Walton Family Foundation artist grant ends after 7 years
A grant program that supported NWA artists will end after the Walton Family Foundation did not renew funding.
Why it matters: Mid-America Arts Alliance's Artists 360 program provided grants to artists of different mediums and was broader in the costs it covered than similar grants, Mid-America Arts Alliance spokesperson Sarah Mote told Axios.
It wasn't tied to specific projects and could go toward expenses like studio space, Mote said.
What they're saying:"As priorities evolve, we regularly assess and refine grantmaking," Walton Family Foundation spokesperson Kathryn Heller told Axios in an emailed statement. "We deeply appreciate Mid-America Arts Alliance for leading a remarkable program that has positively impacted artists across the region."
By the numbers: The program received $2.4 million in grants since 2018, and gave money to 157 artists in Benton, Carroll, Crawford, Sebastian and Washington counties, according to the alliance.
Zoom out: Mote expressed gratitude for the program's lasting effects on the art community, noting the professional development and mentorships it helped facilitate.
Mid-America Arts Alliance will continue to grow its other programs in NWA and is always looking for funding for art programming, she said.
What's next: A showcase to celebrate the grant recipients is set for April 27 at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville.

R-Truth reflects on match with John Cena: ‘He ain't all the way gone'
R-Truth came to Saturday Night's Main Event determined to bring back the old, babyface John Cena. Despite being played for a fool in the match's final moments, Truth still believes there's some good left in wrestling's 'Last Real Champion.' 'Y'all saw it, I almost had him,' said Truth after the match. 'He's right there from coming back. We gotta bring him back before he leaves, before he's gone, before he's done.' Advertisement In the closing moments of Saturday's match, Cena looked ready to blast Truth with the Undisputed WWE Championship. Instead, he hesitated and handed the belt to the referee—seemingly taking the high road. But it was simply a ruse. As the referee turned away, Cena kicked Truth in the groin, setting up the finish. Moments later, Cena put Truth away with an Attitude Adjustment. Despite these shenanigans, Truth believes Cena's hesitation is a positive sign. 'I saw something in his eyes, he had an opportunity to take advantage of me, he didn't do it. So he ain't all the way gone,' said Truth. Though some may call him naive, Truth, 53, delivered an entertaining performance against his childhood hero, the 48-year-old Cena. He entered to Cena's theme music, wearing a bright red shirt styled like Cena's iconic merch. In place of Cena, however, was Truth doing Cena's signature salute pose. A label reading 'Ron'—Truth's real first name—was taped over 'John' in 'John Cena.' Advertisement During the match, Truth, a former NWA World Champion, brought the fight to the 17-time world champion, using Cena's moves against him: the 5-Knuckle Shuffle, the Attitude Adjustment, and the STF. Still, it wasn't enough to snap Cena out of his evil trance. Later in the show, Cena got involved in the World Title match between champion Jey Uso and Logan Paul. Cody Rhodes, WWE's former quarterback, returned to the field of play to intercept Cena and even the odds for Uso, laying the groundwork for a tag team match at WWE's Money in the Bank on June 7. As for Truth, his mission to snap Cena out of his wicked funk doesn't appear to be over. He still doesn't believe Cena's bad-guy act is for real. 'I don't think he really wanna ruin wrestling. This was more than a championship, this is a man's career. This is professional wrestling's legacy. I was that close. I was that close,' said Truth. Advertisement More from

Kenzie Paige Highlights Which Match Is A Perfect Representation Of Who She Is
One of the faces of the National Wrestling Alliance is current NWA Women's World Champion Kenzie Paige. She has been holding on to the world title for over 600 days. Recently, Kenzie Paige was interviewed by WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. During the interview, Paige shared that her match for the NWA Women's World Championship against the former champion Kamille is the perfect representation of who she is in the ring. Advertisement 'Kenzie Paige versus Kamille for the NWA Women's World Championship. Still holds up. Still has a very emotional attachment to me, obviously. But I feel like that's the perfect representation of, I can hit hard, I can pull at your heart strings. And I can play dirty if I have to. I feel like that one's a perfect example of who Kenzie Paige is.' Kenzie Paige on her 625+ days as NWA Women's World Champion and potentially beating Kamille's record During the same interview, Paige shared her thoughts on her long title reign. 'I feel like I'm not really too focused on the days that I have the championship. I just want to make sure that the days I do have it, it matters. And whenever my time does come and I'm not the NWA Women's Champion anymore, I want people to remember, 'Kenzie Paige, she did something with it. She did something for the NWA. Her being the champion was good for her but it was good for the NWA.' That's the kind of thing I want to focus on there.' Advertisement 'But I also feel like, a lot of my run with the NWA has been history, right? The youngest NWA Women's Champion, first Triple Crown, first NWA Television Women's Champion. Just a lot of things. First woman to own a territory within the National Wrestling Alliance. And the youngest of course. But that is a lot of my reign and run at the National Wrestling Alliance is based on the fact that I've made history over, and over, and over, and over.' Paige noted how her match against Natalya would be historical too, and for different reasons. 'I've just been trying to build up not only my name but the NWA. I'm trying to give back some of that prestige feeling and just… It matters to me, and I want it to matter to everybody else. So, being a part of the history, being in those historical matches, it does mean a lot to me. And I just want to keep doing that and keep growing it to what I know it can be.'
