The financial results of Maroc Telecom bolstered by its subsidiaries in Africa
On April 25, Maroc Telecom published its consolidated results for the first quarter of 2025, underscoring the group's resilience in an increasingly competitive market. While revenues in Morocco continue to decline, strong performances from its African subsidiaries have helped stabilize overall activity.
Consolidated revenue stood at 8.88 billion dirhams, remaining virtually unchanged (+0.1% at constant exchange rates). The 3.7% drop in domestic revenue was offset by a 4.1% increase from Moov Africa subsidiaries, driven by the growth of mobile data, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), and Mobile Money services. The customer base now totals nearly 80 million, reflecting a 3.6% year-on-year increase.
Adjusted EBITDA fell to 4.39 billion dirhams (-5.7%), with a margin of 49.4%. Net income dropped by 5.9% to 1.44 billion dirhams, while operational cash flow declined by 11.6%.
In Morocco, the group's activities remain under pressure: revenue dropped to 4.55 billion dirhams, with EBITDA down 9.3% and cash flow from operations (CFFO) down 16.4%. This erosion is reflected in a 2.7% decline in the mobile customer base and a 3.9% drop in mobile internet users. Maroc Telecom is banking on a strategic partnership with Inwi to share fiber and 5G infrastructure, backed by a planned investment of 4.4 billion dirhams over three years.
In sub-Saharan Africa, the subsidiaries continue to show positive momentum despite varying local contexts. Their revenue reached 4.63 billion dirhams, with EBITDA up 3.2% and EBITA rising 8.3%. Growth in Mobile Money, wider smartphone adoption, and rising demand for ultra-fast broadband are driving these gains.
The group is also pursuing its innovation strategy with the launch of iNJOY, a 100% digital mobile offering in Morocco, and new partnerships with Visa, Zoho, and Vodafone to enhance services for both individuals and businesses.

Chinese Tire Manufacturer Yongsheng Rubber to Build Factory in Kenitra
Doha – Shandong Yongsheng Rubber, a major Chinese tire manufacturer founded in 1986, has announced plans to construct a tire factory in Morocco's Kenitra Automotive City. The company made its announcement on Wednesday, according to confirmed reports. The plant will be built within the special economic zone along Kenitra's Atlantic front. Construction is expected to begin within the next six months, with operations anticipated to start in two to three years. The facility will initially produce 6 million semi-steel radial tires annually, with plans to gradually increase capacity to 12 million units per year. The manufactured tires will be primarily destined for export to European, African, and American markets. Yongsheng Rubber currently operates several production units in China with a combined annual output of 20 million semi-steel radial tires and 6 million all-steel radial tires. The company markets its products under brands including Yongsheng, Jixiang, Tracmax, and Road King. A company representative cited in the specialized industrial portal Tanhei Gongye Wang highlighted Morocco's strategic advantages. 'The location of Morocco, facing Europe and at the confluence of trans-Saharan logistics axes, constitutes an open window to three continents,' the executive stated. The Chinese manufacturer also plans to capitalize on preferential tariffs offered through Morocco's free trade agreements with numerous economic jurisdictions, including the European Union, the United States, and several West African countries. Before settling on Kenitra, Yongsheng Rubber explored other potential locations. A delegation from the company visited the Oriental region's Skills and Competencies Center (CMC) in January and February. The team sought to assess available training programs and identify potential human resource pipelines for a possible industrial site at the Nador West Med port-industrial complex, which could create approximately 1,800 jobs. The project has already completed preliminary administrative procedures, including regulatory registration. This new Chinese venture supports Morocco's industrial transformation into an automotive assembly and export platform. Morocco's OCP Revenues Reach $2.18 Billion in First Quarter of 2025
Rabat – Morocco's OCP Group has announced that its revenues hit $2.18 billion in the first quarter of this year, up from $1.95 billion recorded during the same period last year. In a statement today, the group indicated that its gross profit rose to $1.5 billion, up from $1.27 billion. Meanwhile, its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, known as EBITDA, remained solid at $756 million compared to $768, citing a 'strong EBITDA margin of 35%.' The group has attributed this strong performance to a pointed increase in the global demand for fertilizer, which has remained strong throughout the past months. This has been reflected through an ongoing recovery in Europe, as well as increased imports by African countries, like Ethiopia. Demand also came from Oceania and Brazil. Explaining these market dynamics, OCP said general demand for phosphate remained strong through continued demand recovery. Acknowledging low global inventory levels, the company also highlighted how indications show that demand will still be strong in the second quarter. Beyond other markets, India is a key driver of global demand. This will contribute to enhancing demand, especially supporting increased purchasing. This will necessitate an improvement in the group's efforts to meet growing global demand. In addition to enhancing production, OCP also promised to continue to adapt its commercial approach to boost conditions and meet demand. OCP emphasized that the first quarter of this year delivered a strong start for the group, fueled by higher rock volumes and increased demand for both fertilizers and phosphoric acid. Stressing the importance of the achievement, OCP said growth in its gross profit was recorded despite rising input costs, including sulfur. The group's expeditions experienced a major change compared to 2024, with this latest report indicating that OCP's expenditures in the first quarter of this year reached $599 million compared with $927 million during the same period last year. Among the group's corporate highlights is the completion of a $1.75 billion bond issuance on international markets. This took place in two tranches, $750 million and 1 billion, with maturities of five years and long 10 years, as well as coupons of 6.10 % and 6.70%, respectively. 'This new bond, oversubscribed by more than 4 times, was the largest order book ever recorded by OCP,' the group announced, noting that this development reflects international investor confidence in its financial strength and long-term growth strategy. OCP is one of the largest players in the fertilizer sector. The group's strategy is also focused on African development: its ultimate ambition — and vision — is to help the continent create a sustainable agricultural revolution, enabling it to be self-sufficient in terms of food security.
