The Indiana Fever have been missing Caitlin Clark during her injury absence.

While the Fever look to improve without their star guard, another hyped-up team, the Dallas Wings, is also playing with a star sidelined.
Paige Bueckers has been sidelined for the Wings, currently on concussion protocol.
During her time on the sideline, the Wings played the Seattle Storm, losing 83-77. Dallas star DiJonai Carrington received a flagrant foul. Carrington delivered a hard foul to Skyler Higgins in the loss to the Storm, decking the WNBA star on a fast break.
After the game, Carrington took to social media, sending a message to fans calling her a "dirty player."
"Yall fAnS swear i'm such a dirty player," Carrington said. "I'm SO over this narrative bc if u really know bball, u know I jus play hard asf & never give up on a play. &yup, we challenged the last couple flagrants & got em rescinded bc I'm ALWAYS tryna make a play on the ball nun more, nun less."
DiJonai Carrington finished the loss to the Seattle Storm with 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Carrington also had a similar allegation last season when the former Connecticut Sun star poked Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark in the eye during the postseason.
Both Carrington and Clark mentioned that the incident was an accident, but it's clear that the allegations haven't just begun this season.
The Wings will now look to bounce back on Friday against the Los Angeles Sparks at 9:30 p.m. ET, currently sitting at 1-7 on the season.

double-a-gap-mug-nfl-offense
double-a-gap-mug-nfl-offense originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Imagine walking up to a poker table and watching two players push all their chips to the middle before the dealer even flips the cards. That's what a double A-gap mug is. A bluff, a bet, and a dare — all at once, except with linebackers. Advertisement Popularized by Mike Zimmer in the early 2010s, the double A-gap mug became a go-to for defensive coordinators who were tired of sitting back and letting opposing offenses dictate everything. The quarterbacks who were well-prepared mentally could show up on game day largely stress free and knowing exactly what to expect. The result of the game (or at the very least the success of the offense) largely boiled down to execution. It's a much different game now and this is one of the three most significant ways defensive coordinators are taking things in their own hands. Here's the setup: two linebackers hover right over the center, lined up directly in the A-gaps (the spaces between the center and each guard). They're just standing there — staring the quarterback down like bodyguards outside the club. Advertisement But here's the kicker: they might blitz. They might drop back. One might go while the other stays. Or they might just force the center to slide protection that way, opening up chaos elsewhere. It's stress. It's confusion. It's control. And it's why your interior offensive line better be as solid as your blindside tackle. And how do the Dallas Cowboys combat all of this? Three ways ... 1 - Trust in the intellectual acumen of QB Dak Prescott? Check. 2 - Invest in guard play. Tyler Smith and Tyler Booker? Double-check. 3 - Rely on the creative experience of new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, an offensive mind? We can't "check'' that box yet ... but we are hopeful. Advertisement In today's NFL, pressure doesn't always come off the edge. It comes right up the gut — sometimes disguised, sometimes delayed, and often times deadly. Defenses are no longer passive. They're aggressive. And that means the offense needs to be aggressive in fighting back. Jets' Proposed 'Nightmare' Scenario Is Bad News for Justin Fields
Jets' Proposed 'Nightmare' Scenario Is Bad News for Justin Fields originally appeared on Athlon Sports. We all know it will be tough sledding for Aaron Glenn and his New York Jets this season after trying to clean up the mess left by Aaron Rodgers and Co. Advertisement No one is under any illusions about what the expectations are for the Jets, and in truth, there really aren't. Justin Fields is the leader of this team, at least for this year, with a two-year deal that Nick Shook described as a one-year tryout, allowing the Jets to part ways if things go south in 2025. So it is a win-win for the Jets. However, for Bleacher Report, which describes the Jets' season as a nightmare, Fields fails to show up at all, and New York again props up the AFC East. "Justin Fields doesn't take a leap while Maye does, and the Jets again become the clear-cut bottom-feeders in the division," Bleacher Report writes. New York Jets head coach Aaron R. / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Now, is that really a nightmare season? We hardly think so. Advertisement Based on how the Jets structured Fields' contract, it is easy to envision the franchise not being completely sold on Justin as the starter, and if he bombs, then New York will have another high draft pick to go quarterback hunting with next offseason. Yes, having Fields elevate his game under the guidance of Tanner Engstrand would be ideal, but it isn't the end of the world if he doesn't, because the Jets have things in place to move on from Justin if it doesn't work out. Granted, Glenn would want to win more games, but finishing last in the division and Fields failing isn't a nightmare scenario (we think), more so one something that some believe has a legitimate chance of happening. And if it does, the Jets will dust themselves off and get back on the quarterback horse next offseason. New York Jets Have a Bottom Tier 'Big 3'
New York Jets Have a Bottom Tier 'Big 3' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Jets had a highly lauded 2022 NFL Draft class. The Jets drafted a pair of standout offensive weapons in wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall. Advertisement Wilson is the class's leading receiver, with 3,249 yards under his belt, in spite of inconsistent and poor quarterback play. Meanwhile, Hall is the class's leader in scrimmage yards with 3,625, despite suffering a torn ACL in his seven-game rookie season. The duo of 2022 draftees are teaming up with Wilson's former college teammate, quarterback Justin Fields, for 2025. The trio will serve as the Jets' "big three" offensively for the upcoming NFL season. Sports Illustrated's Matt Verderame compiled a ranking of every NFL team's "top offensive triplets" for 2025, and the Jets' trio of Hall, Wilson and Fields did not inspire much confidence for Verderame, being ranked at just No. 26. "New York is starting over with Fields taking over under center." Verderame wrote. "He has some veteran faces as his top options in Hall and Wilson. Despite rancid quarterback play for much of his career, Wilson has been one of the league's top receivers since entering the league three years ago, posting 101 catches, 1,104 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024. Hall is a quality player in his own right, rushing for 876 yards and five scores last season." Advertisement Verderame's main concern for the trio appears to be Fields, despite his 4-2 record as a starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. The Jets were ranked below trios such as the Denver Broncos' Bo Nix, RJ Harvey and Courtland Sutton, the New England Patriots' Drake Maye, Rhamondre Stevenson and Stefon Diggs, and the cross-town New York Giants' Russell Wilson, Tyrone Tracy and Malik Nabers. The Jets will have the benefit of protecting this trio, more notably Fields and Hall, with one of the NFL's best offensive lines for the upcoming season. Hall's workload remains a question mark, but pairing Wilson with his collegiate quarterback could pay dividends, especially with Fields getting more time in the pocket than he has had his entire NFL career. The duo of Hall and Wilson should not raise concerns, although the rest of the skill players on offense may.
