TDP leaders celebrate NMD Farooq fulfilling election promises
Nandyal: Standing true to his election promise, State Law Minister NMD Farooq has brought smiles to the faces of many by facilitating employment opportunities in the region. In a grand gesture of gratitude, portraits of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Law Minister NMD Farooq, and Mines & Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra were honored with a 'Milk Abhishekam' ceremony, organized by TDP leaders under the leadership of Khader Basha at the Nandyal Market Yard on Sunday
The event was held in recognition of the Ministers' efforts in providing employment to local laborers at the Beverage Liquor Godown located in Auto Nagar, Nandyal. Speaking on the occasion, TDP leader Khader Basha recalled that during the 2024 elections, a delegation of hamali (headload) workers had appealed to Minister Farooq for employment opportunities. Responding positively, and in line with the election promises, Minister Farooq took swift action soon after the formation of the coalition government. As a result, 36 hamali workers were employed at the godown, thereby providing a means of livelihood for nearly 60 families.
Khader Basha expressed heartfelt gratitude to Minister Farooq, describing him as a 'godsend' for the workers. He further shared that Minister Farooq had proactively engaged with Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra in Amaravati to secure these employment opportunities for the locals.
The event witnessed the participation of several TDP leaders, Beverage Liquor Godown workers, and other dignitaries, marking a moment of celebration and appreciation for the Ministers' commitment to their promises.

Former MP blames Naidu for Polavaram ‘blunders'
Rajamahendravaram: Former MP Maganti Bharat Ram came down heavily on former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, holding him responsible for the structural issues that have necessitated the reconstruction of the diaphragm wall of the Polavaram project. Speaking to the media at the YSR Congress Party's city office on Sunday evening, Bharat alleged that the mistakes made during the 2014–2019 TDP regime are the primary reason for the wall's damage. He further opined that the same blunders are being repeated now, raising concerns over the project's future. He demanded strict action from the Panel of Experts and other authorities to ensure the effective completion of the national project. Calling Polavaram the 'brainchild of the late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy,' Bharat accused Naidu of ignoring the project during his earlier tenure. 'Chandrababu Naidu's government awarded contracts through the nomination system, which ultimately led to the collapse of the diaphragm wall,' he alleged. Despite clear guidelines to construct protection walls on both sides before building the main dam, Naidu failed to comply, Bharat alleged. He said that the diaphragm wall is now being reconstructed at a cost of Rs 900 crore. As part of this, 66,000 square meters of concrete work is to be completed. However, by the end of April, only 12,000 square meters had been completed instead of the targeted 15,000, according to the Panel of Experts' report. He also expressed fitness concerns with the structure and demanded that criminal cases be filed against those responsible for the negligence that led to the damage.

Jubilee Hills BRS MLA Maganti passes away at 62
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLA from Jubilee Hills, Maganti Gopinath (62), passed away at a corporate hospital in Hyderabad on Sunday morning. He had been undergoing treatment after suffering a massive heart attack on June 5. He is survived by his wife Sunitha, son Vatsalyanath, and daughters Akshata and Disira. He was cremated at the Jubilee Hills Mahaprasthanam on Sunday evening. Gopinath, who also served as president of the BRS Greater Hyderabad unit, was born in Hyderguda. He began his political career with the Telugu Desam Party in 1983. A prominent youth leader in his early years, he served as the president of the TDP's youth wing, Telugu Yuvatha, from 1985 to 1992, and also held the post of TDP Hyderabad district president. Gopinath entered the legislative assembly for the first time in 2014, winning on a TDP ticket from Jubilee Hills. He later joined the BRS and retained his seat in the 2018 and 2023 assembly elections. In the most recent election, he defeated former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin by a margin of 16,000 votes. In his administrative journey, Gopinath worked as a director of the then Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) from 1987 to 1989. He also served as a member of the Hyderabad district consumer forum. Chief minister A Revanth Reddy, BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao, working president KT Rama Rao, former minister T Harish Rao, and several other political leaders expressed condolences on Gopinath's demise. Union minister G Kishan Reddy, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, assembly speaker G Prasada Kumar, ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and D Sridhar Babu, and several MLAs also paid their respects. With Gopinath's passing, Telangana is set to witness another by-election within the next six months. The last bypoll in the state was held in June 2023 for the Secunderabad Cantonment seat following the death of BRS MLA Lasya Nanditha. Congress candidate Sri Ganesh won that election.
