Trump Media ETF to Hold Both Bitcoin and Ether, Company Says

Yahoo5 hours ago

An exchange-traded fund planned by Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT) will combine Bitcoin and Ether in a single tradable asset, the company said Monday.
The Truth Social parent company, founded by President Donald Trump, earlier today said it intended to launch an ETF that would directly hold both Ether and Bitcoin, with a quarter of its assets in the former and the rest in the latter. The launch is planned for "later this year," the company said.
The company earlier this month said it planned to offer a Bitcoin-only ETF, and in late May said it was raising money to acquire Bitcoin.
Trump Media earlier this year announced plans to offer crypto products. Crypto.com in March said it would partner with the company to offer the ETFs.
Shares of Trump Media & Technology Group lost about 4% Monday to close just under $19, bringing their pullback to more than 40% in 2025. Bitcoin was recently trading a bit below $109,000, while Ether was changing hands above $2,600.

Bitcoin Mining Costs Soar as Hashrate Hits Records: TheMinerMag

Bitcoin BTC miners are facing mounting pressure as the network's hashrate and difficulty continue to climb, tightening margins even as bitcoin's price holds steady, according to TheMinerMag's monthly report. The network's mining difficulty hit a record 126.98 trillion, propelled by a 14-day average hashrate of 913.54 exahashes per second (EH/s). Transaction fees in June fell below 1% of block rewards, and hashprice dropped to $52 per PH/s before rebounding slightly. Escalating competition and energy costs are expected to drive production expenses above $70,000 per BTC, up from $64,000 in the first quarter of the year, the report said. To remain competitive, public miners like MARA Holdings (MARA), CleanSpark (CLSK), Riot Platforms (RIOT), and IREN (IREN) are accelerating buildouts. MARA grew its hashrate by 30% in May, while HIVE (HIVE) added 32% after energizing a new facility in Paraguay. Cipher Mining (CIFR) is targeting a 70% boost by expanding its Texas operation. Top-tier ASICs now cost between $10 and $30 per terahash, the report said, with operational payback periods stretching as long as two years. That's assuming a $0.06/kWh electricity rate — already out of reach for some. Terawulf, for instance, paid $0.081/kWh in the first quarter, pushing its fleet hashcost up by over 25%. Meanwhile, mining equities are decoupling from bitcoin's price performance. IREN, Core Scientific (CORZ), and Bit Digital (BTBD) were all in the green over the last month, while Canaan (CAN) and Bitfarms (BITF) were both down double digits during the same time period. The shift suggests that investors are paying closer attention to business models rather than just Bitcoin's price action. Global tensions roil oil prices in wild swings

Global tensions roil oil prices in wild swings originally appeared on TheStreet. The ongoing Israel-Iran conflict has led to significant volatility in the markets, with oil and Bitcoin among the assets most affected. When the conflict began on June 13, it led to a significant surge in oil prices. But come June 17, and all gains have been erased. Oil, which was trading north of $75 on June 13, was quoted at $69.77 at press time. Bitcoin, on the other hand, began declining in value as the conflict began and immediately hit as low as approximately $103,000. However, it has risen more than 3% within 24 hours and was trading at $108,836.65 at press time. Wall Street veteran Jordi Visser, who holds 30 years of professional experience, sat down with popular crypto host Anthony Pompliano and discussed the price dynamics of these two assets. Every time there has been a war in the world, the immediate reaction is like what we have seen so far, Visser said. It holds particularly true when the conflict is in the Middle East or Russia, he added. Bitcoin, Visser argued, is always going to be related to the economy — especially the digital economy — at the end of the day. Bitcoin is going to be part stocks and part get-away-from-the-governments, so it's never a geopolitical hedge, according to Visser. The analyst also referenced the Russia-Ukraine war, which he said didn't make such an impact on the markets, unlike what people would like to believe. Such conflicts usually end up being major events for the first few days before flaming out as long as there are no significant escalations, Visser said. Therefore, these events normally don't have a long-term impact, he added.
