the world and on countless hearts' and that 'all who met him, however briefly, were better for the encounter.' Pamela described her son as a 'kind, loving man with a huge heart for humanity,' committed to helping others recognise their 'inner strength' and potential for transformation. She added: 'This was his latest mission and work, transformation, in order for you to be fully present in your life.' Pamela also praised Malcolm's talents as an actor, musician, teacher, coach and business partner, noting his Grammy nominations and win. She said: 'Hold close to whatever part of Malcolm's life that touched yours. 'In keeping it near, you keep his spirit alive – nourishing you with the peace, love, joy and light that embodied Malcolm-Jamal Warner.'
