Rain and storm chances linger into Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs staying in the mid to lower 90s.

Utah wildfire near Colorado border threatens structures
UPDATE: As of 7 p.m. on Friday, the Deer Creek Fire has grown to over an estimated 6,000 acres with no containment. Some residential and power infrastructure structures have been reportedly destroyed. The Grand County and San Juan County Sheriff's Offices in Utah launched evacuation orders and closures to residents on the Upper 2 Mile Road to the Utah-Colorado border, Mountain Shadow Estates or within five miles of the incident. Lower 2 Mile Road and Highway 46 east of La Sal have been closed to public access. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. SAN JUAN COUNTY, Utah. (KREX) — At around 3 p.m., the San Juan County Sheriff's Office announced that evacuations near Old La Sal, Utah, are taking place due to a wildfire that started earlier Thursday afternoon. The Lasal Community Center, located at 200 S Firehouse Rd in La Sal, Utah, is open and available for shelter for evacuees. The wildfire, named the Deer Creek Fire, is currently threatening structures and has closed Old Lasal Road to traffic. Emergency crews are actively addressing the fire. The fire has spread to approximately 200 to 600 acres, according to the Moab Interagency Fire Center. The Deer Creek fire is currently 11.4 miles west of Paradox, Colorado. It is unknown if the fire will spread into Colorado; however, winds are reportedly blowing West. No additional information is known at this time. More wildfires rampaging across Western Slope
MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) – Wildfires continue to plague the Western Slope as crews are tackling several blazes on CO Highway 141 near Gateway. Two of the fires, Wright Draw and Turner Gulch, are mapped at 33.5 and 83 acres, respectively, as of Friday. The Upper Colorado Interagency Fire Management Unit, which has responded to around 10 wildfires on Thursday, reported lightning is responsible for the blazes. UCRIFM said several resources have been ordered and are en route or are currently on the scene, including engines and aircraft. Other fires in Western Colorado include two on the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The south rim fire has been mapped at over 1,600 acres. Due to the smoke from the blaze, air quality alerts are in place in Montrose. The county said residents should close their doors and windows and avoid prolonged exposure. Evacuations ordered in Gateway area due to wildfires
MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) — On Saturday at 4:30 p.m., the Mesa County Sheriff's office ordered evacuations for residents in all private land and areas between Mile Markers 120 and 124 along Highway 141 near Gateway. An Evacuation Center is located at the Clifton Community Campus, located at 3270 D 1/2 Road in Clifton. The Mesa County Natural Resources Department has set up an assistance phone line for those who need help with securing shelter for their large animals. Residents can contact the line at 970-778-0162. The evacuation notice has been made as a result of the Turner Gulch and Wright Draw Fires in the area, which started on Thursday. Other fires that are burning on Saturday include the South Rim Fire in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, the Sowbelly Fire in the Dominguez Canyon Wilderness Area and the Deer Creek Fire near Old La Sal in Utah. Residents can sign up for Emergency Alerts at Grand Junction's Regional Communication Center website. Earlier on Saturday at noon, the CO Highway 141 near Gateway area was given a pre-evacuation notice from the Mesa County Sheriff's office.
