King Salman Royal Reserve Marks Saudi Green Initiative Anniversary With 3 Million Trees
The second anniversary of the Saudi Green Initiative highlighted the efforts of the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority to protect the environment and restore ecological balance.
The authority has launched field initiatives, awareness campaigns and rehabilitation programs, restoring over 700,000 hectares of land, planting 3 million trees and distributing 4 tonnes of seeds with help from more than 11,000 volunteers.
The SGI was launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, prime minister and chairman of the Higher Committee for the SGI, in 2021. It aims to unite community efforts in implementing effective and measurable actions for environmental protection, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The authority has worked to protect vegetation cover from vehicle damage, educated the community about the importance of restoring vegetation and safeguarding the environment, and promoted land sustainability to create safe habitats for wildlife.
Additionally, it has shared awareness messages with local communities about the impacts and seriousness of logging practices.
Thursday's celebrations highlighted the efforts of the SGI to increase environmental awareness across the Kingdom and motivate people to play their part in securing a healthier future for future generations.
The program also seeks to bind sustainable programs with the nation's broader green objectives, such as reducing toxic emissions, improving afforestation and land restoration, and preserving land and marine ecosystems.

HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman Attends Ceremony Honouring Young Qur'an Reciters
Muharraq: His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa today attended a ceremony in the Muharraq Governorate honouring young Bahrainis for their contributions during the holy month of Ramadan. According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman praised the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for initiatives that promote the learning and memorisation of the Holy Qur'an. HH Shaikh Mohammed also welcomed the continued commitment of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in supporting those who memorise the Holy Qur'an. HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman expressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain attaches great importance to teaching the Holy Qur'an and encouraging its memorisation, efforts which have been done for generations. HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman honoured Bahrainis aged between 15 to 20 who helped organise the Tarawih and Qiyam prayers during the holy month of Ramadan. As well as those who have memorised the entire Holy Qur'an and shared their recitations through national radio and television. HH Shaikh Mohammed affirmed that excellence in Quranic recitation and memorisation is a source of national pride and extended his appreciation to the event organisers. Shura Council member, Shaikh Dr Adel Al-Maawda, also commended the ceremony, noting that His Highness' patronage reflects the ongoing royal support for Quranic pursuits and serves as inspiration for Bahraini youth. A number of senior officials also attended the event.

25 Endangered Species Released Into Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Royal Reserve
A total of 25 endangered native species were released into the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve. The initiative was carried out by the National Center for Wildlife, in cooperation with the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve Development Authority. The released animals included five Arabian oryxes, 15 sand gazelles, two steppe eagles, and three Egyptian vultures. This comes as part of the authority's ongoing efforts to release numerous endangered species into natural habitats within the reserve, carefully monitoring their condition, and recording their data through a field team. The houbara bustard nests in open ground, forming a shallow, unlined hole, often located near a short shrub. Its length ranges from 55 to 75 cm. Male houbara bustards weigh between 1,800 and 3,200 grams, while females weigh between 1,200 and 1,700 grams. Its range of movement in search of food is 60 km per day, and it feeds on grains, plants, insects, and worms. The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve is the largest wildlife reserve in the Middle East, covering an area of 130,700 square kilometers. The reintroduction programs for endangered species confirm the authority's commitment to its ongoing efforts to enrich biodiversity and conserve species whose numbers have declined due to factors including environmental pressures and loss of vegetation cover.
