"Celebrating the unity of community": New Hope PrideFest unites LGBTQ+ members, allies across state lines
The streets of Lambertville, New Jersey, and New Hope, Pennsylvania, came to life and beamed with pride. The New Hope Celebrates Pride parade kicked off Saturday morning with festive floats, marching bands and a celebration of love and community.
"It's beautiful, no matter what, everyone is just sending out positive vibes to each other, and you just feel like a certain acceptance that so many people don't always feel, so you come here and just feel it," said Tina Kulick.
Drone Watch 3 was over the New Hope and Lambertville Bridge as the 100-foot rainbow equality flag moved through the two towns. Crowds of people cheered, embraced their identity and celebrated LGBTQ+ history, culture and accomplishments.

"That's the reason why, like Pride is my favorite holiday. It's like that magic of when you come here and see everybody, the families, it's just like pure joy and nothing else," said Poli Le.
For more than 20 years, New Hope Celebrates has hosted one of the first Pride events of the season.
Organizers say it attracts more than 15,000 people. This year's theme was Together, We Rise! - Defying Fear, Embracing Hope, a rallying cry for resilience, inclusion and joy.
"It's just amazing to bring the community together because we are a diverse community, and it's all about celebrating the unity of community," said Sharon Fronabarger.
"All the way through the whole town over in Lambertville, the whole town was decorated supporting everybody. It's a great feeling, it's like electrifying," said Rob Letts.

Many people CBS News Philadelphia spoke with say that in today's political climate, they felt compelled to show up and stand together.
"We need to keep reminding people [of] the importance of community and LGBTQ rights," Fronabarger said.
"I think all sexualities should be celebrated, especially the LGBTQ community and it's amazing to be surrounded by love," Kulick said.
Plus, this year's parade was led by CBS Philadelphia's very own, Jim Donovan and Josh Sanders, who served as grand marshals!

This comes after 57-year-old Garfield Bennett, of Pleasantville, N.J.—the man charged with stealing the instruments, per NBC News—"was observed giving the guitar to a woman who put the guitar in a vehicle.' Using an automated license plate reader, police pulled the woman over and she voluntarily surrendered the instrument. The guitar, which has been temporarily handed over to Hard Rock Atlantic City representatives, will be returned to Wilson.'The continued use of advancing technology and the hard work and determination from our detectives and patrol officers led to the quick recovery of one of the missing instruments,' said Chief James A. Sarkos in a statement on the incident, per NBC. 'The Atlantic City Police Department embraces technology that allows our officers to investigate and combat crime.' Although Wilson's guitar was returned, Moak's mandolin is still missing. Those with information about the theft are urged to contact the Atlantic City Police Department Criminal Investigations Section at 609-347-5766 or submit a text anonymously to tip411 (847411). Pride events continue to grow in Kern County
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The start of summer brings quite a special celebration; Pride Month in Kern County. Some are ready to kick off the festivities. 'To have a place where you can also just step aside and realize where you are in this point in time and who you are with everyone else around you, that's the most important part,' said Victor Gonzales with Bakersfield Museum of Art. Standard School District announces resignation of Superintendent at Tuesday board meeting Though many might think pride would take a step back because of anti-immigration protests around the state, the queer community says now is the time to stand stronger. 'I don't see it as being as quiet. Every day I see a new event popping up all over social media or friends telling me about it,' said Gonzales. 'Now is the time to not be shy about expressing who you are or having your voice heard.' In the 7th edition of Art After Dark's Pride celebration, up to 800 attendees are expected. Partnerships have almost doubled compared to past years. 'In the past years we've had close to nine community partners…now it's up to 17,' said Gonzales. 'It's also a testament to how many people are participating with us, that want to be with us and want to be celebrating this event too.' Rebuilding hope as renovations begin of beloved bandshell Fire Chief's Memorial in Norristown, Pennsylvania
A beloved community landmark in Montgomery County is rising from the ashes, just in time for summer. Nine months after a fire destroyed Norristown's historic Fire Chief's Memorial in Elmwood Park, renovations have finally begun. The memorial recognizes the service of more than 20 former fire chiefs. But it also serves as a bandshell for the borough's summer concert series and July 4 celebrations. Crews are racing to complete the restoration in time for the series' first concert on June 29. Tru-Blu Band is scheduled to perform that day. Jim Hartman plays bass for M.A.F.I.A. (Middle-Aged Funk in Abington). His band is scheduled to perform at the bandshell on July 6. "We're super excited for it," Hartman said. "After the fire last year, we didn't know what was going to happen." Silence fell over the bandshell after flames tore through in August 2024. Investigators said it was arson. The fire wasn't just physical. It cut into the borough's spirit. "It's really a shame," Hartman said. "I believe the building was there for over 80 years and to hear that it got destroyed like that, again, it was a great thing to bring the community together on Sunday nights and have some music in the summer." While the borough promised to rebuild quickly, the process took time. Officials are hoping the summer concert series will bring a record turnout. "I'm just looking forward to coming here and hanging out with my friends while watching something fun," Serenity Hooks, from Norristown, said. With lawn chairs ready and blankets set to be spread across the grass once more, the borough is planning to heal through harmony.
