Belgian princess to resume Harvard studies after Trump move to ban foreign students
BRUSSELS (Reuters) -Princess Elisabeth, 23-year-old heir to the Belgian throne, will be able to continue her studies at Harvard University, her spokespeople said, after she was caught up in a U.S. government move to bar the entry of foreign students to study there.
"I can confirm that, for now, all the conditions seem to be in place for the princess to continue her studies at Harvard," the Belgian Royal Palace's communication director Xavier Baert said on Tuesday, confirming a newspaper report.
In May, when U.S. President Donald Trump's administration announced the ban, the Royal Palace voiced concern that Princess Elisabeth, being a Belgian national, might be unable to continue her studies at Harvard.
But in June, a federal judge blocked the administration from implementing the proclamation Trump signed that sought to bar foreign nationals from entering the U.S. to study at Harvard.
The Trump administration has said it is trying to force change at Harvard and other top-level universities across the U.S., contending they have become bastions of leftist "woke" thought and antisemitism, which they deny.
The administration has appealed the judge's ruling, but with the new school year set to begin on Sept 2, the injunction against the foreign student ban remains in effect.
The future queen of Belgium is set to begin her second year of a two-year master's program in Public Policy at Harvard, a course designed to broaden students' perspectives and sharpen their skills for "successful careers in public service", according to Harvard's website.
Almost 6,800 international students attended the 388-year-old university in its most recent school year, comprising about 27% of its student population.

It is also where many Malaysians and tourists from all over the world converge,' he said. 'Not having as many flags fluttering like before sends the wrong signal about Malaysians' sense of unity and pride.' Despite the challenges, Fong's team continues to encourage flag display participation. They plan to distribute an additional 1,200 flags in the capital city, especially in Bukit Bintang, by August 31, supplementing the 2,300 flags already distributed. The community leader accompanied Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun in recent flag distribution activities at hawker centres and healthcare facilities in Salak South. CRIME & COURTS PUTRAJAYA, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- Justice and accountability in the case involving the late Zara Qairina Mahathir must be fully upheld in accordance with the law, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. He said truth and justice for the victim cannot be determined through conversations on social media or public opinion. 'Those who organise a series of demonstrations, what are they looking for? To seek the truth. To uphold justice. So how? It must be in line with the law and legal process. 'The truth cannot be established by taking at face value what the pathologist who was detained yesterday said, or by believing the theory of a teacher claiming Zara was murdered and abused with a washing machine. 'Truth and justice must go through the legal investigation process. Who has the authority to conduct legal investigations? The police, and that is exactly what we are doing," he told reporters after the Home Ministry's National Day and Malaysia Day celebration and its monthly assembly here today. Saifuddin said the ministry is aware that many rumours surrounding the student's death are being circulated and that such claims will not stop. He said although he had already presented the investigation report on the case in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, slander and false news would continue to spread. Saifuddin said so far, a total of 195 witness statements have been recorded to ensure the investigation is truly complete and comprehensive.
