Amazon Investment in India: American e-commerce company Amazon on Thursday revealed its plan to invest over Rs 2,500 crore in India this year. The company is planning to expand its network in India so that its services can reach more and more people. Amazon's Plan In India
According to Amazon, with the investment of Rs 2500 crore, the company is focussing on expanding its network and upgrading its services to deliver faster and reliable services. Technology and innovation is more advanced than before and the interest of the employees can also be improved.
This investment will enhance the company's processing capabilities, upgrade its operational network, and improve its delivery infrastructure, ultimately providing customers with superior service. India's E-Commerce Market Growing Rapidly
It is worth mentioning that Amazon announced the investment at a time when India's e-commerce market is growing rapidly. The market valuation in 2024 was USD125 billion, and it is estimated to reach USD550 billion by 2030. The market is also supported by the increasing number of internet users in India.
E-commerce growth in the country is being fuelled by a younger generation increasingly embracing online shopping. This trend is expanding e-commerce beyond urban centers, into smaller towns and rural areas.
Companies like Amazon, Flipkart and JioMart dominate India's e-commerce sector. India's e-business landscape has changed completely because of the investment of billions of dollars in the rapidly growing e-commerce market in recent years.
However, this new investment by Amazon can prove to be a challenge for existing e-commerce players such as Flipkart and Meesho.

Western Railway to fit nearly 6,000 AI-based cameras on 978 engines: ‘Will give useful info in emergencies, enhance safety'
Western Railway (WR) is planning to install artificial intelligence (AI)-based cameras on 978 of its freight and passenger engines soon. With an estimated cost of around Rs 100 crore, the cameras will be installed to monitor activity both in and around the engines, across all regions, including Mumbai. 'The AI cameras will enable track condition monitoring, railway crossing observation and activity around the engine. Through monitoring irregular movement on tracks, these cameras will assist in determining the factors behind accidents and further improve the capability to analyse incidents,' Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, said. The cameras will be installed on 810 electric and 168 diesel engines in WR's fleet. There will be six CCTV cameras installed on each engine – one in each of the two driving cabs, four along all directions outside the engine, and an additional camera scanning the periphery, WR officials said. These will be 360-degree recording cameras that track movement and assist in the investigation of accidents. The CCTV cameras will be high definition and high resolution, making sure that important information like track conditions, signals and surrounding obstacles are well captured. The systems will be in offline mode, making sure that data will not be accessed or hacked in to. 'This installation will be used to yield useful information in the event of emergencies, which will assist in investigations and enhance general safety,' added Abhishek. The installation process will begin through a tender process, with emphasis on agencies capable of furnishing their own software, hardware and source code. The installation is supposed to end by March 2026. Through the surveillance of both the exterior and interior of trains, the railway is looking to improve surveillance, accountability, and safety measures in its operations.

Net direct tax collections dip 1.39% to Rs 4.59 lakh crore despite 5% rise in gross mop-up; refunds surge 58%
India's net direct tax collections for the ongoing financial year 2025-26 declined by 1.39 per cent to Rs 4.59 lakh crore as of June 19, mainly due to a sharp surge in refund issuances, according to government data released on Saturday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In the same period last year, net direct tax collections had stood at Rs 4.65 lakh crore, according to news agency PTI. Gross direct tax collections, however, rose by 4.86 per cent to Rs 5.45 lakh crore, up from Rs 5.19 lakh crore collected during the corresponding period in FY24. The fall in net collections is attributed to a 58 per cent increase in refunds, which touched Rs 86,385 crore so far this fiscal, indicating improved processing and faster taxpayer services. Advance tax collections between April 1 and June 19, 2025, showed a modest growth of 3.87 per cent at Rs 1.56 lakh crore, a significant slowdown from the 27 per cent year-on-year growth recorded in the same period last year. Corporate advance tax collections rose 5.86 per cent to Rs 1.22 lakh crore, while non-corporate advance tax collections fell 2.68 per cent to Rs 33,928 crore. Corporate tax collections overall fell by over 5 per cent to Rs 1.73 lakh crore, while non-corporate tax collections, largely personal income tax, saw a marginal rise of 0.7 per cent to Rs 2.73 lakh crore. Securities Transaction Tax (STT) collections also grew by 12 per cent, reaching Rs 13,013 crore during this period. Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department has introduced the 'e-Pay Tax' feature on its official portal to simplify the tax payment process, according to news agency ANI. The broader tax reform agenda is also advancing, with the Income Tax Bill 2025 currently under review by a Select Committee. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman had earlier announced that the new Bill, which aims to replace the existing Income Tax Act of 1961 with a more concise, litigation-free law, will be taken up in the monsoon session of Parliament. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The proposed structure also ensures zero tax liability for individuals earning up to Rs 12 lakh annually due to a raised rebate of Rs 60,000, as stated by the finance minister in her Budget speech. The government has invited stakeholder suggestions on the draft Bill to fine-tune the reforms.

Rs 3200000000000000: This huge amount is giving US president Trump sleepless nights, he is now begging before China due to... Difficult days are ahead for Prsident Donald Trump as US's national debt has crossed $37 trillion (about Rs 32 lakh billion). This has rung alarm bells in the financial and policy world. The cost of paying interest on the debt is reaching about $1 trillion every year. This level can soon cripple the federal budget. It can stop the essential work of the government. As of June 20, the US government owes more than the country's entire economy in a year. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that if there is no major reform, the debt will reach 156% of GDP by 2055. Currently, an annual deficit of $2 trillion is increasing the debt. This is happening due to increased spending and slow growth in revenue. The biggest threat is the interest bill. About a quarter of the federal tax income is now being spent on repaying the debt. This means that less money will be left for programs like Social Security, Medicare, national defense and infrastructure. Millions of Americans depend on these programs. The debt of $37 trillion is a matter of great concern for US in many ways. It affects US's economic policies and global relations. It is also considered to be the reason behind Donald Trump's softening of tone against China in the trade war. This loan can create many problems Budget cuts aren't the only threats. Economists say this debt route could reduce private investment, raise borrowing costs and hamper economic growth. The CBO estimates that if the debt is not brought under control, GDP could be reduced by $340 billion over the next decade, it could lose 1.2 million jobs and slow wage growth. Raising interest rates would worsen the damage. As global lenders demand higher returns to finance the U.S. deficit, borrowing costs will rise for businesses, homeowners and the federal government. Threat of financial crisis is increasing on US The risk of a financial crisis is increasing. If investors lose faith in the government's ability to manage finances, there could be a sharp rise in interest rates or a collapse of the dollar. This could weaken economic stability. There could be global shocks. However, the US economy is still growing. But its pace has slowed down considerably. This year GDP growth is estimated to be just 1.4%–1.6%. Unemployment is rising. Inflation is still above target. The margin for error is shrinking. The old sayings of economists, business leaders and people like Elon Musk are now coming true. If America continues on this path, not only will future generations pay the price for it, but this crisis may come very soon.
