Fishermen protest over sea access in Andhra's Bapatla
A brief scuffle with police occurred during the dharna, but was quickly defused after District Collector J Venkata Murali and SP Tushar Dudi invited fishermen representatives for talks. The Collector assured that rocks blocking the canal mouth would be removed immediately and fishing routes restored. A special committee with officials from multiple departments and fishermen representatives will investigate the issue. A field-level report is expected within a month. Any illegal encroachments found will be dealt with under the CRZ Act. Dudi confirmed police cooperation in restoring routes. Fishermen leaders submitted complaints, and officials assured strong legal action and protection of livelihoods.

A.P. police bust fake websites racket, two arrested in Rajasthan
The Bapatla district police arrested two persons hailing from Rajasthan on charges of creating fake websites of Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) and major temples in the State. As many as 127 complaints have been registered in 18 States against the accused and they had allegedly duped people of around ₹50 lakh, said Bapatla Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi. The accused, identified as Paramjeet and Bittu, natives of Sahasan village in Deeg district of Rajasthan, allegedly created fake websites of Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD), Srisailam and Trimkeshwar temple and cheated devotees, the SP told the media on Friday (August 1, 2025). The cyber fraudsters also deceived many tourists by creating fake website on APTDC, private resorts and resorted to online frauds by booking rooms. The accused were wanted in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Delhi, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu and other States, Mr. Tushar said. Acting on a complaint lodged by the manager of Haritha Resorts of Suryalanka in Bapatla district that a fake website titled 'Haritha Beach Resort Suryalanka' has been created and many tourists visiting the beach with fake bookings, the police registered a case. A team led by Bapatla Rural Circle Inspector Srinivas Rao and Reserve Inspector Srikanth arrested the accused in Rajasthan, and seized mobile phones, SIM cards and other material. The accused were produced in a court at Kaman in Rajasthan and brought to Andhra Pradesh on a Prisoner Transit Warrant. They were also produced before the court in Bapatla district, the SP said. The court allowed two-day police custody of the accused and they were being questioned. Further investigation is on, the SP added.

Bapatla police bust pan-India cybercrime gang
Bapatla: The Bapatla district police have cracked a major cybercrime case, arresting two individuals from Rajasthan for operating fake websites that defrauded tourists and devotees across India. The accused, Paramjeet (20) and Bittu (21), both sons of Kulwant Singh from Sahasan village in Deeg district, Rajasthan, created fraudulent websites mimicking websites of popular tourism destinations and religious sites. Their primary target was Haritha Resorts in Suryalanka, operated by the Andhra Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation. District Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi revealed that the gang also created fake websites for renowned pilgrimage sites, including Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, Srisailam Devasthanam in Andhra Pradesh, and Trymbakeshwar Temple in Maharashtra, deceiving devotees seeking accommodation bookings. The investigation began following a complaint by G Ashok, Manager of Haritha Resorts Suryalanka, who reported the fake 'Harith Beach Resort Suryalanka' website. A case was registered under Crime No 110/2024 for cheating and IT Act violations. The investigation uncovered a staggering 127 complaints filed across 18 states, with the gang swindling approximately Rs 50 lakh from victims. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana reported the highest number of complaints (59), followed by Maharashtra (14) and Uttar Pradesh (12). The cybercriminals' activities included 49 fake Haritha Resorts bookings, 11 fraudulent temple accommodation scams, and 52 other online frauds involving OLX scams, fake identities, and UPI-based frauds. SP Tushar Dudi formed specialised teams, including Bapatla Rural Inspector Srinivasa Rao and District IT Core Sub-Inspector Naib Rasool, to track the suspects. The accused were arrested on July 23, 2025, in Rajasthan and brought to Guntur District Jail under tight security, on a transit warrant. SP Dudi urged citizens to avoid clicking on unknown links and verify websites before making payments. He encouraged cybercrime victims to call the helpline 1930 or file complaints at The Bapatla District Police IT Core Team and investigating officers received certificates of appreciation and cash rewards for their exemplary service in solving this pan-India cybercrime case.

Gang Runs Fake Tirumala Temple, Resort Booking Websites, Loots Visitors
Hyderabad: The Bapatla district police in Andhra Pradesh have arrested a pan-India gang from Rajasthan responsible for creating fraudulent websites that mimicked popular tourism and temple booking portals. The gang, which defrauded victims of nearly Rs 50 lakh, was caught after a meticulous investigation across the country. Bapatla Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi said Paramjeet, 20, and Bittu, 21, both from Rajasthan's Deeg district, have been arrested. "This gang created fake websites that closely resembled the official portals of Haritha Resorts in Suryalanka and several prominent temples, including Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam and Srisailam," Mr Dudi said. "They preyed on tourists and devotees who were unknowingly booking rooms and services through these fake sites and transferring money online." The investigation began after G Ashok, manager of Haritha Resorts at Bapatla Suryalanka, filed a complaint. He reported that a fake website, "Harith Beach Resort Suryalanka", was deceiving tourists and defrauding them. The police filed a case and formed two special teams, one for investigation and another for technical analysis, to track down the fraudsters. The technical team's analysis revealed the wide-ranging nature of the gang's operations. A total of 127 complaints against the group were found across 18 states. These included 49 related to the fake Haritha Resorts website, 11 concerning fraudulent sites for TTD, Srisailam, and Trimbakeshwar, and dozens of other online frauds like OLX scams and UPI-based deception. The highest number of victims was reported in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, followed by Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. "We urge the public not to trust fake websites or click on unknown links for payments," Mr Dudi said. "We are conducting awareness campaigns to educate citizens about these cyber frauds. Any victim should immediately call our toll-free helpline, 1930, or file a complaint at The special teams tracked the accused to their hideout in Rajasthan's Sahasa, where they were arrested. A mobile phone and two SIM cards were seized from one of the accused. The two men have been brought to Guntur district Jail. A local court gave the police two-day custody of the accused.
