My grandson is being framed: Grandmother of prime accused in Meghalaya murder
KANPUR After the arrest of four people in the Meghalaya murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi, one of the prime accused, Raj Kushwaha's grandmother said that her grandson was being falsely implicated and that he was innocent.
Kushwaha, 21, was accused of killing Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya during his honeymoon over an alleged affair with the latter's wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi.
'My grandson cannot do such a thing...he's innocent and being falsely implicated. The entire family is in shock. I have no knowledge of how or when the alleged relationship with Sonam developed,' Lalli Devi, wife of late Darbari Singh, said in Rampur village of UP's Fatehpur district.
Rampur is a predominantly Rajput village, with a population of approximately 1,000. It is largely inhabited by Kushwaha (Kachhwaha) Rajputs. Smaller communities include Bhadauria and Chandela Rajputs, a Hada Rajput household, with the remainder comprising Prajapati, Yadav, Nai, and Dalit families.
Raj Kushwaha, now a central figure in the Meghalaya murder investigation, is the only son of Ramnajar Singh, the eldest son of Suryabhan Singh.
Ramnajar Singh had migrated to Indore for work around 15 years ago, with Raja later joining him to continue his studies. Following his father's death due to Covid four years ago, Raja dropped out of high school and began working at the plywood factory owned by Sonam Raghuvanshi's father in Indore. This employment formed a critical link to the case, as Raj was alleged to have developed a relationship with Sonam Raghuvanshi.
Raj's mother had visited Rampur village along with her daughters for a family wedding around 15 days prior to the murder, but he did not accompany them. Upon learning of Raja's alleged involvement in the murder, his elder sister, Kajal, left Rampur for Indore with an uncle, said family sources.
'Whoever is guilty should get nothing less than death sentence – even if it turns out to be Raj,' said villagers.
The four accused in the murder are Sonam Raghuvanshi, Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha and Anand.
No injury marks on Sonam's body: Report
VARANASI A medical examination report revealed that no injury marks were found on the body of Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime suspect in the murder of her newlywed husband Raja Raghuvanshi and who was found at a roadside eatery in UP's Ghazipur district.
The examination was done by a panel of three doctors at the Medical College Hospital in Ghazipur on Monday evening.
Two gynecologists and a doctor posted on emergency duty examined Sonam Raghuvanshi. She appeared nervous during the examination. However, no injury or scratch marks were found anywhere on her body. This test was a health check-up, and the examination process went on for about two hours, said a doctor.
After being found normal, she was taken to the court from where she was given transit remand.
Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly killed during a honeymoon trip in Meghalaya by contract killers allegedly hired by his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi.

Maharashtra: Wife kills husband with axe 3 weeks after marriage
Sangli: Just days after the gruesome Raja Raghuvanshi murder case sent shockwaves across the country, another chilling crime involving a newlywed couple has emerged, this time from Maharashtra, where a woman, married for just three weeks, allegedly killed her husband. The woman used an axe to kill her husband while he slept following a heated argument over the latter's insistence on consummating their marriage 15 days after the wedding. The incident took place in Sangli district on the night of June 10, officials confirmed on Thursday. According to the police, the couple -- Anil Lokhande and Radhika Lokhande -- were married on May 23. The officials mentioned that it was Anil's second marriage. His first wife had died of cancer. On Tuesday night, the couple engaged in a violent altercation over consummation that reportedly continued late into the night. Radhika was exasperated by Anil's insistence, and around midnight, when he retired to bed, in a sudden act of rage, she picked up an axe and fatally struck her husband on the head, the officials said. He died instantly, officials said. Shortly after committing the murder, Radhika reportedly called her cousin and confessed to the crime. Police arrested her on Wednesday and produced her before a magistrate, who remanded her to two days' police custody. A case has been registered against her under Section 103 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder. Police sources indicate that ongoing family discord may have led to the crime, though further investigations are underway to determine the precise motive. This shocking incident comes close on the heels of the sensational murder of Indore-based Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja and his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, were married on May 11 and had left for their honeymoon on May 20. Merely three days into the trip, both went missing. The case, which initially began as a missing person report, took a sinister turn when Raja's body was discovered in a deep gorge in Meghalaya on June 2. His autopsy revealed two severe head injuries -- one at the back and another on the front -- confirming a brutal murder. Further investigation uncovered a premeditated plot allegedly orchestrated by Sonam, her lover Raj Kushwaha, and three of his friends -- Akash Rajput, Anand Kurmi, and Vishal Singh Chauhan. On June 7, Sonam surrendered in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. All five accused, including Sonam and Raj, confessed to the crime and have been remanded to eight days of police custody.

Nexa Evergreen land Scam: ED raids 24 sites across Rajasthan, Gujarat
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday conducted a large-scale search operation at 24 locations across Rajasthan and Gujarat in connection with a money laundering case worth ₹2,700 crore linked to the Nexa Evergreen project. 'ED has recorded an ECIR (Enforcement Case Information Report) on the basis of FIRs filed by Rajasthan Police against Nexa Evergreen. They duped investors to the tune of ₹2,700 crore by luring them with promises of high returns and land plots in Dholera city, Gujarat. Searches were conducted at 24 locations in Sikar, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jhunjhunu, and Ahmedabad,' sources said. The company is accused of defrauding nearly 62,000 individuals, primarily by offering affordable flats and land parcels in Dholera, Gujarat. In cases where land could not be allotted, investors were promised high-interest returns. Although some received possession initially, the scheme was later exposed as fraudulent, leaving most investors without recourse. A senior official told Business Standard that the company had raised around ₹2,700 crore from investors through misleading assurances. The company's promoters, Subhash Bijarniya and Ranveer Bijarniya—both from Sikar in Rajasthan—allegedly targeted both civilians and government employees, including members of the police and armed forces. The duo marketed a scheme that promised to double investments within 14 months. Nexa Evergreen's background Nexa Evergreen Private Limited is a Gujarat-based real estate firm incorporated on 17 April 2021 and registered in Ahmedabad. The company claims to be engaged in buying, selling, and developing residential and commercial land. Separate ED action in Jaypee Group case last month Last month, the ED said it had seized ₹1.7 crore in cash and documents related to immovable assets during raids against Jaypee Infratech Ltd (JIL), Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JAL), and associated entities in a separate money laundering investigation linked to alleged fraud involving homebuyers. The searches were carried out on 23 May at 15 premises in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Mumbai under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). "The search covered offices and premises of JAL, its related entities, and its promoter directors," the agency stated. Searches were also conducted at premises associated with key business partners of JAL, including Gaursons India Pvt Ltd, Gulshan Homz Pvt Ltd, and Mahagun Real Estate Pvt Ltd, the statement added.
