Cambria County announces April as Child Abuse Prevention Month
EBENSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — Cambria County Commissioner Scott Hunt adopted a resolution to declare April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Members of the Children and Youth Services and the Circle of Support Child Advocacy Center planted pinwheels, the national symbol for child abuse prevention, in the front lawn garden of the Cambria County Courthouse. The commissioner followed that up with the proclamation.
The issue may be at the forefront of minds in the month of April, but preventing child abuse is a year-round effort.
'All the children in your life be a trusting adult for them,' Diana Grosik, the executive director of the Child Advocacy Center said. 'Any child that has a trusted adult outside of their family relationship, that is huge.'

(WTAJ) — State police in DuBois are investigating a burglary in Clearfield County where thousands of dollars in tools and construction equipment were stolen from a residential garage. Troopers responded June 7 to a report of a break-in at a property along the 9700 block of Bennetts Valley Highway in Huston Township. According to investigators, the victim, a 45-year-old woman from Penfield, reported the theft likely occurred sometime between May 1 and June 7. Among the stolen items are a 2024 Cub Cadet zero-turn lawn mower with a 60-inch deck, four Stihl power saws, a Stihl weed eater, a Grizzly wood planer, and custom-cut oak floorboards. Other reported items include a yellow and blue roof scaffolding set, a 2024 yellow gas generator (brand unknown), a large dark-colored toolbox filled with miscellaneous tools (brand unknown), a torpedo heater (brand unknown), and a roofing shovel. Police said there was no sign of forced entry into the garage. The estimated total value of the stolen items exceeds $4,000. Blair County Coroner: Remains of baby Agnes Doe exhumed for DNA

(WTAJ) — The Blair County Coroner announced that the remains of a baby that was found in 1987 have been exhumed for DNA. In 1987, an infant was discovered in a dumpster in Bellwood, and despite a police investigation, the mother was never found. That baby, commonly called Agnes Doe, has remained unidentified for over 30 years. The Blair County Coroner's Office shared that on Tuesday, June 10, along with Pennsylvania State Police, the remains were exhumed, and that they hope to use current DNA analysis tools to find a familial match. They added that anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Hollidaysburg State Police Crime Unit. Six from Cameron and Elk County arrested for dealing meth, fentanyl
PENNSYLVANIA, Pa. (WTAJ) — Six people from Cameron and Elk County, along with one other, have been charged with dealing drugs, according to Attorney General Dave Sunday. Seven people have been arrested for allegedly selling meth and fentanyl in multiple counties of Northern Pennsylvania, including Cameron, Elk, McKean, Potter and Warren counties. Here are the names of those charged: Kyle P. Brown, 39, of Emporium Marry Ann Stolburg, 61, of Ridgway Justin Meyer, 38, of Saint Marys Beau Azzato, 20, of Saint Marys Richard Bauer, 64, of Johnsonburg Josh Dalton, 35, of Ridgway Benjamin Simms, 31, of Coudersport PD: Man on meth tried to burn someone's American flag in Elk County According to a release, Simms was a mid-level dealer who was trafficking drugs from New York, while the rest were street-level dealers. They also noted that Simms and Brown were allegedly working together while the others operated independently. Each is facing charges of possession with the intent to deliver, conspiracy, and other related offenses. 'These traffickers pushed poisons into rural Pennsylvania communities,' Attorney General Sunday said. 'My mission to target drug traffickers spans the entire Commonwealth, and I commend our partners for collaboration that will have real impact in this region.'
