Warriors' Jonathan Kuminga gets $45 million contract update with sticking point
Still, no Jonathan Kuminga contract. Man, this is getting brutal. The Golden State Warriors and their restricted free agent forward can't come to an agreement, and it's hard to see what might change to reach a compromise. NBA insider Marc Stein has said that a two-year, $45 million deal is on the table from the Warriors, but Kuminga isn't biting on the contract that would include a team option in the second year. Kuminga is being asked to waive the right to veto trades in the first year of that deal, Stein writes, something that prevents the player from losing their free agency Bird rights. The Warriors want that from Kuminga, but he doesn't want to waive that. Stein adds that Jaxson Hayes, Taurean Prince and Jeff Green are three players who have waived such a provision already this offseason. MORE: Mavs paying Anthony Davis more than the Lakers are paying Luka Doncic Kuminga has been said to be seeking closer to $30 million per year, but it doesn't seem forthcoming. As an RFA, he doesn't have a ton of negotiating power. He showed his importance to Golden State in the playoffs when Jimmy Butler and then Stephen Curry were injured. In their absences, Kuminga scored a bunch of points in short order to try and keep the Warriors alive. Golden State wants to keep him, given that they've made him a competitive offer, but it doesn't seem they want to go up to Kuminga's price point. He doesn't have a lot of negotiating power given that no other team has made an offer sheet for him as a restricted free agent, basically leaving the power in Golden State's corner. This could drag on for a while, unless the Warriors or Kuminga are willing to meet closer to the middle on some aspect of this negotiation. Mavericks star Kyrie Irving sets personal goal amidst injury recovery
Dallas Mavericks star guard Kyrie Irving has been off the NBA floor since suffering a torn ACL in March earlier this year against the Sacramento Kings. The former no. 1 overall pick out of Duke has managed to keep the fans entertained in his absence, however, which has included live streams of him playing video games, reacting to highlights in his career, amongst other things. However, recently, in a stream with popular Twitch content creator Kai Cenat, the former Blue Devil announced a more personal goal off the court that he would like to accomplish, one that you simply have to give him props for wanting to achieve. ""Pretty soon, I'll be back in school, bro, I'm gonna go get my degree," Irving said to Cenat. "For me, I want to participate in a lot of the larger conversations. I want to be able to not only just read my contracts, but I want to be able to help others. I want to be able to give you sound advice that comes from not just lived experience, but from education.' Given that Irving only spent one year at the Durham, NC school before heading to the NBA, it makes sense for the guard to want to finish out his education. Whether it's at Duke or at another school, that information remains up in the air, it will be interesting to see whether Irving goes through with his goal, as his return currently is predicted to be in January of 2026.

Chris Paul Addresses "Unfinished Business" With James Harden In Clippers Reunion: "It's Wild That You Get This Opportunity Again"
Chris Paul Addresses "Unfinished Business" With James Harden In Clippers Reunion: "It's Wild That You Get This Opportunity Again" originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Chris Paul addressed the media for the first time as a Clippers player once again in an emotional press conference to start what could be the final year of his NBA career. Earlier this month, Chris Paul announced that he hopes this is his last season in the NBA. And in that 'one last ride' farewell tour-type decision, Paul decided to reunite with James Harden in LA. In his first press conference, he addressed his relationship with his former Rockets teammate, as well as the viral clip that seemed to show an argument between Harden and Paul during their Rockets days. Paul admits that Harden and he have "unfinished business" together. 'Yeah, we talked about it and talked about just the history of obviously being there in Houston. And it's funny, man, cause that clip or whatnot that goes around. It was a lot of stuff, funnier and stuff like that than that. That was just sort of our relationship." "But I think that's what made that team so good, you know, we got on each other in different situations. But that team, I can honestly say, was one of the funnest teams I've ever been on in my career. And James is one of those guys who loves to be in the gym all day long." "And so, it's wild that you get this opportunity again after those two years and the success that we had. And we find we definitely know we had unfinished business. So, we get a chance to see what's going on here.' This is the clip that he is most likely referring to here, which goes viral through separate social media accounts every now and then. It highlights the frank and transparent nature of Chris Paul's relationship with James Harden. Harden and Paul became teammates initially after Paul left the Clippers for the first time in 2017. For two seasons (2017-18 and 18-19), Harden and Paul's duo caused trouble in paradise for the Golden State Warriors' dynasty era at the time. They were arguably the only real contenders to go up against the Warriors' super team and have a fighting chance of winning. In the two seasons that this duo spent together, James Harden arguably had the best phase of his career. In 2018 and 2019, Harden averaged 33.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game. Meanwhile, Paul averaged 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 8.0 assists in the same duration. If not for Paul's injury in the 2018 Playoffs, James Harden and Chris Paul would both likely have NBA rings today. In 2018, the Western Conference Finals went to seven games before Paul's injury cost the Rockets a chance at their first trip to the NBA Finals since Hakeem Olajuwon's days. In 2019, the Warriors won in six games, but each game was decided in a single-digit deficit, showing how close the two teams were at the time to being at each other's throats every time they saw each other on the court. Therefore, Paul believes that the duo's reunion in Clippers is a divine intervention on the duo potentially achieving what they always deserved to have, an NBA championship ring story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Jul 29, 2025, where it first appeared.
