ArtMobile, CCSI to offer children's activities at Sailboard Beach on Saturday
Gail Holinka, founder of the ArtMobile, said the traveling art bus will have a few different activities, including maracas to be decorated and wind kites to create.
"(It's) kind of fun to keep that music and wind theme," Holinka said.
The wind kites start from weaving paper into different shapes, such as a star or flower, then putting it on a stick. Another craft will be coloring fabric and placing that on a stick as though it was a baton twirler.
The crafts will be on the beach from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. "Hopefully we'll have beautiful weather," Holinka said.
Client Community Services Inc. will have about 10 different games, offering a variety for children of all ages.
"We have a little dino dig for the younger kids and a duck pond," shared Ashley Clark, CCSI support services director. "Then some basketball shooting games and football shooting games for the older kids and some stuff in between there."
CCSI will provide temporary tattoos and face painting along with carnival games from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, or until supplies run out.
"This is free of charge for anybody who's participating," said Jeri Schettler, CCSI executive director. "This is something that CCSI does to give back to the community."

The Mets snapped their losing streak with a 12-6 win over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday afternoon at Citi Field. Here are some takeaways... - One of the biggest reasons behind the Mets' four-game losing streak coming into the day was the lack of production from the top of their order. The Fab 4 of Brandon Nimmo, Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto, and Pete Alonso have been struck in brutal slumps at the plate -- but some of them delivered on Saturday. - Alonso got the scoring started by crushing a 1-2 Kai-Wei Teng fastball for a three-run homer in the bottom of the first. The big man has now left the yard on back-to-back days to bring him just two away from tying Darryl Strawberry's all-time franchise record. - The Mets' offense was relatively quiet after Alonso's homer, but then Nimmo and Lindor took things over. The bottom of the order started rallies in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings and the dynamic duo at the top came through each time to deliver run-scoring hits. Nimmo, Lindor, and Alonso finished the day a combined 8-for-12 with five runs scored and 10 RBI. - Cedric Mullins played a part in each of those rallies, picking up his first Met hit in the fourth before stealing second and then scoring on Nimmo's RBI hit. The CF had a chance to make another highlight reel play in the first, but he just mistimed his jump. - Brett Baty was on-base three times with two walks and a hit, he also scored each time. - Kodai Senga struggled mightily for the fourth consecutive outing since returning from the IL. The right-hander worked around a pair of baserunners in the top of the first, but the Giants were able to get to him in each of his next three innings of work. He loaded the bases with a double and two walks in the second, but limited the damage to just one run with some help from a double play. Senga appeared to put together his first clean inning in the third, but he issued a two out walk and then former Met Dom Smith evened things up with his third homer of the season. San Fran then took their only lead in the fourth on a Jung Ho Lee double and Grant McCray single. Senga was able to get through that frame without any further damage, but he still closed his book with four runs allowed on five hits and three walks with four punchouts across just four innings of work. - With the new depth in the bullpen, Reed Garrett was brought in behind Senga in the fifth. After Garrett put together a clean inning and then retired the first batter in the sixth, Gregory Soto came on and struck out back-to-back left-handed hitters. Tyler Rogers threw a scoreless inning in his first outing as a Met, then with the score out of hand Brooks Raley put up a zero in the eighth, and Rico Garcia allowed a two-run homer but put the finishing touches on the victory and strong effort from the revamped bullpen. - With the Phillies falling to the Tigers, the Mets have jumped back into first place in the NL East. EDITORIAL: Justice system not above criticism
A country where the decisions of judges and prosecutors can never be criticized is a country that is not a democracy. Every Canadian citizen — not just politicians and media commentators — has the right to publicly agree or disagree with decisions made by judges and prosecutors. As long as they do not threaten their safety and are critical of their decisions, as opposed to personal attacks on those delivering them, they are legitimate forms of public expression and debate. Last week, the president of the Ontario Crown Attorneys' Association said 'attacks' by 'politicians, media and members of the public' in the context of two high-profile criminal cases were 'affronts to the rule of law.' This was in reference to the Crown's submissions for sentences for Freedom Convoy organizers Tamara Lich and Chris Barber on mischief charges, and the fallout from the acquittal of five former junior hockey players on charges of sexual assault. No doubt many agreed with Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, who tweeted on X in response to the Crown's submission to sentence Lich and Barber to seven and eight years respectively: 'Let's get this straight: while rampant violent offenders are released hours after their most recent charges and antisemitic rioters vandalize businesses, terrorize daycares and block traffic without consequences, the Crown wants seven years prison time for the charge of mischief for Lich and Barber.' Poilievre's tweet failed to note the final decision on sentencing will be made by a judge. Others will argue his argument is misguided. But it was hardly an attack on the rule of law. A similar controversy erupted in the wake of the decision by Ontario Superior Court Judge Maria Carroccia to acquit five former junior hockey plays of sexual assault in the Hockey Canada trial. Her ruling prompted public reactions from high praise to scathing criticism for the judge — much of it from lawyers — but all of it fair comment, as long as it did not stoop to threats or attacks on the judge's character. In our view, robust public debates about the decisions made in our courtrooms do not undermine the rule of law in Canada. To the contrary, they contribute to how our laws evolve over time and are a measure of our commitment to democracy.
