Abu Dhabi Grand Slam final round to take place in the emirate
ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The final round of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam will take place from May 16-18, 2025, at Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi. Organised by Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro and UAE Jiu Jitsu Federation, the event will conclude the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam for the 2024-2025 season, which has taken place in numerous cities worldwide, including Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Tokyo, Beijing, Rome, Moscow and London.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam final round attracted Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro top-ranked jiu-jitsu athletes, who were honoured for their outstanding performance throughout the season, reflecting the event's status as one of the world's premier jiu-jitsu events and consolidating Abu Dhabi's position as a global jiu-jitsu capital.

UAM steals show at UAE Muay Thai Youth Open Championship
18 Aug 2025 22:37 Abu Dhabi (Aletihad)The UAE Muay Thai Youth Open Championship concluded with great success in Dubai with the UAM team securing the main three-day competition was held at Dubai World Trade Centre, featuring 422 fighters from 49 clubs in the country and even abroad. In the team standings, UAM secured 17 medals with a whopping 15 of them being gold along with a silver and bronze. Al Khaleej Club followed in second place with 15 medals (5 gold, 9 silver, 1 bronze), while ADMA Academy came third with 13 medals (5 gold, 4 silver, 4 bronze). The finals featured 109 bouts across two rings, with age groups ranging from 10 to 17 years, all under the supervision of 30 referees. Organised by the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, the event reaffirmed the federation's commitment to developing the sport and providing a competitive platform for young athletes ahead of the Youth World Championships to be hosted in Abu Dhabi next Al Neyadi, President of the Asian and Arab Muay Thai Federations and Chairman of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, congratulated the winners while commending "the participants for their commitment, skills, and spirit".He added: "The championship proved to be a vital platform for young talents to gain competitive experience, showcasing the strength of our grassroots development and the promising future of Muay Thai in the UAE. "We are proud of the regional and international participation, which further reflects the strength of the sport's foundation and the great engagement with our federation's programs and events throughout the season. "We take pride in the outstanding talents and high-level skills shown by the new generation of athletes, and we are confident that these achievements will drive us closer to our global aspirations for Muay Thai," said Al Neyadi while extending his appreciation to all stakeholders and even families of the athletes to ensure "the success of this championship". Honouring the champions on the final day of the championship were Sorayut Chasombat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the UAE, Mustafa Alak, President of the Iraqi Muay Thai Federation, Ali Khoury, Board Member of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, and Ahmed Al Janahi, Head of Events at Dubai Sports Council.

The event drew a large crowd and created an energetic atmosphere, featuring top athletes across the under-18, adult, and master the end of the round, Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club topped the overall standings, with MoD UAE in second place and Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club in final day witnessed fierce contests that showcased a high technical level, reflecting the rapid development of jiu-jitsu in the UAE and its leading role on the global stage. Experienced athletes delivered strong performances, raising the level of competition and intensity. Khaled Zawia, Al Jazira Club's under-18 athlete who won gold in the 66kg division, said he was always makes it a point to compete in the Championship 'because the strong participation from clubs and athletes gives me the chance to sharpen my skills and develop my game. The matches were very tough, but I managed to win all my bouts, secure the gold, and add valuable ranking points for my club.'Mohamed Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: 'The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship embodies the role of sport in strengthening social cohesion and reinforcing noble values across generations.
