2026 Kawasaki Versys 650 Updated With New Colours

NDTV5 days ago
Kawasaki has launched the latest iteration of the Versys 650, but there's a catch! The bike has not been introduced for the Indian but international market. This version of the bike comes with aesthetic changes in the form of new colour options. Similarly, there are slight changes in the powertrain to make it Euro5+ compliant.
With its familiar twin-headlamp design, the Kawasaki Versys 650 now gets paint scheme options like deep blue, grey, and black variants. Meanwhile, the version of the middle-weight motorcycle in the country still comes with Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Grey colour with green highlights on certain parts including the alloy wheels.

Meanwhile, the bike is still based on a tubular diamond frame, housing a 649 cc parallel-twin engine which kicks out 66 hp of power at 8,500 rpm and 61 Nm of peak torque while revving at 7,000 rpm. This power is routed to the wheel using a six-speed transmission.
The braking system continues to use dual semi-floating 300 mm discs, secured by dual-piston calipers at the front, while a single 250 mm disc with a single-piston caliper is located at the rear. These brakes are fitted onto 17-inch wheels, resulting in a seat height of 845 mm and a ground clearance of 170 mm.
The suspension setup uses a 41 mm inverted telescopic fork at the front, offering adjustable rebound damping and preload settings. At the rear, there is a single-shock system that allows for remote spring preload adjustments.
The 2026 Kawasaki Versys 650 continues to have the list of features that were available on the previous model year, including the KTRC traction control system, and full LED lighting. Additionally, it is equipped with a full-color 4.3-inch TFT display that supports smartphone connectivity, opening doors to multiple other features.

IIT-K's Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi new BHU VC

Varanasi: Former director of IIT-Roorkee and Mandi, Professor Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, has been appointed vice chancellor of Banaras Hindu University , officials at the ministry of education announced on Thursday. Serving as professor in the department of electrical engineering at IIT-Kanpur, Chaturvedi will take charge for a three-year term or until he turns 70, whichever is earlier. "President of India, in her capacity as Visitor of BHU, has approved the appointment," a senior official said. An expert in wireless communication, Chaturvedi completed his BTech, MTech, and PhD in electrical engineering from IIT-Kanpur. He has made notable contributions to waveform shaping, sequence design, and MIMO ((Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) systems. Chaturvedi began his professional journey at the very institution he is now set to lead. He served in department of electronics engineering at the Institute of Technology-BHU (now IIT-BHU) from 1994 to 1996, before joining the department of electronics and computer engineering at IIT Roorkee. In 1999, he moved to IIT Kanpur, where he held multiple leadership roles, including head of the department of electrical engineering, dean of research & development and deputy director. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your New Zealand escape starts with Singapore Airlines Fly with Singapore Airlines Book Now Undo Recipient of several awards, Chaturvedi completed B Tech in 1986, M Tech in 1988, and PhD in 1995 degrees in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur. He was the Coordinator of the BSNL-IITK Telecom Centre of Excellence, which has undertaken numerous projects for the Indian telecom sector. Chaturvedi was member of department of telecom's committee that recommended criteria for spectrum allocation to telecom operators in 2008. Chaturvedi becomes the 29th vice chancellor of BHU, filling the post left vacant after professor Sudhir Kumar Jain completed his term on Jan 6. BHU witnessed this development a week after nomination of eight members to the executive council by the President. The committee, which did not exist for almost five years, was formed for a term of three years with immediate effect. The seven months since the end of Jain's term marked demonstrations against alleged anomalies in the admission process, protests in SSL hospital, clashes in trauma centre administration and attacks on academicians, putting the spotlight on security arrangements on the campus. Even as the new VC combats these challenges, focus is also on the prestigious position of the university's chancellor, lying vacant since the death of Justice Giridhar Malviya on Nov 18, 2024. Apart from holding key academic and administrative positions at IIT-Kanpur, including dean (R&D) and deputy director, he was given additional charge as acting director of IIT-Mandi until early 2022. Chaturvedi was awarded the INSA Teacher Award (2017) and IIT-Kanpur's Distinguished Teacher Award (2007), and held the Tan Chin Tuan Fellowship at NTU Singapore. He also mentored the winning team of the 2002 IEEE Computer Society global design competition.

Daewoo deal helped us understand how to compete: Tata Motors exec

A little over two decades ago, Tata Motors had acquired Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company in 2004. "The Daewoo acquisition helped us understand how to compete with global CV giants, as Daewoo operates in a market alongside players like Daimler, Volvo, and Traton,' Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors said, adding that the Korean acquisition helped to develop capability of cross-cultural integration and synergy projects, which will be of significant use and benefit when they start employing that template on a much larger scale in the future. For example, all of Daewoo's medium and heavy-duty trucks use a cabin developed in India and jointly adapted for the Korean market. "Even our entry into the light-duty segment there was built on Indian-developed that experience, we've built strong capabilities in cross-cultural integration and collaborative product development, and we intend to scale significantly as we begin our journey with Iveco,' Wagh said. TaMo plans to tap into premium customer segments and cohorts of Iveco which complements its current positioning. Drawing from its JLR experience, Tata Motors intends to retain Iveco's brand identity, customer interface, and distribution channels as independent to preserve market-specific strengths.

Suzuki Unveils 2026 GSX-R1000R with Major Upgrades and 40th Anniversary Edition

Suzuki has taken the wraps off the 2026 GSX-R1000R, marking an important step in the evolution of its flagship supersport machine. With a host of mechanical and electronic upgrades, the latest iteration promises to refine the riding experience while also celebrating four decades of the iconic GSX-R lineage with a special 40th Anniversary Edition. Visually, the 2026 GSX-R1000R stays true to its aggressive supersport stance, but it's the details under the skin that set this version apart. At the heart of the update is the tried-and-tested 999.8cc inline-four engine, now tweaked to meet Euro 5+ emission norms. While Suzuki hasn't revealed a bump in peak power or torque figures, the changes ensure improved efficiency and compliance without sacrificing performance. Also new is the adoption of a Showa Balance Free Rear Cushion Lite (BFRC-Lite) suspension setup, replacing the older unit for better damping and more precise handling. Paired with Showa's Balance Free Fork at the front, the GSX-R1000R should deliver sharper dynamics through corners and more confidence at high speeds. The 2026 Suzuki GSX-R1000R features updated suspension and a bi-directional quickshifter for improved performance and handling. To mark the 40th anniversary of the GSX-R series, Suzuki has also introduced a limited-edition variant of the GSX-R1000R. This special model features a retro-inspired blue and white livery with red highlights, a nod to the original GSX-R750 that debuted in 1985. Additional visual touches include gold-finished front forks, a blacked-out engine casing, and special badging to commemorate the milestone. Globally, the new GSX-R1000R is expected to be available by early 2026. While Suzuki India has yet to confirm if the updated model or the anniversary edition will be launched in the country, expectations remain high given the growing interest in litre-class sportbikes.
